Comic about domestic abuse to accompany Endeavor’s redemption arc. (-: “Success is the warmest place to hide.”

I feel like showing her face is kind of on the nose but it was also important to me to draw it.  Like.. this is what it looks like when you hit someone and this is what their family sees for the month or so it takes to heal (or until the next incident).

I really appreciate how Horikoshi displayed in the most recent arc that success is the warmest place to hide(*) for an abuser.  In that people are eager to overlook or minimize abuse in exchange for a person’s contribution to society.  Also I respect the care Horikoshi has taken to show how much compromise there is in an abusive household and how differently the affected can react.  Fav character arc for me so far, hope it’ll continue to be expanded. (-:

* Terry Crews’ speech on growing up in an abusive household and what unwanted traits he picked up from it is a worthwhile watch.

tbh I started thinking about this comic two years ago but it was hard to convey what I wanted.  I wrote a handful of iterations of the story (I really wanted to include smol ryoma) but this ended up being the easiest to translate into a comic

I've always liked how Xander reprimands Corrin for being too soft on Hoshidans even though he's fully aware she's from Hoshido?? The last page is more of a bonus page, because I wanted to draw the sound of Xander’s heart breaking. More royal comics to come~ (imgur mirror)
