Magazine and Comic Pulls
This month’s pull was Heavy Metal #5. My favorite story was Dark Horizons by Philippe Pelaez and Benjamin Blasco-Martinez.
April 2026 in Review
Record Store Day
It was an odd Record Store Day this year. My local store’s point-of-sale system went down, so I had to find another location to shop at. Then, at that store, there were no Record Store Day exclusives to browse.
Despite all this, I purchased a classic: a remastered edition of Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd.
Autism Acceptance Month
This year, I actually remembered that it was Autism Acceptance Month. You would think that, being autistic myself, I would remember—or perhaps that is the reason I typically don’t?
Regardless, I didn’t do anything special; maybe I will next year.
The Small Puddle of Freedom Studio
The space where I create and stream has evaporated again. Last year, it was due to apartment construction that went well beyond the estimated completion date. This time, it’s because of routine apartment maintenance.
I’m redoing my gear configuration, and when I’m finished, I will have an organized, maintainable, usable, and movable studio. I’m taking my time to do it right and expect to be finished by mid-May.
I’ll make an online announcement when the Small Puddle of Freedom Studio returns!
Secrets of Strixhaven Prerelease
I really enjoyed attending the Secrets of Strixhaven Magic: The Gathering prerelease at my local game store. The people running the event were great, and I love this set for its high-fantasy background and prepare mechanic.
Music Purchases
I bought Yield by Pearl Jam on compact disc because it was selling for a good price at my local music store, and I’ve wanted to add it to my music collection for some time. I will be putting its songs on my phone soon.
Magazine and Comic Pulls
This month’s pulls were Magic: The Gathering: Untold Stories—Jace #1 and MAD Magazine—Stays Up for Late Night #49. I enjoyed both issues.
Video Game Purchases
I bought SimCity for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. I have many fond memories of playing it when it was released, and I’m looking forward to doing that again soon.
