@seasonsofjoanne
would you ever take maureen back?
In a heartbeat.
@tangcmaureens
Have you ever said anything you wish you could take back? If so what?
I regret every fight I have with Maureen. They’re usually fueled with passion and anger and afterwards I regret every moment of it.
@tangcmaureens
What do you think about Mark? What're your true opinions?
I want to hate him, I do. He’s Maureen’s first love and honestly, I don’t think she’ll ever really get over him. But I don’t think I can blame him, you know? He was here first and Maureen... well, it’s hard not to love her.
@tangcmaureens @screenplayed
does anyone else strike your fancy? or are you set on maureen?
I love Maureen and I always will, but I can’t be with her if I’m not 100% certain that she wants to be with me and only me. My jealousy gets the worst of me and next thing I know we’re both fighting and hurting. So, I’m trying this thing called moving on. Which means, yeah, there’s a few beautiful, successful women who’ve caught my eye.
@tangcmaureens
would you consider yourself hard to love?
Probably. I’m a control-freak, a snob. I’m over-attentive, easily jealous, I- Yeah. Yeah, I think I am.
do you ever miss maureen?
More than I like to admit. I mean, who wouldn’t?
@tangcmaureens
Have you ever touched human remains?
What? I’m a lawyer, not a mortician.

Roger nodded, arms crossed. The universe must’ve been playing a cruel joke on them, especially Mark, if Maureen and Joanne were here. Next thing he knew, Benny and April would be showing up. He knew that would be impossible, at least in April’s case, but impossible things seemed to be happening constantly around here. “ Sorry to hear that. ” He offered. “ What kinda job is it? Still… Lawyering? ”
Joanne hated to admit it, but her opinion of Roger was pretty skewed. Maureen had never been shy about her feelings for the guy and while Joanne still tried to hold a pretty unbiased opinion, it was kind of hard to. Sure you are, her brain supplied before she shook the thought away. She had no reason to dislike the guy. “Legally I’m not allowed to specify what it’s for, but, yeah. Some high profile case that I was apparently qualified for.”

“ AMERICA ? “, ALIZ MUSED as she nodded slowly. she had a hunch already, considering the other’s accent. but it was nice to get some confirmation. “ you just got here ? “, the woman continued, crossing her arms in front of her chest as she tilted her head a tad bit to the side. “ it’s very nice to meet you, joanne. “, aliz spoke as she shook her hand with a polite smile. “ d’you live in any of the apartments ? “, she asked as she pointed at the webber’s apartments behind them.
Joanne hummed in response, nodding. “Just a week ago,” she admitted, taking a moment to straighten out her suit jacket as she looked around. “It’s a pretty big culture shock, but I’m adjusting.” As much as she could, for having only been there for so little. “It’s nice to meet you, too.” Joanne’s handshake was firm and professional, just as her father had taught her way back when. “Oh, yeah, I actually live in the Emerald Apartments, ‘round the corner. You?”

SHE’D PUSHED UP ON her toes to twirl the girl, unable to stop her fit of giggles from leaving her lips, the height difference between the two girls had always been intriguing to her. but now they were closer, and maureen’s eyes stayed locked on the chocolate hues of her ex-fiancee, smile softening as she shrugged at the question, “eh, i suppose not, i wouldn’t want it any other way.” she admitted with a little scrunch of her nose as a wide smile spread it’s way along her face, sparkling in her eyes as she hummed at the sight of joanne smiling right back down at her. “it’s fine, i get it, it’s….intense.” maureen confirmed, reaching up to help tuck that loose strand behind joanne’s ear, teeth sinking into her bottom lip once more. “jojo, there will always be an us. it doesn’t matter in what category, there will always be an us.” she murmured, a little softer as her hand lingered along the girl’s cheek before shrugging, “how else did fate have us both in the same place at the same time? the universe is so ever-expanding!”
Joanne didn’t bother to try and hide the way she was feeling just then in that moment. She had spent the entire hour getting ready convincing herself that she was going to be selfish, for once. Maureen had invited her, Maureen wanted her around... and Joanne was going to allow herself to indulge in that feeling. She allowed her fingers to slip between Maureen’s, their interlocked fingers a casual reminder of how perfect they were together. “Good,” she said softly. Maureen’s hand grazed across Joanne’s cheek and Joanne fought off the urge to kiss her. She missed it, the way their lips would press together like they couldn’t ever get enough-- but more than that, she missed Maureen’s company. Her words. Her passions and interest. The wrong words threatened to pour from Joanne’s lips, phrases that were too soon for their reunion like, ‘I love you’ and ‘Take me back, baby,’ but Joanne was nothing if not someone with a little self-control. She smiled, instead, her spare hand settling on Maureen’s waist. “There will always be an us,” she confirmed. Destiny was working on her side, it seemed. “You wanna dance?”
crxtchiemorris:
“Ah, so yeah, you’re used to shitty traffic then.” He laughed with a shake of his head. If there was one thing he always heard about New York, well, it was about how shitty their transportation was and the traffic was well. And while London wasn’t exactly the best when it came to both, at least it seemed to be a bit better than what he had heard about. “I swear, you’re like the fifth person in the last two weeks that I’ve met who is from New York.” Which he honestly found pretty cool. For him, New York City had always been a dream. The bright lights, Broadway, it all appealed to him so much. “Mind me asking what brought you here?”
Joanne nodded, humming in response at first before adding in, “I don’t know why people even bother trying to drive there. The subway works well enough.” And it did. Joanne didn’t even take taxis when she was in New York, she only used the subway. “Oh wow, really?” She knew that some people that she knew from New York had made it to London somehow, but she hadn’t realized the world was really that small. “Oh, I’m here on a job. I’m not really at liberty to discuss it, but I should be here for at least six months.” That was the plan, at least.

viv watched the woman line up some shots and let her have the moment to down them, waiting with an impressed smirk. seeing her finish, viv’s brows furrowed together and she got a better look at her, smiling more when she realized who it was. “joanne? hey!” of course, vivienne had met the other lawyer briefly and the two hit it off but it didn’t really go anywhere. nonetheless, she was excited to see her again. “i didn’t expect to see you here. you know karyn?”
Joanne’s eyes fell on the girl as she spoke, her face lighting up with a grin as she recognized her. “Vivienne! It’s so good to see you,” she said, pleased to already feel the burn of the alcohol settling into her bloodstream. She turned to face Viv completely, leaning back against the countertop. “No, I was invited by-” What? Her ex? The love of her life? She couldn’t say either of that to Vivienne. “-a friend. Karyn, I’m guessing, is the hostess?”

* @seasonsofjoanne .
THE FILMMAKER SHOULD HAVE KNOWN that MAUREEN would be here. in the back of his mind, he wondered if he partly came because deep down … he did know. he hadn’t seen her since, well, similarly to a night like this, where he had drunkenly confessed that he was still in love with her. and there he was, watching her while on the other side of the room as she seemed to be getting comfortable with another woman. MARK rolls his eyes — just another victim fallen into her trap — and tries to make out the person she was sitting with.
HE RECOGNIZES HER. he doesn’t know where from, as he steps a little closer with his drink in his hand. he weaves around people, trying to not get caught staring. it's … the lawyer from BUZZLINE ? suddenly it clicks. and as MAUREEN gets up and walks away, he stumbles towards HER. ’ WAIT, ’ he says as he reaches her, all formalities out the window. ’ YOU’RE JOANNE ?! ’
Maureen had gone to get them drinks and Joanne found herself almost overwhelmed with how happy she felt. Years had passed but whatever it was that they had had before was still there. Though she knew she could never pretend that Maureen hadn’t just left, she had hope for something new with the woman and that much was probably painfully clear on her face to anybody watching. Joanne was still sprung over Maureen.
She hadn’t seen Mark until he was almost directly in front of her and concern washed over her features, her eyes glancing briefly at the drink in his hand. “Yes?” It came out sounding like a question, mostly because Joanne and Mark had met already and the journalist hadn’t really striked her as the forgetful type. “Are you okay, Mark?” And then, because she was ever the rational type. “Do you need some water?”
wundcrlust:
Persephone giggled, looking up at the other girl. “Well, thank you Joanne.” Pers cooed, one hand removing itself from her as she steadied herself. “Joanne, are you here with anyone tonight?” She asked. Normally Persephone wasn’t so…straightforward. But tonight she was feeling daring. And who was to stop her from flirting with a beautiful woman like this? “Because if you’re not, I would love to spend some time with you. And figure out how the hell you got that dress on” She grinned brilliantly, a flirtatious wink accompanying her last words.
Persephone was coming on strong and Joanne wasn’t complaining. She hated to say it, hated to even think it, but she wanted to forget even for one night about Maureen. She knew that the intoxicating woman would always have her claws in deep but for one night, Joanne wanted to pretend that she was capable of moving on. “I am now,” she said, stepping in close enough that her hand would graze along the woman’s waist. “Do you want to dance, Persephone?”
tangcmaureens:
IT WAS AS IF every time they were near each other, their bodies gravitated towards each other, and it proved true again as maureen felt herself being pulled ever so slightly towards the girl before her. laughing under her breath, she hummed a bit as she gave joanne a once over to admire her outfit once again, “well, you look….jesus, you look amazing joanne.” she was able to breathe out with a shake of her head, just in complete and utter awe. of course she thought joanne looked great all the time, but it was a rare moment of her dressing up and putting extra effort in, and deep down, she knew it was to impress her which only made her smile wider. “oh stop it, i think you’re just a little biased.” maureen teased as she reached out to take joanne’s hand easily, spinning her in front of her with a giggle, teeth sinking into her bottom lip with a slow nod, “i’m glad you did, and i’m glad you agreed to come tonight. i feel like our last talk was cut a little short.”
Joanne tried to wipe the smile from her face but found no matter what she did, it wouldn’t go away. She couldn’t explain it, but it was always like this with Maureen. The other would offer her a coy smile or pay her a compliment and Joanne would fall back in for her all over again. “Thank you,” she said in response, giving Maureen one more once over as the other took her hand and spun her. She laughed as she twirled closer to Maureen, allowing herself to indulge in whatever Maureen was willing to give. “Does that matter?” She asked, quirking an eyebrow in an attempt to be serious. Even then the smile never left her face, though that may have been because Maureen and Joanne were still holding hands. “Sorry about that,” she started, pushing a strand of hair out of her own face. “I was just trying to restrain myself, I... wasn’t sure how you felt about us. If there even is an us anymore.”
musicplaying:
“ Didn’t know you moved either. ” The last Roger had heart, Joanne and Maureen were engaged and Mark was heartbroken… Part of him distantly remembered them breaking up, but couldn’t remember if it was before or after the engagement, so he turned with an eyebrow raised. “ You here with Maureen? ” He had a hard time believing that both of them showing up was a coincidence. And if that was the case, why had Maureen been asking about Mark?
Joanne shrugged, wishing that could be answer enough. It wasn’t and they both knew it, so she added. “I’m just here for a job.” And when it was over, she’d probably wind up moving back home. That was the plan, at least. She shook her head at his question. “She dumped me a few years back,” was all she offered. Maureen had just up and left, but Joanne had long since forgiven her. Seeing the other here should have broken her heart, but all it did was give Joanne hope for the two of them.
tangcmaureens:
AT THIS POINT IN THE night, maureen was at that comfortable level of tipsy, not too drunk but not entirely sober…just enough to make her feel a little more at ease seeing joanne standing there. she looked beautiful, she always did, but in that dress and those heels that had maureen’s eyes drawing up her long legs…she was to die for. smiling widely back at the girl who held her attention, she nodded slowly as she hummed, “yeah that might have something to do with it….i’m glad you finally made it though.” and truth be told, she probably would’ve waited for joanne all night if she had to after their short run in that rainy day, “since when do you care about being fashionably late? are you trying to come for my title?” she teased as she scanned joanne again, whistling under her breath ever-so-slightly, “although, you do look absolutely jaw-dropping…i don’t remember the last time i saw you in a dress?”
Joanne pushed towards Maureen, her goal clear in her own mind. She would be unabashed and unapologetic. If it wasn’t clear by her outfit, she had every intention of winning Maureen back and by the way the other was eating it up, it was working. “If I’m being completely honest, I underestimated how long it’d take me to get ready.” She hadn’t been out like this in years and she forgot how much work it took. Otherwise, she was the type of person to show up fairly early to an event. “I don’t think anybody could beat you, though you can’t blame them for trying.” Her own eyes passed over Maureen as she stepped in closer, enough that it was clear they were together but not too close it’d scare Maureen away. “Thank you. This was definitely an impulse buy that I almost didn’t wear but-” it was worth every second, with how Maureen was looking at her. “I figured it should see a night out, at least once.”
