I adore this little doodle of my bean self by
@von-koopas-muse so much Sjdjdefg
I’ve been developing Fawful as a custom fighter for a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate mod! A major design and art direction challenge was nailing his headgear. My goal was to find a perfect middle ground between its various, canonical appearances while maintaining the high texture fidelity that the Smash Bros. series is known for.
One of the most fun things about working on Fawful is figuring out the functionality of his headgear! Enjoy this prototype for the rockets!
Say hello to the updated design for Shean, my beansona! 🫘✨
The painter outfit was originally for a Super Mario 64 mod, but you’ll mainly catch him rocking his classic suit (and a bunch of other outfits I still need to draw)!
Feel free to draw him anytime if you wish to! I always love seeing him in other styles and interacting with others!
It's been fun to work on Fawful again! He's mainly planned for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate modding as his own fighter, but it's just cool to see him become fully fleshed out in 3D. I think that's why translating characters like this into 3D- ones with barely any official artwork or relevance is- so appealing to me.
One fun thing about my beansona being able to flex now is that I can try to summon Wario Land with any foretold Nintendo Direct. It also reflects more on how I look irl from what others told me!
arts i did for @seanhicksart bc he is peak
A Christmas gift I made for a special bean @faffreux :]

Hey where did my paint brushes go ?
Suspiciously paintbrush shaped Mische

SEAN 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
Are you a sea bean ?
SEA BEAN Now that's a fun one! Now I'm just wondering what my beansona would look like if the sea aspect was visualized...like he took on merman qualities...
Everytime I see your sheen bean art I can only imagine him with a transatlantic accent for some reason-
OHH I LOVE THAT It's funny, because I actually had an accent like that for about a week or two because of my "accent echolalia". This was from when I was working with some friends over-seas on remote work (years ago), and we would have meetings frequently; during that time I subconsciously copied the accent.
HAPPY FIRST DAY OF FALL!! Beanbean besties embracing the fact THAT AUTUMN IS FINALLY HERE! (feat. @faffreux ) 🍁🍂
Playing around with the Popple model that I’m working on!
Mr Hicks, do you have any tips on how to design characters with outfits that are primarily yellow? I know this is very specific, but I figured there's no harm in asking
This is a good question! Always found specific questions to be fun and engaging, especially when it comes to something like character design! I'll make my response focus on design balance and color. Depending on the character itself, their outfit may take up a large portion of their body- so a majority of that yellow color could be making up about 50%-60% of their design. I personally feel the most effective direction is to play around with the balance of other colors as well as their positioning. Here are some different color pairings that come to mind that work well with eachother, and also provide you with different options: complimentary colors (purple in this case), analogous colors (yellow to yellow-orange or yellow to green), or triad (yellow-orange, violet, and blue-green). This is a personal preference but when working with those other colors, I'd try to make them not feel too much like primary colors- mainly to not contend with dominating color in this case: yellow. I hope this helps!

I-I just imagined it being like this when seeing this ask in my inbox
A wedding topper I made that features Fawful and @faffreux's Jolligig! I honestly love just how well they go together! It brings me such joy ;-; This was such a fun project to work on, and it's going to be exciting to see how it 3D prints later!
