Dunno why everyone decided to flock to tumblr, but I might as well join my co-workers. I’m Dr. Ignis Ashton, he/him. I work with those down in the innovation department of SDN Torrence.

Meet Ignis, a doctor somewhat doomed by the narrative (and the curse of everything around him bursting into flames.)

Clumsy, perpetually tired, and constantly putting out fires, Ignis Ashton has pyrokinesis. He was never taught to use his abilities properly, so he tends to take extra safety measures to ensure his workplace doesn’t explode in flames. He is, however, incredibly lucky. Somehow.

He’s bi, transmasc, and very single. Go nuts.

As soon as Second shift is over! It’s gonna be a long night of tracking and hunting, so we’re going to grab something protein heavy to eat on the way out.

We’re both gonna need to keep our heads tonight. I’ve already gotten the meds from medical to help with that.

The unicorn herd has been particularly active this last week or so, and it doesn’t look good. The rangers have a couple of hunting tags for us to pick up when we check in, so if we down at least three of the stallions over the night, we’ll be doing them a huge favor.

A change of clothes for the end of the night, bottled water, and a good stock of protein bars. We're both going to be hungry as hell afterwards, even if we do manage to bring something down.

And no, we're not gonna eat the unicorns. They're rancid anyway and eating any of those is a surefire way to get yourself cursed or damned in the biblical sense, even though they're very much NOT the sweet New World or regal Old World unicorns.

Magic is weird that way.

Morning Ignis! I was actually about to ask you the same thing.

Shifting during the Full Moon is actually completely voluntary for me after all. It’s the New Moon I’ve got to watch out for.

Anyway, I’m feeling pretty damn good. Downed a deer and ate my fill while I was out there keeping an eye on the wolf packs as a favor to the rangers.

But back to you. How did it go? How are you feeling?

Yeah, that’s about what I expected for your first truly regular shift. You’ll get used to the soreness before the first year is out, and the morning-after nap pile is one of the biggest highlights.

Also, I would up your meat intake, or at least your protein intake, in the week leading up to the shift. Part of the reason weres go into a bit of a frenzy after shifting is because we burn through a hell of a lot of energy during a shift, and we’re practically desperate to make it up by hunting anything with a heartbeat in range. I suggest treating it like a bulking cycle.

Might be a good idea to check out the forums online about local weres too, especially since wolves are pack animals. They’ve got quite a bit of information on there, like coping with new instincts, what to do if you encounter another wolf outside of a full shift, and how to get enough control to voluntarily shift.

You’re more than welcome to join me out there with the next new moon. I’m going to be sticking to the Angeles Forest this time around because someone spilled the beans about the unicorn herd that’s living out there and the Rangers are worried about tourists.
