Eddie couldn’t help but notice the dusting of pink along the cute high cheek bones and that definitely seemed like a good sign to him. Shaking his head head his smile softened a bit but was still very much present as he looked warmly at Barry, walking along the street with him.

That’s not weird at all, that’s something to be proud of. Having a knock for science from childhood? That’s honestly amazing, you should never nock being smart as weird or nerdy, it’s really awesome that you can do what you do and you put your smarts to good in helping others. That’s … really awesome, honestly.

Shrugging and stuffing his hands in his jacket, Eddie gave a sigh at Barry’s question.

Yeah, I’m a detective, I didn’t .. really get into the job for the right reasons but i’m hoping this reassignment will help me, because I do want to help others, and I want to help make things safer for people so i’m hoping this can reignite my love for the job. Being away from my family  

                                         “

Even if this wasn’t the original Eddie Thawne, Barry was feeling as if this really was Eddie. He was charming and still gorgeous, and of course he had to go and compliment Barry and make him feel good. It was why Barry was never able to hate the guy when he was engaged to Iris. He loved Eddie. Everyone did. 

“That’s…that’s really nice,” Barry told him with a flushed face. “Where were you when I was in school getting picked on by the other kids?” 

Get a hold of yourself, Allen, he told himself in his head. He couldn’t remember getting flustered like this around Eddie when he was…still around. 

He listened to the other man, appreciating how the morning sun was hitting Eddie’s face, giving him this kind of perfect glow. “Well–let’s hope it does bring back the love,” he told him. “I mean, there’s plenty of weirdness that happens in the city, if you didn’t know already. It’ll keep you a little busy.”

   Eddie was finding it surprisingly easy to talk to Barry, something about him was very warm, and approachable and kind. Chuckling softly Eddie reached his hand out and clasped Barry on the shoulder.

If I had been there I would have kicked all their asses, I promise. Geeks are cute and anybody who picks on them deserves to have their asses kicked.

Smiling at Barry, even brighter, he couldn’t help it honestly. Something about Barry was just so warm and familiar and cute and it made Eddie feel at ease, like his anxiety was completely washing away.

I’ve heard, all this meta stuff is absolutely mental. We don’t have anything like that where I come from. I’m really interested in the flash, i’ve heard so much about him and he really sounds like an amazing guy, just so giving and selfless. This city is really lucky to have people like him around honestly.

Running his fingers through his hair in a vain attempt to get it in shape, the biting wind mussing it up just slightly, and to keep himself from mussing up Barry’s hair. He was so adorable with his red cheeks and mussed hair.

Thank you, for talking to me by the way. I know I probably came across as super weird, and you must not have a great relationship with whoever I reminded you of but , thank you. Something about you, is really .. I don’t know you have a very calming presence about you.

   Eddie was still fairly worried about this poor guy, he seemed really shook up though he did perk up a bit hearing that he worked at the CCPD as well. Leaving a tip on the table and picking up his jacket pulling it on. 

            “ 

I would, absolutely love to walk with you, if that’s not too much trouble. No better way to start the day than coffee and conversation with an attractive person. 

                “

A nervous chuckle in his voice as he started walking towards the Jitters front door, opening it for barry with a smile. Might as well put it out there in the open that the guy was attractive, guage his reaction especially if he was gonna be working with him.

                        “

Forensic Science huh? That’s really awesome I’ve always admired those of you who do the more science stuff, yall were the only ones at my old precinct I could tolerate. 

                                  “

Barry almost did a double-take at Eddie. Did…did he say he was attractive? Did he even hear that right? “I-I…no, man, that’s no problem at all.” He could feel his cheeks beginning to burn, but he had to curse to himself for it. Sure, he did find his Eddie quite attractive, and that was part of his jealousy when Eddie and Iris were together. But this was no time to be flustered with…whatever version this Eddie was. 

Still, Barry couldn’t stop himself from returning the smile when he walked out the door, straightening out his coat as the chilled breeze hit him. He was biting the inside of his cheek, wondering how the others were going to react to this big news. Barry couldn’t even decide if this was good or bad. Eddie was always someone special to the team, and of course he was deeply missed. 

He smiled again at Eddie’s comment, wishing that he would stop blushing. This Eddie was just as charming as the original–if not, more, especially towards him. “Uhm, yeah, I was that weird and nerdy science kid in school,” he said. “I always had the knack for it and I liked using science as a way to help others, y’know? Hence me going into the field I am now.” He ran his tongue over his lip, pausing for a moment. “Should I assume you’re a detective?” he decided to ask.

Eddie stood up, dusting off his pants in a nervous habit and holding out his hand in greeting, smile sheepish. It was clear something really shook this guy and he felt bad, he didn’t want to be the reason for throwing this guys whole day off. Something about him made Eddie want to protect him honestly, as weird as that sounded. He just had this kicked puppy look perpetually, it made Eddie kinda sad. And I mean it didn’t hurt that the guy was stupidly attractive like holy crap.

           I u-uh my name is Eddie Thawne,   I just transferred here to the ccpd, and I am looking to meet new people, and hopefully that didn’t sound near as weird as I thought it did just now.

Sighing, Eddie bit his lip in self admonishment before speaking up again,

  You, just seem kinda frazzled and I wanna make sure you’re okay, i’m sorry.

At the sound of Eddie’s voice telling him to wait, Barry did wait. He stopped, taking a deep breath as he slowly turned around to face the other man again. Could he really do this? Could he really interact with an Eddie Thawne that wasn’t…his Eddie? He swallowed down the lump that was stuck in his throat. How was this even possible? 

“H-hi, yeah, I’m Barry. Barry Allen,” he finally introduced himself, glancing away nervously. “N-no, not weird at all. I, uh, actually work at the CCPD. Forensic scientist. It’s, uhm, good to have you on board, Eddie.” The way the name rolled down his tongue had his heart thump hard against his chest. 

“I’m fine,” Barry insisted, shaking his head. “Don’t apologize, I’m just…weird like that.” He offered him a small smile, then. “It’s…nice to meet you, Eddie. Do you, uhm, need directions to the CCPD or I can walk with you?”

Eddie looked up in time to heard Barry hiss in pain, seeing that the young man had gotten a paper cut between his thumb and index finger. Acting on instinct, muscle memory from dealing with his niece so often, Eddie reached over and took the smaller hand into his own kissing the cut and mumbling.
