»âAisle 1, Aisle 2, Aisle 3, Aisle 4.â Elbows draped over the handle, he pushed the shopping cart down the aisles as he counted them off in his mind. He wasnât here for much, just some basic necessities like some water, food (which he stored in whoeverâs house he was crashing at that night and was for everyone), and the like. He really did hate grocery shopping. Either he bought too much of one thing, or heâd forget to buy the thing that he really actually needed and came there for in the first place.
This time, he had actually made a listâsomething he should have been doing from the startâso he knew exactly where he was going and what to get. No buying too much of one thing, no getting distracted by something he passes on the wayâor someone. There was someone he vaguely recognized in the toy aisle; a bronzed woman, with dark chestnut-colored hair to match.Â
She dressed perhaps not over-extravagantly, but very professionally nonetheless. To him, she almost seemed kind of silly looking among the innocent assorted playthings and knick-knacks. Regardless, she appeared to be focusing on one item in particular, chocolate-brown eyes scanning over every detail, drinking in all of itâs appearance, so much in fact that she hardly took notice of Samsonâs approach.
He then perched his elbows up on the cart handle, cradling his face in his hands, and stared at the object right along with her as if searching for the appeal for a good minute or two, before finally speaking up.â You know,â he began, squinting. âthe longer you stare at that, the creepier it starts to look.â
3 Targets, 1 ToysRUs, and 2 Walmarts later. She had found it finally. She couldâve asked an online supplier, but she still ran the risk of the face up or hair being messed up. And the online prices were higher than the ones in person and she could potentially get a deal and- It was alright now, she reminded herself. There was no need to worry or overthink. She had found the doll sheâd been looking for. Of course, she still had to check this one for any problems. Just in case. And then sheâd check other ones in store to see if they were any better.
But this doll seemed to be fine. Just right, actually. Josephine grinned, feeling little butterflies doing somersaults in her stomach. She always got far too excited about these things. When she got home and unboxed her, sheâd do some calming things like watching YouTube videos of miniature food being cooked. She had watched one with cake the night before, perhaps tonight would be puddi-
She jumped(slightly or so she thought) at the sudden intrusion of her thoughts and space. Quickly she took a deep breath and reformed herself, but surprise aside there was still the matter of..... someone seeing her like this! Someone seeing her doing this! And someone who knew people she knew, who would tell people and! She found the butterfly circus in her stomach was even worse than it was before.
âI- This is not what it looks like...! Itâs, ah, for my sister, she... she likes these things, I- itâs not... Iâm not... It- it looks creepy?âÂ
