Reminder: Sephiroth is 23-25 during Crisis Core. Around 21-23 during the year this scene takes place. And that's not even factoring exact dates.
They were exploiting him as a toddler, if not fresh out of the womb. A fanclub for a baby. A disgusting invasion of privacy for a tiny child not yet out of diapers. A child just learning to walk and talk. A child who could not consent to his boundaries being violated every. single. day.
Because just because Harmonix won't make it doesn't mean I can't come up with something.
For all my followers who know nothing about Dance Central, Dance Central 3 ended by teasing that the Glitterati would be the villains of the next game, taking advantage of DCI being stretched so thin by Dr.Tan's evil plan to properly fight back.
The player arrives to DCI headquarters, which is in chaos. Rasa and Lima explain that their systems have gone down and that they are unable to reach out to the other agents or even monitor the city. They need to power Boomy with star energy to try to stabilize the systems (thus introducing the player to Boomy, getting stars, etc.)
After the intro song, Rasa and Lima determine that they have gotten DCI's basic systems back online, however most of the systems are still down. They also suspect that the failure was a sabotage, but they don't know yet.
To fully restart the systems and figure out what happened, Rasa and Lima need all hands on deck. Without communications, however, they can't contact the agents. Thus they send the player to find the agents and send them back to headquarters to help with fixing things.
Currently they only know the whereabouts of D-Coy, as they were sent on a recon mission shortly before the systems went down. They send the player to join them, help them finish their mission, and then send them back to headquarters.
The player goes to meet Dare and McCoy. They explain that they have come to a roadblock in their mission. The player dances to some songs with them, allowing them to finish their tasks.
As they get ready to go back to DCI headquaters, Dare tells the players that Emilia mentioned Riptide Crew would be partaking in a dance competition today at the stage hall. She suggest the player catch them there so they can be updated on the situation.
At the competition, Emilia and Bodie are happy to see the player, explaining that one of their crew members flaked at the last moment due to "receiving an offer for dropping out". They aren't able to compete unless they can get another crew member ASAP.
The player dances with Riptide, helping them win the competition. The player then tells Riptide about the situation at DCI. Emilia wonders if DCI and it's agents are being sabotaged and suggests that this has "Dr. Tan written all over it."
Emilia tells the player to go meet Oblio, who is working at the dance studio downtown. If anyone would know what Dr.Tan is doing, it would be him!
The player arrives at the Dance Studio to meet Oblio and Hart, who are co-teaching a class. Hart explains that she works part time at the dance studio to supplement her hours at the club. Oblio got her the job as the two became close after the events of DCVR, where she stood up for him against Dr.Tan.
Oblio tells the player that the two have to finish the class before they can speak, but that the player is welcome to help. The player dances with the two, completing the class.
Oblio is distressed to hear of the potential sabotages and rushes off to see if his father is planning anything. He tells the player he will contact them or DCI as soon as he knows more. Hart, meanwhile, tells the player the location of Lush crew, having come to the studio after hanging out with Miss Aubrey.
The cycle continues. The player meets a crew, the crew has something that is going wrong, the player helps them fix it by dancing with them. Once the player meets with the last crew, Rasa and Lima tell the player to come back to headquarters, as all systems are back online.
At DCI, Rasa and Lima explain that they found the cause of the system failure: DCI was attacked by malware!
Having not heard back from Oblio (and his phone going straight to voicemail whenever anyone has tried to contact him), DCI assumes that Dr.Tan is behind the attack and that he has likely captured Oblio to either force him to be part of his plan or just keep him out of the way.
The player briefly trains with the DCI crew to ensure they are ready for the final showdown.
DCI rush to Tan's Estate, only to be greeted by....Eliot?
Eliot tells DCI that he has imprisoned Dr.Tan and Oblio (who is dramatically revealed to be tied to a chair in the background).
Eliot explains that after DC1, Dr.Tan shut him off and threw him into storage, deeming Eliot "obsolete." Having recently been turned back on by two kind strangers, Eliot took over Tan's Estate and imprisoned Dr.Tan. He wants revenge for being shut off!
When Oblio arrived to confront Tan, Eliot captured him too, although not to seek revenge against. Instead, he views Oblio as something like a brother and is trying to convince Oblio to join him. Meanwhile Oblio is not super on board with killing Dr.Tan, even if Tan has also wronged him in the past.
DCI battles Eliot, who they are able to defeat. They also convince him not to become evil and to instead seek to live his own life, separate from Dr.Tan.
After freeing Oblio (and Dr.Tan), the question of who sent the malware, sabotaged the crews, and turned Eliot back on remains.
That's when the Glitterati reveal themselves, admitting to causing the chaos.
The player throwdowns with them, wins, and the story mode comes to an end shortly after with everyone celebrating.
Yessss make a song list!!!! My only request is the Pink Pony Club be included with Oblio as the default dancer cause that song is basically the plot of DCVR.
I am one of the people who is definitely not thrilled about the whole dlc thing for the last part. My main concern is that they are gonna rush important plot points and force people to buy the dlcs to fill in the gaps. I just hope they dont fumble Sephiroth's story in revelation. They said that we were going to the learn more about him in rebirth and nothing was shown. Idk... 😭
Is there going to be a lot of dlc for the last part? I haven't been following the development too closely so I don't know exactly what the plan is. I'm hopeful, regardless, they don't rush things as you fear!!! Fingers crossed!!!

...and then him proceeding to be disgustingly mushy and clingy and affectionate and kiss kiss kissing Cloud's face 24/7 because what do you MEAN you were worried about getting impaled again? Sephiroth would NEVER! Go put your slippers on, beloved. Sephiroth baked you some snickerdoodles. They're best enjoyed in bed. Did you want some hot tea with that? Sephiroth will be right on it, treasure. Right as soon as he's done pre-fluffing your pillows for you ❤️

Been playing Rebirth and I just got through with everyone’s trials. When Cloud said he would stay put I was at first disappointment that Cloud wasn’t don’t get his own trial until I quickly realize that his trial would’ve likely been about Zack’s death since Tifa’s own trial was about the Nibelheim incident and her dad’s death which is something he should not be finding out this soon.
But I couldn’t help I imagine a different trial for Cloud where he’s suddenly back at Shinra HQ and he’s in his old cadet uniform. He’s wandering the halls and eventually opens a random door, that door leads him to Sephiroth’s office. The general is sitting at his desk doing paperwork looking rather bored or annoyed that is until he sees Cloud, his expression quickly changes as he smiles at him, a genuine smile nothing like the creepy ones that Cloud seen from him during his and the others’ journey. Sephiroth gets up and starts walking too Cloud who instinctively reaches for his sword only to realize that it’s gone. Then Sephiroth reaches him and when he does he pulls Cloud into a gentle embrace which shocks Cloud because never in a million years would he expect this from Sephiroth, and when he finally pulls away he even caresses Cloud’s face and asks him how training went. Cloud is too stunt to answer back but Sephiroth just looks at him amused before leaning in and kissing him. Cloud freezes as the kiss continues and when Sephiroth finally pulls away he laugh warmly at Cloud’s reaction and calls him his “Silly little cadet.”
When all their trials are finally over and Aerith is giving her speech to the party, Cloud is barely listening as all he can think about was the kiss from Sephiroth.
Meanwhile Sephiroth is sulking because a fake version of himself got to kiss his Cloud and even used the cute title he would sometimes call him. But at least this means Cloud is aware of their love.
See, the only reason they didn't put that in the game is that they plan to sell a $5 billion DLC featuring a sefikura kiss, and it will be worth every single penny.

Plot twist: Since Cloud is from Nibelheim, he probably grew up drinking. So Cloud is actually also a time traveller playing dumb in order to fuck with Sephiroth.
Alternatively, he isn't a time traveller, but he's not going to drink some weak-ass Midgar wine. Give him 50% ABV that will probably make him go blind or give him DEATH. He doesn't want this blood-wine-fruit-punch NONSENSE! In fact, he's actually going to go check on the moonshine he's making in his dorm room after this.
Imagine if the Sefikura child au existed in a soulmate au. Aerith grows up knowing that Cloud and Tifa aren’t soulmates, they tell her not everyone finds their soulmates or they do but they aren’t compatible with each other so there are plenty of people who end up together that aren’t soulmates, and even though they aren’t both Cloud and Tifa are happy to be together and love each other, and that’s what’s important. For a long time Aerith is ok knowing that her parents aren’t soulmates, especially when it helps her feel less nervous about if she meets her soulmate one day and their not compatible. But that all changes when she meets her real dad Sephiroth who not only tells her that’s that he is her father and Cloud is her mother, and how days before her birth AVALANCHE had come and stolen her and her mother while killing him in the process when he tried to protect them, he also tells her that him and Cloud are soulmates even showing her his soulmate mark which is identical to Cloud’s. Every time she meet up with Sephiroth he makes sure tells her about the importance of a soulmate and how they complete one another, just like how her mother completes him and he completes Cloud, and how her soulmate will complete her when she meets them one day.

Hear me out: Cloud and Sephiroth also weren't originally soulmates, but when Sephiroth gained the power to become Safer Sephiroth, he literally rewrote fate to make Cloud be his soulmate.
Cloud wasn't lying when he said not every soulmate was compatible. Despite what Sephiroth insists, Cloud is not happy or compatible with him. Lots of evil ideas.
I wonder if being soulmates has any effects on people. Can you sense your soulmate from afar? Is not being compatible with your soulmate distressing? Lots of questions to ponder!!
Years ago Hojo had built special collars made to cancel out the enhanced strength of SOLIDERs for whatever reason, like if one was found out of being a traitor for example. Growing up Sephiroth was forced to wear the collar many times for many different reasons. Anytime one was around his neck he felt more like an animal than a person.
Years later Sephiroth returns again and he goes to one of the abandoned Shinra facilities that has yet to be cleared out and there he finds some of the collars. A few days later Cloud wakes up in a bedroom that is not his, with a collar around his neck. Sephiroth had ambushed Cloud, knocked him out by casting sleep on him, and put the collar on him and brought him to a home he made for the two of them to live in together. Sephiroth explains to Cloud what the collar is and how if he’s a good puppet and obeys, and doesn’t try to escape then Sephiroth will eventually unlock the collar with the key he has hidden somewhere where Cloud will never find it, and Cloud were to act up again after that then the collar will go back on him.
Evil! Cruel! Delightful! I always love fics/ideas where Sephiroth takes advantage of something originally meant to control or harm him and then uses it to his advantage. Like the collar in this case! I'm sure he has some conflicting feelings about everyday having to look at the collar that hurt him so much as a child, but hey! He knows it works! Cloud isn't getting away from him this time!
