Quick addendum on me deciding on them breathing through their skin instead of via gills also, since there’s like. One animal that has both lungs and gills at the same time I wanted to pick something maybe slightly more realistic, (THOUGH IM NOT AN EXPERT THIS IS FOR FUN), originally I was going to make them just hold their breath for a really long time like whales or seals but the existence of the underwater palace with the implication that dragons live their longterm made that seem unrealistic. Instead I went for the way frogs seem to go about this issue by having oxygen and water diffuse through their skin into the bloodstream, this does make them incredibly susceptible to being ill from poor water quality so logistically seawings would probably be an indicator species. The iguana salt spray in addition to this also seemed reasonable to remove the excess salt though I’m not sure even that would be enough? Okay that’s all I think

i would like ivypool more if people talked about her in a more girlfailure way than girlboss way okay? shes can be a very interesting character when you acknowledge she fucks up a lot

hollyleaf has the same problem although not as bad as it used to be . "girlboss kills guy who had it coming lol" is very honestly less appealing than "woman who fucking lost her mind because her worldview was broken and it made her make a choice that went against everything she'd believed and she couldn't live with herself so she faked her death and ran away from everything"

All the people saying Mulberry is secretly a psychotic evil character are rubbing me the wrong way. He’s a victim of really, really clear-cut abuse by his parents, whose fascistic rule definitely spreads over to him. They use him as a tool with the consequences of breaking from them and their wishes being DRUGGED AND CHAINED. In addition to that, he’s been the island’s only source of hope for YEARS, adding astonishing pressure to him.

He doesn’t want ANY of that. At all. He apologizes to Umber and it shows that he definitely cares for him. He wants change in the dungeon isles. He throws himself in the way of his parents torturing small dragonets (we don’t see the consequences for that, but I can’t imagine they were good).

Is it possible he could be a twist villain? Absolutely. Being a victim of abuse doesn’t excuse someone from doing bad things (look at Darkstalker). I just think the fact that people are dogpiling on him is a little off-putting.
