Song for me

They said put it in words

They don’t know it will take forever

 I’ve felt this before, have you?

Like a storm closing in on me, and breathing getting a little rough

I knew I was all alone,

I just thought I was tough enough.

 They tell me I should write it down,

Give words to my feelings

 They don’t know I can’t start

Coz life’s come a full circle, I’m staring at my mistakes.

Have you felt the same?

Do you know what it feels like?

To not forgive yourself, coz you didn’t forgive them either.

 They said I should sing it,

They don’t know I'm all choked up

 It’s right around the corner.

The storm of consequences, I might live to fight another day

But I’ll count them all anyway,

In the end I did this to myself.

 Maybe you can put it in words,

Maybe you can write it down

Maybe when it’s all said and done

Sing for me, when I'm gone.

Does it help? ..."A little..."

How many of us, are truly happy?

Just how many don't hurt from the scars?

I could try to smile but thoughts cloud & tears flow free

We do this to ourselves,

by remembering them..pleasant & hurtful,

joyous & cruel...

memories we made, bonds we break...

a little part inside, never truly stops the caring

A dark midnight sky, a few stars, a fire burning bright,

the headlights of passing cars,

a valley so cold & dark..

and the calm & warmth of your arms

I see so clear when I close my eyes...

I see your face, right next to mine

I hold your hands, so warm, in mine

& if I had wished a different wish,

I think I could  keep this dream alive...

I wish I could keep you, for a while longer

Would that make this any better?

Would it change your mind?

Would it make you stay forever?

Does it hurt?...."A little"
