In Washington State we feel so very #blessed because our lawmakers are, in general, we tend to think, pretty much on the right side of history. Sure, there are the occasional…um…challenging personalities (**cough matt manweller cough**) but for the most part, we feel safe and secure in the knowledge that yes, a fascist and a racist antisemitic propagandist are going to be rolling around on the floor of the Oval together, but our lawmakers here at home have got our backs.
Right?
Au contraire, my lovelies. See, even though we have some pretty strong leaders here in Washington, we have become entirely too complacent. Sure, we duked it out for Senate seats and did…ok…but for such a blue state, Washington is lagging when it comes to being a leader.
So. Part of your job this week is to drum up some courage and call. Your. Lawmakers.
Here’s a little script we’ve put together:
Hi, I’m [Your Name],
I’m calling today to ask what your office is doing to protect the citizens of Washington State. Recent comments from President-elect Trump have underscored his intention to deport millions of Americans, roll back reproductive rights, and ignore or actively contribute to global climate change. Can you tell me what your office intends to do to invest in and protect Washington’s residents?
But I mean, you can say whatever you want.
Call Patty Murray. Call Maria Cantwell. Call Rick Larson. Call Denny Heck. CALL YOUR CONGRESSIONAL LEADERS BECAUSE SOMEONE NEEDS TO BE AN ADULT RIGHT NOW.
