EarthQuaker Devices land in Stockholm

What started as Jamie Stillman soldering in his basement is now a full-blown fuzz empire. At TGT11, he sat down with us to talk accidents, noise, and the new Barros pedal. Started in 2005, EarthQuaker now cranks out 1,500 pedals a week from their Akron, Ohio headquarters. Everything in-house except the bare circuit boards. Their latest? The Barros - a Tone Bender MKII tribute with three germanium transistors, phase-corrected output, and skulls on it. Because that's important. "I realize it might be insane to release a Tone Bender MkII clone in 2025, but fuck it, I like it."

Watain Announces Final Chapter

Swedish black metal forces Watain have drawn a line in time. 2028 will be their last year. The announcement lands three years ahead, deliberate and unflinching. Their eighth full-length album will arrive that year, marking three decades before the band returns to silence. "Instead of being consumed by the jaws of time, or broken upon the wheel of circumstance, we choose to let Watain return, unbowed and undefeated, back into the primordial chaos that once gave it life." Three years remain for new music, concerts, and revelations from the Temple of Watain. Death has always been their subject. Now they claim it as their own conclusion.

When Ozzy Smashed Cake Into His Face

London, 1975. Holiday Inn coffee shop near closing time. Four massively drunk men arrive with a collie dog. They order four hamburgers and a steak for the dog. For dessert: black forest gateau. In unison they lifted up their plates and squashed the cake into each other's faces, covering each other in cream and chocolate. They'd just signed a recording contract. The band was Black Sabbath.
