Had dinner last night with a friend that I hadn’t seen in probably 11 years and had the most cathartic cry on the drive home.

Over a decade ago, I experienced the worst depression of my life that consumed me in ways that didn’t allow me to be fully there at a time when my friend needed me the most. I’ve been processing the shame and regret, and it feels good to be able to recognize that I’ve finally reached a point where I feel that I have forgiven myself enough to allow myself to live my most authentic self.

How lucky am I for the grace a handful of old friends have extended towards me recently. There are still friendships I whole heartedly miss, but I’m letting life do its thing and staying open to humbling surprises.

Man, what a good cry.
