To settle here awhile,

Somehow,

As if to appease heaven.

Call me the breeze then,

As I pass on through.

Hoping I too

Will bring the best

Of my presence

To bear.

Leaving behind me

At least

Some sweet song

For others to hear.

NEW AI POEM!! - 'In the Wecome"

Just to reassure everyone, despite this post, I have no intention of using Artificial Intelligence in my work going forward… And do promise that, for as long as I am blessed to remain in the mortal realm, that nothing will ever be allowed to come between my very own crazy mind, my Soul, my Spirit and my Muse... in respect of my published creative writing.

This AI production merely a ‘one-off example – inescapably and perhaps foolishly curious, as I was, to see what all the fevered, demon algorithms would conjur up. And seems as if the ChatBots like to ponder more expansively than I do? But I suppose it is, in essence, a showing-off kind of effort... First scanning all the work they could find and then looking to cram into the one piece what was pretty much instantaneously analysed to be both my style and all my principal themes. Doh!

Needless to say, it took the software only a couple of seconds to produce this "Scott Hastie' piece, in its entirety!

Which, on the one hand, is mightily impressive... But, on the other, pretty much misses the point altogether, from my point of view. So much for being a poet!

That said, I'm intrigued to see what the reaction will be to this machine-made effort will be, when its released. See below:

There is for sure

A symphony

Of life's subtle melodies

To be found.

The rustle of leaves

Tells tales

Of ancient wisdom,

While the song of birds

Carries secrets from distant realms.

Each blade of grass

Holding a story,

Every dewdrop cradles

A universe of its own.

Time,

That elusive companion,

Meanders like a river

Through the landscapes

Of our existence.

It weaves threads of experience,

Intertwining moments

Of joy and sorrow,

Creating a vivid tapestry of a life

To be fully lived.

And within this ebb and flow,

We find the magic of being,

The enchantment of simply existing.

In every glance,

In every touch,

There lies a universe

Waiting to be discovered.

Our bodies are our portals

And within their depths

Lie galaxies of emotions,

Constellations

Of longing and understanding.

To truly see then,

To truly feel,

Is to partake fully

In this cosmic dance of connection.

So let us wander

Through this boundless expanse,

Where the tangible

And intangible coalesce.

Let us breathe in

The essence of life,

And let it fill our spirits

With wonder and awe.

For in these moments,

In these reflections,

We find the eternal

Within the transient

And the infinite

Within the finite…"

In between

The doors

To the known

And the unknown,

This where we can

Get lost altogether,

If we don’t take care.

Our spirit

Destined to wither,

If we hesitate

And let this miasma be.

See how

So many planets  

Timelessly

Circle their sun,

Such ardent yearning

For fertile valleys

Never once fulfilled!

Truly, in the shadow

Of such doleful majesty,

We are forever young!

And for that blessing

Alone,

We must always  

Be looking to take

The unique

And fabulous chances

We’ve been given

Whilst we still can.

Definition

There is already

The pattern,

The textured travail

Of our lives.

As if encoded

Permanently

On some shiny

Lacquered disc.

Such that

One could imagine

We might well

Be tempted one day

To gather up

Some vast audience

And sing our hearts out.

But why

Should we

Ever need to,

My friend?

When all we love

We have given

Our hearts to...

All we honour

And still hold to be true...

Will still ring out

So loudly,

Long after we’ve gone.

Come what may,

Good days and bad,

Ancient seeds

Of inbred fear

And lust to be

Tremble.

Shoot forth

With evolutionary purpose,

An illusion of progress

It’s hard to shake off.

Oh, that we had learnt!

Kept much closer

To mind,

All we and our forbears

Have since seen

Play out here.

The lessons of the past

Repeatedly urging

Upon us

A far more generous,

More forgiving,

Less acquisitive

Pattern of being.

And all the while,

Beneath

The brooding moon,

An erosion of emotions

And ambition

Already misspent,

Leak into sorrow

And wastefulness.

But wait!

In our hearts

A far kinder dream

Speaks to us still,

Apparent

It’s shape

Belongs to heaven.

Oh, that we could ever

Acquire the humility,

The lift of true grace

To claim this vision

More courageously,

Here and now.

The spark

In a void,

Once only a shell.

A curl,

A husk of life,

A chrysalis

Waiting to burst.

Awakening

Becomes

A morning look

That welcomes

Warmth,

No sour or arid

Sleep now.

Such rising spirit

A swelling mound,

A fine, fresh

Moist prominence

Of sorts,

Eager to receive

Such gain.

Pressing, breasting,

Poised

To leave its mark.

And yes,

We all leave

Such stains,

Such energies behind us,

For there’s

No other way

To be generous here.

Giving back

Gloriously

At our own expense

Into a rinsing bowl

Of tears.

The sparkle

Of our dreams

Caught threadbare,

Between the cracks.

Life is suffering

Speckled with joy.  

So treasure it

When that

Blessing comes.

Bringing with it,

As it does,  

A nourishment  

That’s so rich,

So intense,  

You could run a knife

Through it,

Like a slab of butter.

A sacred hamper

Of hope then,

For far tougher days

Ahead,

When storms  

A plenty

Will, once again,

Seem to chide us so.

Yet surely

We’ve all lived  

Long enough

To know

There’s no such thing

As mere coincidence,

Feeble creatures

As we are

That mysteriously

Can’t ever quite  

Seem to see round  

The corner.  

For whatever despair

We might inflict

Upon our world,

Nature has its own acumen,

Its own steady intent

And will show us

The way back home,

If we allow it to.
