Valentineâs Day On The Green || Seblaine
Sebastian nodded when Blaine basically said what he had been thinking. It did feel much longer than that. Eighteen months wasnât really that long, in the grand scheme of things, but a lot had happened in that short amount of time. They had really spoken for the first time, started dating, moved in together, and gotten married all in that expanse of time, which was really quite impressive. Not only that, but it was incredibly hard to remember what his life had been like before he had hooked up with Blaine a year and a half ago. Looking back on it, it was like that wasnât even him. He had changed so much, whether he was willing to admit it or not, and fortunately it had been in a good way. A very good way. âI never thought you meant it in a bad way,â he laughed when Blaine felt the need to explain himself, shaking his head affectionately at his husband. They were both happier now, so much happier than they had ever been before, which was probably why it felt like so long. Or at least that was what he was going to assume. He rolled his eyes as their conversation turned back to the flowers, finding Blaine just as ridiculous and adorable as always. âIf I had told you they were coming, then they wouldnât have been surprise flowers,â he reminded him, as if it were obvious. He had wanted to impress Blaine, after all, and that was something he had definitely done, even if the otherâs reactions apparently hadnât been what he had been expecting. âAnd I donât think you really expected me to wake up and immediately wish you a happy Valentineâs Day,â he added after a beat. That definitely would have been too thoughtful of him⊠and it also probably would have led to sex, which then would have put him rushed or, more likely late, for his morning class. Not like it wouldnât have been worth it, but still. He was trying to be a good student for once in his life, and getting back into that bad habit of being late or skipping class definitely wouldnât help that.
His gaze flickered from the CD down to Blaine as the other settled down in front of him, and he immediately reached out to tuck a stray curl behind the otherâs ear. Well, someone was definitely feeling proud of himself, and Sebastian understood why. Even he knew how big of a deal it was to finish an entire CD, and he was feeling quite proud himself. How he had managed to bag such a sexy, talented husband heâd never know. âNot sure if theyâre any good?â he repeated, quirking a brow at that. Blaine was being too humble, just like always. That was something he was going to have to get over eventually, but Sebastian supposed they could work on that another day. âB, Iâm sure theyâre amazing. Just like everything else you write.â He winked at him playfully, setting the CD back down on the nightstand next to his phone so he wouldnât forget to grab it on their way out. His attention turned back to Blaine when the other mentioned that the songs were different than his others, wondering exactly what he meant by that. His husband had definitely developed a style, which he had assumed was a good thing, and he hadnât quite expected him to change it. But what did he know about music? âDifferent how?â he asked curiously, wondering if Blaine was going to just tell him to listen to the CD and find out. That would be such a cop out answer, one that would leave him pressing for more, of course. Because it wasnât like he understood enough about music to know the difference just by listening, that is, unless it was a much bigger difference than he thought.
He paused in the doorway of the bathroom when he felt Blaineâs arms wrap around him, humming quietly in response to the otherâs little kiss. âA bad distraction?â he repeated with a little snort, shaking his head. âOh no. It would definitely be a good distraction. A very good distraction.â He turned his head, meeting the otherâs lips somewhat awkwardly in a brief kiss. âBut unfortunately for us, Iâve made plans, so weâre going to have to try to stave off the distractions until later.â No matter how much they didnât want to, or really, he didnât want to. Why he had ever booked them a reservation he had no idea. OH, wait, it was because he knew that Blaine would like to actually get dressed up and go out to dinner for once. Right. So heâd just have to power through and get over it, which he didnât think would be too hard, especially since Blaine wasnât the only one looking forward to their evening out. He tossed his boxers onto the counter before shimmying out of the ones he was wearing and stepping into the hot water of the shower. He didnât take too long, as it wasnât like he was that dirty, and he was out in just a few moments. He tugged on his clean underwear as he stepped into their closet, chewing on the inside of his cheek as his eyes roamed over his row of carefully hung suits. Hm. Saying he had no idea of what to wear might have been a bit of an understatement, though it wasnât like it really mattered. Heâd look stunning in anything, so it wasnât like he could make a wrong choice. âB, which one do you think for tonight?â he called, glancing towards the bedroom. He thought that since he had made a fashion decision for Blaine, the other could make one for him. It was only fair.
âNoâŠbut it wouldâve been niceâŠâ Blaine grinned, not that it mattered anymore, because heâd more than made up for that, and Blaine was beyond happy, no question of a doubt, he had the best husband in the world. He continued to sort out his outfit to wear that night after handing his husband his CD, wanting to look his absolute best, but Sebastian was still taking about the music, So Blaine just smiled and walked over to him, shrugging his shoulders a little in response. âTheyâre more romantic compared to my usual stuff,â he explained, which was why heâd thought it would be appropriate to give it to Sebastian today of all days. âYouâre supposed to say that, youâre my husband, itâs part of your job to be biased,â he joked, not that he minded, having Sebastian on his side was the biggest ego boost heâd ever need, heâd never met anyone with as much confidence in him that Sebastian did. It was a good thing though, such a good thing, especially when Blaine started to doubt himself over something, Sebastian always new how to pick him up again, he had it down to an art now. âYouâll see what I mean though when you play it, it has a slightly different sound compared to my old stuff,â He knew Sebastian didnât know too much about music, but he knew that he recognised good music when he heard it, and he valued his opinion more than anyone else, so if Sebastian didnât like it, then that would be enough for Blaine to scrap it and start again.
Blaine chuckled quietly, giving Sebastian a little squeeze, âRight, I promised to be good, didnât I?â he grinned, pressing a kiss to Sebastianâs neck, âOkay, Iâll be good, go shower so we can eat,â he laughed, nodding as Sebastian reminded him that they had dinner plans, which of course he was still excited about, a part of him still unable to believe that Sebastian had managed to get them into that place. While Sebastian was finishing up int he shower, Blaine set about preparing his husbandâs final surprise, before getting dressed properly and picking up his comb and gel so that he could style his hair, he knew Sebastian would tell him otherwise, but there was no way that he was going out tonight without his curls secured behind the gel. He just couldnât do it. As Sebastian slipped out of the shower and headed towards their closet, Blaine walked into the bathroom, scooping up some gel and applying it to his hair, combing his hair through it, until he was satisfied that he looked his best. He washed the remains of the gel off his hands, then moved to fix his bow tie, so that it was straight behind his neck, before hearing his name being called and moved to answer straight away, never one to keep Sebastian waiting.
He smiled, leaning against the door of their closet, eyes trailing hungrily over his husband, managing to pull himself together so that he could really pay attention to him. âWell, you already said that you were going to wear navy to match with this,â he shrugged, pointing to the bow tie around his neck, âWhat about something red? Like a deep red? Iâm sure youâve got something in here somewhereâŠ?â Their closet was quite vast, and it had definitely doubled in size since theyâd got married, but he supposed that was what happened, and when Sebastian was as keen to spend his money as he was, Blaine didnât see that changing any time soon, as the other was always spoiling them both in some way.
âIf you wanted nice then youâre in the wrong marriage,â Sebastian teased, winking at his husband playfully. He listened as Blaine told him about his new CD, arching a brow when the other finally explained. âMore romantic?â he repeated. âDidnât know you could even get more romantic, B.â His smile showed that he was teasing, or at least mostly teasing. âThough I would assume that would be because youâre happily married now. A lot of things have changed since your old stuff.â He had always heard that artists drew off of the phases in their life, especially musical artists, and Blaine was definitely in a completely different phase of his life now, thanks to him. He shrugged a bit when Blaine told him it was his job to be biased, which was true, but he had thought Blaine was good before the bias had really crept in. Blaine was good, that was that, and he didnât have to just be biased to see it. Anyone who had any sense about them could see it. He rolled his eyes as Blaine continued with exactly what he thought he was going to say, though he changed his mind and decided not to press it. âWhatever you say, B,â he replied, deciding to humor him and not ask any more questions. Instead heâd just listen to the CD and learn for himself. He hadnât listened to any of Blaineâs old music in a while, since he hadnât really listened to anything recently, but he had heard all of his songs so many times that he knew them all by heart, though he wasnât really willing to admit that. Heâd have to remember to take the time for this CD though, as Blaineâs career definitely deserved his time and his attention. Theyâd have time to talk later though when they were having dinner, plenty of time, so he made his way into the shower so he could start getting ready. The hot water was enough to wash all the stress from the day off of him, and as he rolled his shoulders back he could feel the tension dissolving. Good. The last thing either of them needed was for him to be on edge about his school work during dinner. Luckily for them both this semester had been easier than the last, so he wasnât quite so bogged down, but it was still law school and it was still incredibly stressful. He pushed all of that to the back of his mind now though, leaving his list of things to do for tomorrow, as he wanted his focus tonight to be completely on his husband. He stepped out and dried off before turning his attention to what was probably the hardest decision he was going to have to make tonight: what to wear. Maybe if he had cared a little bit more about his fashion choices this wouldnât have been so hard, but he was feeling indecisive today. He had gotten to the point where he just threw things on for school, as that was what was easiest, but tonight couldnât be like that. He had to look a little more put together than he normally did, which was why he called Blaine in to the rescue. He nodded a bit when his husband reminded him that he had said something about navy, scratching absently at his chest as his eyes sought out a navy suit. âRed? Itâs that a little clichĂ© for Valentineâs Day?â he asked, already knowing the answer to his question. He did pick out a navy suit, hanging it up to the side as they picked out a shirt. âMaybe Iâll just do a red tie.â That seemed a little better, a little less of that bright color. Color wasnât really his thing, after all. Heâd leave that to Blaine, even though the other was looking a little more toned down than usual. Probably because of the fancy location, or at least that was what he was assuming.
