Cris raised his eyebrows in confusion as he watched the girl head back then come out just a quickly. “I didn’t realize you worked here. When did you start? Ayla didn’t say anything to me, which is weird because you think she would mention you were working here considering she knows I – well it’s just weird for her not to say anything about it.” He kissed the top of her head before wrapping an arm around her. “Alright, let’s go. Have you eaten yet and twizzlers don’t count.”
“I’ve worked here for about the past two years.” Scout answered. “She knows you what? avoid bookstores like the plague?” She teased, bit into another twizzler. “They definitely count, but no, all I’ve had to eat today has been candy.” She shrugged. Scout’s eating habits could be pretty horrible. But she wasn’t bothered. She leaned into him a little as they walked.
