ds9 plot concept of the night: something wacky happens and everyone on ds9 temporarily gains a child version of themselves ( which is a projection of their psyche ) that follows them around & gives them a chance to heal a lil bit from their childhood trauma. thank u

okay i've been hardcore studying bc i take the mcat next week ( yikes! ) but i've also got some new ideas for my muses & especially iris who might get a complete remake tbh so uhhhh yeah that's coming soon

hope gives her cellmate a brief once over & finds herself satisfied with the validity of his explanation for now - certainly looks the type , anyway . she sits perched upon the very edge of the bench where they both sit , her left leg bouncing restlessly . the baker has never been a fan of sitting still for too long . ❝ oh , y'know - wrong place wrong time kinda thing . . . ❞ the real reason would take too long to explain & , honestly - it was none of his business . ❝ bar fight does sound interesting , actually - did they have it coming ? ❞ it's meant to be a joke , well - partially . she's also just curious .

wrong place, wrong time. he can certainly understand that. but the vagueness of her answer has piqued his curiosity. he wants to know more — but it seems she doesn't want to tell him. or at least, not yet. he lets it slide for now, but he'll be keeping it in the back of his mind.

for now, he shrugs & casts his gaze along the edges of the cell. " depends on how you look at it. " knowing what he knew, yeah, they deserved it. but there were certainly other points of view on the matter. he wasn't sure where she'd stand.

you are carrying so many feelings inside of yourself that never see the light of day, huh? the adventuring party you keep running into jokes and messes around with you, but they have no idea who you really are and they haven't even bothered trying to figure it out either. there's a reason secret is in the title, and it's because there are a lot of people out there who have been underestimating or overlooking you. the important things about you anyways. the ones you wish people would understand, but it seems like they just consistently disappoint. and while you are the last person they would want to do that to, how would they even know until it was too late? you keep things so tightly under wraps after all. you're the type of person who can blend in and move around behind the scenes unnoticed, but that doesn't mean you aren't working hard. in fact, you're probably working harder than most of the people being lauded super publicly for all of their accomplishments. you're just not loud about it. one day, when you either snap or when your carefully set plans fall into place and you're able to reveal how you really feel... well everyone is in for one hell of a ride.

          it does sound like a line , but his words puncture the awkward bubble of silence which had encapsulated the shared cell - & for that , it earns a small laugh from the seemingly misplaced baker . ❝ if i said this is all a 𝐇𝐔𝐆𝐄 misunderstanding , would you believe me ? ❞ soft features scrunch up briefly in sheepishness , trying to keep things 𝒍𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 despite their current circumstances . ❝ . . . how about you , then ? ❞

a misunderstanding, she says. yeah, he'd buy it. he already does. so he gives a small shrug & nods her way. " sure, seems about right. " then he straightens his posture, mostly to relieve the tension in his back, & he leans back against the wall. " bar fight, " he says simply. " nothin' interesting. " he pauses a moment as he studies her expression. " what kind of misunderstanding? "

" what's a gal like you doin' in a place like this? " it sounds like a line, but he only becomes aware of it the moment after the words have left his mouth. he doesn't mean it that way, he's genuinely curious. based on the look of her, she doesn't belong here in the brig.
