R-…. Really…? King stared in disbelief at the giantess, eyes wide and face reddening to a degree that meant even she could surely feel the heat at this distance… Slowly, the fairy allowed himself to hover up and closer to her face (hugging Chastiefol protectively to his chest, mind you) and swallowed thickly.
Okay….. Okay. This was it. Don’t mess it up, King. Don’t. Mess. It. Up.

Truthfully he had no idea why he said that to begin with – maybe to give her a change to change her mind and realize she didn’t actually want a kiss from him. Either way he waited a few more excruciatingly long seconds before situating himself even closer to the side of Diane’s face.
Quickly, but with just enough pressure for her to actually feel it, King pressed his lips against her cheek and backed away a few large feet to process what he’d just done.
She stayed completely still as he hovered in close, her heart racing despite her calm outward demeanor; she idly wondered if he could hear it trying to escape her chest, but judging by his expression in her peripheral vision, he was too caught up in his own anxieties. It made the wait all the more excruciating (”here I go” ??? Was that supposed to be some kind of warning ???), and once he finally followed through with the precious-friend kiss, Diane had to resist the urge to sigh in relief --- after all, he could’ve easily misinterpreted that.
To her delight, it didn’t feel like the usual bizarrely light, near-nonexistent brushes of contact she was used to from other races. Although it was still soft, she could actually feel the distinct pressure of his lips --- briefly, anyway, before he backed away just as quickly. No matter how temporary, the contact was enough to make her own lips break into a large, bright smile, her closest hand immediately shooting up to press against the cheek in question (as did the pigtail she had previously been fiddling with in her nervousness). In fact, there was even the hint of a blush beginning to grow in her cheeks...
