Cute.
Have a series of excited and affectionate pings. ::Commander! I've missed you!::
[Nightfall, itâs been too long.]
[I presume youâve been keeping my armada in line while Iâve been gone, yes?]
therisingdarkness:
A mech cannot miss his bondmate? I must have reasons? Starscream, as ever, you wound me.
....Give me your location.
Iâll be on-planet in an hour.
therisingdarkness:
Weâve made do in your absence.
And though normally Iâd commend your intuition for performing its due diligence, Iâve no ulterior motive. Iâm glad to have you back, Starscream, enough to warrant a bit of daring.
What happened while I was gone that youâve finally gotten up the nerve to stop acting like you donât worship me? Because honestly, I could get used to this.
therisingdarkness:
Iâm certain you did everything within your power to paint us in the best light, despite the severity of the situationâŠor the reality of our war. Our crew has grown by a few numbers, and weâve made headway in establishing a port of commerce between this universe and the multiverse. We are not without direction, or supplies. What we lack now is botpower.
Regardless, I amâŠwithout words to describe how pleased I am to have you back. The Nemesis has not been the same without you.Â
How forward of you.
Donât tell me, you missed my flawless plans, perfect leadership, and commanding aura, right? Because Iâm very skeptical that you missed me.
therisingdarkness:
How unsurprising. Where did you go? I tried keeping in touch butâŠwe grew so busy at times, I fear I neglected the bond more often than not.
Iâve been... occupied. Our relations with the other races dotted in our galaxy werenât left particularly well after the war, and nearly all of them loathe us. None were pleased at our return and would have preferred to see us die out--Iâve been convincing them otherwise. That our returned presence can be beneficial to all parties involved.
It took a lot of convincing. I doubt I really sold them on anything, but at least for the foreseeable future, no armies will be coming to slaughter us in our collective recharge. So I havenât been as attentive to the bond either, I suppose...
In spite of what youâve been told, I once had a soul.

::AutobotâŠ..?::
::You do know that the war is over, right? Megatron is on our ship and everything.::
[As it is in mine. But the war being over hasnât changed all that much, in my experience, regardless of universe.]
I feel as if I've taken the longest recharge session of my entire life.
And here I thought you were getting actual work done, my dearest bondmate.
Ugh, donât get sappy on me when Iâve just woken up.Â
And for your information, I was working. Myself into the ground, as a matter of fact. I must have needed to defrag something nasty, for me to have slept that long.

Is it true you cut off Megatron's servo while he was in recharge because he got a little too 'handsy'?
There could be nothing truer. I was sick of his advances and his apparent deafness to my protestations, so during one of his rare recharge cycles I made myself so clear not even he could misconstrue my meaning.
Rather Be
Megatronâs slow laughter filled the void of the bridge as he slowly turned to look down at Starscream, perched on the edge of the console as though it were a throne.
âYouâd like that, wouldnât you?â he asked, sidling up to his Second and resting his bulk against the station nearest. It groaned beneath his weight, but held firm, anchored to the floor like the last working piece of machinery in the whole ship.
âBig, directionless army, all to yourself? Exceptionally loyal metrotitan to command? My throne, still warm from the last time I took a break?â
He was careful to keep his servo from touching Starscreamâs, but the bond was adamant that he establish contact. It needed something from them that it couldnât extract on its own, that little spark of connection, the single focal point where their frames touched and the spark flowed through them as if they were one.
The tyrant sighed with his entire frame, metal groaning and shifting like the piece beneath his aft, and he wondered if it werenât ironic that he and Starscream, relics of a world long past, were the only working pieces inside their decrepit old ship.
âYouâd make a magnificent figurehead,â he murmured, brushing their arms and allowing that spark to zip through his lines like excess charge. âDo you really want me back that badly?â
âYou? I suppose. Iâd accept you back with minimal complaint.â Starscream uncrossed his legs and crossed them again, pointedly not noticing or rebuffing Megatronâs touch.
âAs for the Decepticons, you can keep them.â His wings fluttered at his back, a visible signal of his contentment at the idea. A few eons ago it had been all Starscream wanted, all he fought to take from the other, something heâd regularly attempted to kill and betray for. Now, ruling their ragtag army felt like a consolation prize.
âIâve got a city waiting for me,â he said, smirking in the dark at his bonded, smiling in a way to remind Megatron what the cost would be for breaking their deal. It had been the foundation for all they had built upon since, and whether or not it all came crumbling down depended on what would happen after Cybertron was restored.
A part of Starscream would have taken a dark pleasure in seeing Megatron fulfill his expectations; in seeing him prove that nothing had changed, that he hadnât changed. That part of him was ready to fight again, lash out and rend them both until they were just as theyâd been before, when violence had been easy and promises were pretty words.Â
The rest of Starscream soundly beat it into silence. What they had now, it was good. It was right. It was how equals functioned. How bonded functioned. Things could and would stay this way, and the Seeker was selfish enough to guarantee it. The memories of his past self demanded retribution from Megatron and fought in his processor to play again and again, to keep him angry, hateful. Starscreamâs present self was less and less interested in dwelling on all that had come before, when when so much was cresting on the horizon.
He leaned into Megatronâs arm, engine idling comparable to a purr. It echoed in the vastness of the bridge. Carrying from station to station, up the vaulted ceiling to the dusty floors, it eventually settled back on the two of them. Hearing it, Starscreamâs expression became distant, and he curbed the noise of internal mechanisms until they were soft and only he could hear them. Still, the vibrations shook them both.
âIt wonât be long now,â he said. âCybertron. Itâs so close. Another decacycle away, and then...â
(meme) Ten? {What do you really feel for Starscream?}
He disgusts me, is hideous, and I want nothing to do with him. Ever.
