Illinois loses $1.5 billion in taxable income to overseas havens every year

Illinois loses more taxable corporate income than any other state in the country except for California and New York, according to Reboot Illinois.

“By shifting profits offshore into what are known as tax havens, corporations can avoid paying some of the corporate taxes to the states they are based in. While it is a good business practice from the corporations’ standpoint, it hurts the states who would otherwise recoup that money.”
