Something sad and sweet, i donât know if this was the first time Donald found out he was a cyborg. Kind of funny how Cecil had his skin melted off and now Donald is here with no skin.
A little minific/character thing about why Cecil and Donald are on a first-name basis :>
âDirector Stedman.â Donald pulled Cecilâs attention away from his computer. âI have all the files you requested.â
Cecilâs eyes flitted up as Donald set a heavy stack of folders at the end of his desk. Within armâs reach but not in his way. Without him even having to ask. An itch formed in the back of his mind.
âThank you, Donald.â Cecil said absently, eyes returning to the screen in front of him. His fingers hovered over the keyboard. Not typing.
Director Stedman. Cecil frowned as he chased the words around in his head. The title was a respectful formality that Donald hadn't slipped up on even once. It was professional. Polite. The way he was meant to be addressed.
Cecil, in return, hadnât been as cordial. âDonaldâ was all he ever really called his right hand. The first time he had used âDonaldâ had been an intentional act of over-familiarity. Something unprofessional he should have been confronted over. Not an outright insult, but something a less generous man wouldn't have been so inclined to let lie.Â
But, Donald wasnât a less generous man. In truth, he might have been the most generous man Cecil had ever met.
Donald never flinched at Cecil's pushing and prodding. Even in those first weeks. Those first few days. Any little tests or jibes thrown Donaldâs way just seemed to roll off him like water. Any questions Cecil had were answered quickly and sincerely. In no time at all, Cecil found himself easing up. He started to actually know Donald. Dare he say like Donald.
That fake familiarity had started to feel real and, by that point, Donald had more than earned Cecilâs respect.
 âWould you prefer if I called you Ferguson?â Cecil brought his full attention to the man before him, though he kept his tone carefully neutral.
Donald took a moment to respond, seeming a little caught off guard. âNo, sir. Donald is just fine.â He paused again. âUnless you would prefer Ferguson?â
âNo.â Cecil replied flippantly. âI think Iâll stick with Donald.â
Donald stood steady. And quiet. As though he was trying to figure out Cecil's train of thought.
âShould I call you something other than Stedman?â
Should he? It was a personal line Cecil wasnât sure he wanted to do away with quite yet. A risk of rejection he might not be able to take.
âCecil.â He decided not to overthink it. âWouldn't be right for only one of us to be on a first-name basis.âÂ
âGreat.â Cecil fought a smile off his own face. Turning away from Donald and back to his work. âNow get out of my office.â Cecil waved Donald away.
âI suppose it wouldnât.â An honest smile spread across Donaldâs face. âCecil.â
âIâll be around if you need anything else, sir.â
âI know you will, Donald.â
As he left the room, Cecil admitted to himself that he'd have to forget about keeping Donald at arm's length.

I just adore the idea of Mr "brought order to chaos in prison" being terrified of 3 kids. And I mean, they all have superpowers, so there's a reason for the stress đ§đ§đ§
