“Yes, you may call yourself what you wish,” he sighed, the frustration evident in his voice as he continued walking. “But to say that you’re not while you-- very obviously-- are... it’s not only a lie, but a disservice... to yourself.” He wrung his hands as he lead her forward. “I don’t throw a tantrum when one of your betrayer friends calls me a-- a greedmonger-- or a filthy capitalist. And why should I? They’re right, after all... yes...”

– Vull didn’t want to argue with that notion, but she had to. Despite how faulty she seemed there still was an order that she had been given, and had to follow, even if she really wanted to see the Corpus man torn apart.

– Though while she had said it would be disconnected, the feed was left open for a bit longer. Teshin did not want to talk to Alad V but that did not mean he was not listening. If Alad decided to do something about the situation, Teshin would rather have some sort of warning beforehand or to simply give in and see what he had wanted to talk about in the first place.
For a moment, Alad bathed in the silence. With a knowing smirk he let it linger... it was as if there was a thick glass wall between him and Teshin...and he was staring him down. “You know, I had thought the Dax had a bit more politesse than this. Apparently I was mistaken,” he said, looking down at his gloved fingertips. For another moment he let the silence return. He knew his time and the old soldier’s patience was running short, but he couldn’t help but gloat. “Teshin-- may I call you Teshin?-- really, we could stay here all day, wasting time-- as you people do best-- and pretend there’s not something that’s been kept from me.” The anger in his voice was palpable now, the playful side of his demeanor cast aside in an instant. “I have a right to know these things, too. About the Tenno.... about their Mother.”

The woman at the counter nodded, getting up from her seat. “Very well, Sir.” She smiled “Your associate already has a table for you in the VIP room. Allow me to lead you to it.”
The woman led the Corpus Director to the back of the shop. Multiple thresholds to small rooms lined the walls, each one packed with people of different factions, all their qualms put on hold for the simple sake of a peaceful drink. At the end of the hall was a room bigger then the others, a curtain parting it from the view of others. As the woman pulled the curtain open, the figure of a young child sat at the table inside.
“I was hoping you would come, Alad V.” He said, taking a sip of his tea “Please, sit down. I was looking for an opponent to play komi with.”
"And you’re... ‘Worthwhile’, I presume. Hmmh.” He gestured to dismiss the serving woman quickly, his face making no apparent sign of recognizing her presence otherwise. Meetings centered around business were practically a sacred thing to the Corpus, and Alad would have no other parties privy to this particular one.
As soon as she left, Alad huffed and sat down opposite of his potential partner, his posture much straighter than usual. As much as he loathed wasting time, he understood the importance of little greetings like this. He would play this game, both figuratively and literally. “I’m afraid I’d make a poor opponent,” he lied, “It has been such a... long time since I last played. Though, I was somewhat skilled in my youth... Yes.” The tone in his voice was... odd, even to those who only vaguely knew him. His visor flipped down over his eyes-- Komi was played with the mind, but one’s eyes often revealed their innermost thoughts. Best to cover his bluffs. Gesturing again with a dismissive hand, he peered down at the board. “Black plays first, to my recollection. It's your move.”

She didn’t have time to listen to him tease and gloat. In fact she had half a mind to cut him off again right now.
“If you sought out this signal just to waste both our time with your mocking, then we are done here. Goodbye Alad.”
“nuh-uh-uh!” The signal flickered, but wouldn’t cut-- It would take much more than that, it seemed. “I’ve got things to discuss with you, old friend. Yes. A few things.” There was frustration in his voice, but also that sick amusement she’d know well.
“Perhaps you’d care to explain to me these... Betrayers that’ve come after me. They’re not-- hnnh-- yours, are they? Odd. I thought they were all your little children, Lotus-- Oh, no, what did that... overgrown lobster call you...? Oh... right. Natah.”

She finally acknowledged him. Keeping her focus on the Tenno she was assisting.
“How did you reach this signal?”
“Oh yes, let me just tell you precisely how so you can be rid of me once and for all. Hmnh.” He was relieved she answered, but he’d be damned if he made that even slightly apparent. “Since when have.... specifics... done you any good, Lotus? No,” he sighed, “Best to grin and bear with me for the time being. Oh-- no, wait-- you wouldn’t... grin. In fact, I’m not sure you even-- heh-- emote.”

– Never was a day as dull as when the Tenno were away on Earth, at night. Many of them off to hunt the Sentients that posed the greatest threat to them all, and possibly revenge for the loss of their Mother. Teshin was resting upon his snowy stone tower when the message came across. An unknown sender was not rare, but having it be none other than Alad V was something new.
– Given he does not exactly enjoy conversing with the Corpus, much less someone like Alad, he chooses not to respond at all and passes it off to one of his idle Cephalons. Unfortunately for Alad V, it ends up being sent to Vull.
– [[:: Hello there! Master Teshin does not want to talk to you, but I hope you continue to bother him! If you make him angry he will come chop you up into little pieces, and while I will not see it, I will take joy in knowing it happened! /]]
"Oh, how I bet you would...!” He always underestimated the ability of these people to collect such broken, unwanted, ugly things.... But he didn’t come here to speak to some faulty machine-mind, he came to speak to the old soldier. He’d have to humor if he wanted to get through, as much as he disdained wasting his valuable time. “And-- imagine just how wonderful it would be.... If Master Teshin-- heh-- cut me straight in half first! Oh, and all of my blood would go ribboning across the air, red and gushing!” Yes, that was good. He knew how these things operated-- occasionally the Corpus would use them for their ships and networks. They were useful, but singular-minded-- though, he couldn’t fault them for that, at least. Sometimes he’d find he was the same way. “Oh, and I’m sure it would get even MORE gory if you patched me through to him, yes. Imagine the carnage, the bloodshed!”

Everything about this little message humored Alad.
"A Worthwhile Investment,” he whispered to himself.
Well, they knew how to at least try to advertise themselves to a Corpus. It even amused him-- and he was, admittedly, interested in this little proposal. Someone to throw credits at, to do his dirty work for him? Fine by him. He’d entertain that notion any day.
“Crimson petal,” he murmured to the shopkeep as soon as they approached the counter.
No more wasting time. This was business, after all... and time is credit.
He’d see how worthwhile this... investment... really was.

That caused a halt in her steady stream of concentration, like a mosquito disturbs a peaceful sleep.
“…”
No. She would not humor him. With a flick of her wrist the call ceased, and she returned to her careful work.
“...” No answer. Of course not. He clicked his tongue. “Don’t you forget, Lotus, you--” He switched the communicator’s channels, trying his best to get his voice to come through-- if nothing else, he had to at least make a point to remind her-- “--You owe me!”
