...a kiss for luck & we’re on our way

When we officially opened the red door to our shop on June 6, 2014, we knew we wouldn't just be opening our lives to a whole new world, but we'd be opening the Town of Cary to a whole new world, too! We knew there'd be just as many who would completely click with our somewhat backwards, unorthodox approach to rehoming cool old things, as there would be who wouldn't. Much to our humble delight, our lil shop took off!
Just at about nine months into our sweet adventure, the Town of Cary came a knockin'...to investigate a complaint about our Christmas decorations, yes, at the end of March. Long story short, we stood our ground, met with numerous folks representing the Town all the way up until this past Christmas, when, well, you'll just have to read on...
So, right before jolly ole St. Nick was due for a visit, we received an email from our landlords. The email gave us notice that as of February 5, 2016 they will be unable to rent to us, as their insurance company will not renew the policy for this property because there are items outside. The email continued stating the landlords tried to get insurance from other companies, but they all said the same thing: they won't insure buildings with items outside (worry not, we questioned it, too!).
Now, to make another long story short, while the holidays and most of January were overshadowed by the "what are we gonna do" frenzied mindset that naturally comes with such news, we went from Plan A to Plan X in record time. We prayed. We hoped. And, just as expected, days came and went and they had no new insurance, and we had no new location and dwindling options.
After the great January 2016 Blizzard (teehee), our options became option...and we begrudgingly started the arduous task of packing up our shop. We prayed. We hoped. And as luck would have it, our landlords found new insurance - 10 days into our packing and at a much higher premium that they were happily passing on to us.
As pleased as we are that our landlords of two years secured insurance for their building, we honesty couldn't celebrate as we are still packing, still praying, still hoping to find a new home for Seekers. Looks like being hit on our motorcycle by a captain of the Cary PD, our ongoing tangles with the Town of Cary, and now an unexpected, ridiculous increase in rent is the perfect storm directing Seekers to new adventures!
So, here we are. With some of the dust settling after a ginormous emotional roller coaster packing, moving, searching, dreaming, and reminiscing, we have found ourselves living in a state of eternal gratefulness! We have truly met some unbelievably amazing folks in our short time at our shop. We are infinitely thankful to each and every person who courageously walked through our red door, liked us on all those crazy social media sites, and truly believes in us! We know our success is credited to each and every one of you! And we sincerely hope we brought about a wee bit o’joy to all of your lives, even if it was just for a second remembering the smell at Grandma's house (yes, someone actually said our shop smelled like Grandma's house! We loved it!).
Rest assured, Seekers Nation, this is far from ‘good bye!’....you see, before the risin' sun, we fly...So many roads to choose...We'll start out walkin' and learn to run...And yes, we've just begun! We’ve only just begun!
