It’s been much too long since I’ve posted. Here are a few things I’ve made this year. There’s never enough time!Â
This was a tryptic created for a commission a couple years ago. They were, and still are the largest inked pieces I’ve ever created. The last image shows them in their new home. I can’t remember the exact measurements of the paper, but the glass panels are 29″ by 18″.Â
I was going through old folders and thought I’d post some raw doodle pages from a couple of years ago. In 2018 I was messing around with different color palette methods. Trying to think about color in a different way. I don’t know if anything really solid came of it but I think I learned a lot by just playing around.Â
I set some time aside back in May to scratch away at a more finished illustration. Wish I could figure out how to do it every month.Â
I have groups of older work that I haven’t posted here yet. I like to post nice clean scans here verses photos and it’s just taken me a while to get around to editing the files. Here’s the first batch. Hope you guys are having a nice 2019 so far!
A smattering of random objects.
More from the warm up archive :)
More stuff from my backlog of warm-ups and experiments. Hope everyone is having an enjoyable weekend!
Here’s some more stuff from last year.Â
These are concepts from a project I worked on a couple years ago.
Hello everyone. I haven’t stopped making art, I just haven’t posted any of it here for a long time. The good news is that I’ve got a decently-sized backlog of stuff to show you… and I’m going to be posting weekly again. This is a piece I made for my wife for our anniversary last year. She was very happy with it and it’s now hanging in our loft area. I need to make time for create more finished art. Hope you are all having a wonderful 2018 so far 😊
Hello everyone. Here’s a piece I did over a year ago :)
Dear Tumblr,Â
I’m sorry that I’ve been such a terrible friend. I’ve been away for far too long. I hope that, over time, you will be able to find it in your heart to forgive me.Â
As a symbol of my deepest sincerest apologies, here is a little wizard. Yes, I drew him months ago. Yes, I’ve posted him elsewhere on the web. But, Tumblr, no other site has such a refined scan of this image. Only a dimly-lit warped and distorted version taken from the tiny lens of a truly inadequate smart phone exists. You, my friend, are the sole possessor of this digital original. This scan among scans. You should feel truly special. Now you know how much you mean to me.
my sincerest apologies,
Scott
I’ve been behind on posting my Inktober stuff here on Tumblr. I’ll start doing it now in batches. Hope you’re all having a great month :)
Some concepts for a project I've been working on. Super secret ;)
Here are some sketch pages from earlier this year that I failed to share. Four of the pages were done while watching four different movies. At least one of them is probably a little lesser known. Can anyone name them all?
Hey Scott, I have been following you a long time but have only recently really studied your work. Just want to say it is very inspiring. As a character designer myself I can struggle with finding interesting solutions to design problems in work. Looking at your work it seems that you experiment with a lot of different mediums. I tend to get quite tight in my sketchbooks working only with col erase pencils. It might be a boring question but I was wondering what markers and other medium you enjoy?
Thank you very much! No, this isn’t a boring question, I always wonder what other people like to use too.Â
I recently got an iPad Pro and have been using Pro Create which is quite a nice program... However, I still prefer paper. I use Copic Markers, Prismacolors, Col-erase and do most of my sketching with Blackwing pencils. I also paint with watercolors and gouache. I like the Pentel Pocket brush pen and the daVinci Maestro 35 #4 round for inking stuff.
Thanks for asking!
