The Girl Who Waited

My name is Amy Pond. Or Amelia. Or just Pond, whichever you like. I am the wife of Rory Williams (or Pond), who is a nurse (and a Roman centurion, too - but that's a long story). I am best friends with a mad man in a blue box that travels through time and space. I am a mother to an archeologist, who also happens to be a time traveler as well. I am the girl with the name like from a fairytale. I am the girl who waited. And I'm currently stuck in a little town called Ashbrook, which the Doctor apparently thinks is exciting. I hope he's right.

"I’ve been having these blackouts lately… I don’t know precisely when or where it started..All I know is that I disappear for quite some time and then just suddenly pop back in again," Amy started saying. "What’s strange is that while to others...

Amy breathed out a shaky sigh of relief before asking the Doctor, "D'you have any idea what could be happening, Doctor?"

"I’m all ears. You can tell me." He said reassuringly, with a small smile.

Rory nodded sympathetically to her, taking one of her hands to hold, but this was up to Amy to say.

"I've been having these blackouts lately... I don't know precisely when or where it started..All I know is that I disappear for quite some time and then just suddenly pop back in again," Amy started saying. "What's strange is that while to others time has moved forward, to me it hasn't." She unconsciously squeezed Rory's hand. "To Rory, it has been months that we've been here, but to me..I feel like I've only been here a couple of weeks," she continued, before sighing out loud with frustration. "I dunno Doctor.. It's strange and I don't like it one bit."

He laughed. “That would be great! I hope they do.”

"I know they have custard here," Rory said, "But I don’t think they have fish fingers. Three teas, and three chocolate chip biscuits-er, cookies."

While they waited for their order, Amy then dragged the boys to a secluded table by a corner. When they've finally seated, Amy faced the Doctor and asked him rather sternly, "Now, Doctor, there's this problem I've apparently been having, and I want some answers." She bit her lower lip and glanced at Rory as she thought about what precisely to say to the Doctor.

He chuckled as he began to walk with them. “I guess you can say that.”

Rory nodded to his wife, looking at the menu and not seeing much he’d want to try. “Everyone okay with tea?”

"As long as it's edible," Amy muttered a bit, sighing a bit. "I do hope they have descent biscuits here... Or maybe some fish fingers, I hope?" she added, sending the Doctor a wink.

"I’ve missed you too, Pond." he replied as he hugged her back.

Rory stood behind them awkwardly. “Shall I go get everyone a cuppa then?” he asked.

Amy stepped away from the Doctor and looked at Rory, flashing him a grin. 'Why don't we all go?" she suggested. "After all, I'm sure the Doctor has a lot to tell us, right?" she said, as she pulled both Rory and the Doctor towards the counter.

"Oi!" he said putting his hands up in defense, then a grin appeared on his face when he recognized who the fiery ginger was. "Amy! Long time no see! Sorry I haven’t been around that much. The TARDIS wasn’t agreeing with me…"

"The TARDIS hasn’t been agreeing with anyone right now," Rory said, shrugging. "Nice to see you both around, though."

"You, Raggedy Man, have such an impeccable sense of timing," she said sarcastically, rolling her eyes dramatically before grinning at him and enveloping him in a hug. "I've missed you, Doctor. A lot."

Amy looked around the small cafe. Yup, it was cozy alright. Just like what Rory mentioned earlier. "And they better have something decent to drink here," she mumbled a bit, before looking for a place to sit. She wandered off to one side of the cafe when she stopped as she saw the back of someone's head. The head looked familiar. Really, really familiar. Without a word, she marched her way towards the all-so familiar shape of the Doctor. She grabbed his arm, turned him around to face her and yelled loudly to him, "Where have you been?!"

"Yes, it’s American, where everything is big, and they couldn’t make tea to save their lives," Rory said laughing, and walking up to the shop, pulling open the door for Amy.

Amy laughed along with Rory as they approached the shop. She waited while Rory opened the door for her and did a little bow. "Why, thank you, kind sir," she said sweetly at him, as she waltzed right in the shop.

"It wasn’t your fault you disappeared, I’m not upset with you. However, there is no place in this town with good tea, but this is at least okay," Rory said in answer to her comment. "And it’s a cozy cafe."

"Of course, because this is America, remember?" Amy said in a small huff. "But you said cozy, right? Hmm... I love cozy," she added, snuggling closer to Rory.

"Me too" Sam replied honestly, then he shrugged, "Clearing my head"

Amy raised an eyebrow in curiosity. "Why? What've you got there anyway?" she asked with a small chuckle. "

Rory smiled, happy Amy was laughing. “It’s just around here,” he said, leading the way. “I’ve gotten to know where everything is now, mostly. From wandering around all the time.”

Amy frowned a bit at what Rory said. "I'm sorry about...not being here," she said slowly. "But I'm here now, so..." she added with a small smile and another squeeze of his hand. "...you better take me a really good place." She chuckled.

"I’ve kept it pretty clean!" Rory said, pretending to be insulted. "But of course we can, there’s a cafe not far from here."

Amy laughed, loving the feel of laughing again. She then grabbed Rory's hand, squeezed it, smiled at him and said, "Lead the way then, my centurion!"

Sam smiled, “Well maybe he’s just late”

"Well, I hope that's the case," she sighed before turning her face to him. "What are you doing out here anyway?" she asked curiously.

"Of course it will be sorted," Rory said, stiffling a laugh at her mild threat. "What do you say to having a good cuppa at the motel room?"

The thought of something warm to drink brought a smile to her face. "Sure," she replied, but then frowned a bit. "But can we not be in the motel? How about somewhere more...clean?" she added.

"Yeah," Rory confirmed quietly, pulling Amy into a hug. She was so strong most of the time, but when she was really frightened, she really was. "But it’s okay. I told you, the Doctor will figure it out, and I’ve got hunters helping us too. Someone will know something.”

Amy tried to breathe normally when Rory pulled her into a hug. She let his warmth defuse through her as she snuggled closer to him. "I do hope this'll be sorted out...Or I'll be really, really cross," she mumbled.

Sam nodded, “So you haven’t found him then?” he hadn’t talked to Amy for a long time, but last time they talked she was looking for the Doctor.

Amy frowned. "No, not yet," she mumbled. "What's really strange is that... No matter what, the Doctor also seemed to be there whenever I'd call on him. He doesn't really have the most perfect timing of course," she added with a chuckle.

Sam smiled and sat down next to Amy, “I thought I heard you talking to somebody” he looked around, then back to Amy with a smile.

"Oh," Amy replied, looking a bit sheepish. "i wasn't talking to anybody actually. I tend to mutter a lot though." She paused for a bit to bite her lower lip before adding, "Actually, I was...I dunno.. Calling out to someone.. Well, it's the Doctor, specifically." She shrugged.
