that may have been just about the last thing he expected. kaveh was typically quite clear in his annoyances with the scribe, and his hot-headed nature and unending self-consciousness tended to see him more verbally aggressive than generally physical. of course he didn't expect any altercations between them, no matter how heated things got, but he equally never would have estimated that he would place his hand on his leg to keep him in place. if anything, he thought he would much rather shoo him away, or at least would refrain from touching him.

not that it was something he thought he needed to make a fuss over, or something that he necessarily minded in the first place. still, he glanced down at his hand, then to the architect. ❛ ...what is that about ? ❜ he asked, plainly.

Kaveh sensed the nearby movement as someone joined his table and he had some inkling who it might be. A part of him didn't want to look up or give any indication that he knew Alhaitham was there - the mood he was in - the man was surely about to make things so much worse.

"Given my...!" He began angrily before losing his steam. Kaveh heaved out a heavy sigh, languidly lifting his head from the table to stare at Alhaitham with his crimson irises. Bet he would like that, Kaveh wondered to himself, If he simply vanished into the desert. He remembered waking up on the ground, dazed and confused, staring up into the night sky. Scared...Not that he was willing to admit it.

" Well I didn't did I? And I think my performance was remarkable considering I WON."

contrary to what appeared to be popular belief, alhaitham was most assuredly not hoping tragedies would befall his roommate. most people understood with relative ease that the scribe had a strange way of showing he cared, sometimes, especially when it came to the hot-headed architect. they had been good friends, once, after all, and a falling out during their student days was not capable of inciting hate within the scholar.

as the blond predictably blew up, alhaitham merely folded his arms before his chest and patiently awaited him to finish any and all outbursts that might be bubbling within. ❛ it was a deserved win, too, ❜ he said, first, almost amicably so. ❛ passing out in the desert during a competition, however, is quite far from remarkable. ❜

It was not the worst day of his life by any stretch, but it surely wasn't going well. Kaveh knew he was one stubbed toe away from losing it entirely, something he had hoped wine would fix. Three glasses deep and all he had to show for it was a lot of pent up frustration and a sick stomach. The blonde laid his head down on the table and bumped it none too gently.

"I'm going on a sabbatical to the desert - never to be seen again."

occasionally, alhaitham, too, enjoyed a drink after work. he didn't typically feel the need to invite anyone for drinks together, and didn't have a tendency to get lost in his cups, but it was a good way to unwind after a stressful day to him as much as it could be to anyone else. it wasn't the first time he ran into kaveh at the tavern, either, and it would most assuredly not be the last. rather than to return to pay a tab he blatantly assumed the architect might not have the funds to cover later, he elected to seat himself at his table, opposite of him, before gesturing for a server to be delivered some wine of his own.
