this has happened like three times now, why do people think dceu orm is awful or something. orm is the most comic accurate character in that movie universe. the only thing I don’t like about him is the “half-breed bastard” shit, that’s literally my only criticism
I think I’ve figured out the main criticism of dceu Orm. It’s that he isn’t complex enough for some people like his comic counterpart and honestly I can agree there in some aspects. But I’d like to point out that he still has many complexities.
dceu Orm still has the same backstory, his father was obviously very abusive to him and Atlanna. But this version of Orm lost Atlanna at like 9 years old (he was about 29 in the first Aquaman movie + Atlanna was in the hidden sea for 20 years) so if Orm became king of Atlantis at 12 years old like his comic counterpart that means Orm was alone with his abusive father for about 3-4 years. Most likely the reason why this Orm is so extreme.
Anyway. Do y’all see where I’m going with this though? Just bc his backstory happened off screen and some aspects of the throne of atlantis storyline were changed doesn’t mean that Orm isn’t still a complex character in the dceu.
I would add that Orm isn't really that complex in the comics either. I mean. He's a goodish king that loves his brother. To suddenly a tyrant who hates his brother.
I have no idea what is going on here, but I love it.
