Since it’s Ruby, she would definitely manage to be eaten alive somehow.

She takes a deep breath in the hopes that she’ll regain a bit of confidence, so her voice comes out a bit strongly at first. “Ruby thinks she could… sneak in and out with someone…? Maybe if Ruby– Ruby messes up they could be you and Ruby’s…”

Goodness, it’s an assassination academy and she feels bad for making someone into a scapegoat.

She’s not willing to meet Yuko’s eyes even though she has a feeling she’d be on board with it.

“A… Anyways, what about the sharks…?”

“If worse comes to worse, I suppose it might be an option. But unless the sharks are in a frenzy or something I think we can manage.“ She picked up rather quickly on what Ruby was getting at. She may have some reservations herself about the idea, but she’ll have to think differently at a school for assassination.

“I do know a bit about animals, the main thing being they’ll leave you alone if you leave them alone. Usually.“

Ah, good. They see eye to eye on something already. Rather than inching closer to her teammate and potentially risking invading personal space other than her own, she unfolds her crumpled paper as much as she can. It’s not hard to read at all, but she squints regardless.

Now, if she remembers correctly…

“The… The maneki-neko… It’s on everyone’s lists, right…? Ruby thinks the pearl is too… So maybe there are plenty…?”

She doesn’t say more than that – if the two are at the end, they might be the hardest to get, maybe this was a bad idea…

“Do… Do you have any better ideas?” she adds at the end, hoping to soften the blow. Maybe Seiun-san can interpret this better.

Her eyes are closed in thought, considering everything one final time before making a decision. “The multiple items are likely something they expect everyone to get. There’s two ideas I have for the maneki-neko; We can sneak in the same time someone else is or try and get a card ourselves. And if I’m right, the pearls are likely the easiest part. Wear the right colors and the sharks shouldn’t bother you.“

That still leaves three items to cover. A diamond, a coffee cup, and a tail ring, two of which sound challenging. “If we can at least get those, we can start worrying the other items later.”

She jumps at first, surprised by the question, until it clicks. Good, her plan might have worked after all…

“Y-Yes…! Ruby is Ruby…!”

Nice first impression there.

“Nice to meet you too… Seiun-san! Ruby hopes that you and her can work together…” she gives her her warmest smile, also bowing slightly. She pretty much hears her heart beating, she’s not quite there yet, but maybe Ruby is going to make a friend here.

“In any case, what do you think we should be going after, in regards to this list? Everything seems like it’ll be a challenge.“ She pulled out her phone, bringing the list she had made back up on the screen. “We might have a better chance if we do some things together.“ Her eyes keep focusing between the items to get and Ruby’s face, wondering what she makes of all this.

Ruby doesn’t take much with her; only her phone and some materials and needles she hopes will come in handy. A paper she’d hastily scrawled out the items she needed in is crumpled in her hand, though in the worst case scenario she could probably read the cryptic message she’d recieved quickly enough. She tentatively peeks from behind the tree she positioned herself at, hoping that her partner would pass by…

…not that she knows who they are.

“Yuko Seiun, Yuko Seiun…” she mumbles under her breath, twiddling her thumbs. Ah, she’s already worried about this. (For good reason…?)

It likely would have helped if they had met prior to this, since Yuko’s simply going around and asking if anyone she comes across is this Ruby. Save for her roommates of course, no need to ask them.

Sooner or later, she eventually passes by the place she’s hiding, giving her a confused look once she realizes she’s there. “Ah- You wouldn’t happen to be Ruby Kurosawa, would you? Seems we’re going to team up for this.” Yuko gives a slight bow in greeting. “Nice to meet you.”

Finally, she’s deciphered through the list she had got, typing out the five things assigned to her and Ruby to a notepad on her phone. Looking again at where they’re supposed to find these things has her worried, though it makes sense the more she thinks on it. She starts muttering to herself, saying things along the lines of ‘This is training, considering what kind of school this is. And of course the weak have no place here’.

Saving the notepad before pocketing her phone, her first order of business is to find this Ruby she’s been partnered with. “..Ruby Kurosawa...”

Oh, whoops. Mistakes are bound to happen when you’re staring down at a map.

“Whoa, sorry. Are you okay?”

That snapped her back to reality real fast. Stumbling back a little, she regains her footing, and a calmer expression as well. “Ah- yeah. Guess we both were occupied.” Regaining her composure, she’ll continue a bit. “Uhm, I’m Yuko Seiun, a new student here. And you are?”

Pacing the hallway, Yuko’s primarily focused on the book she’s reading. She’s done well in looking up just to avoid others, but it can only go for so long before bumping into someone.

“...I overslept.“

“Oh, um, in a way. Claude and I have lived here for years so there’s only the one empty room. They’re all the same size, though, if that makes you feel better.”

“It’s alright.“ She gave a slight bow, before stepping in and heading toward the spare room with all her things. She didn’t have much with her; Clothes and some odd machinery. “Is Claude elsewhere? I’ll have to introduce myself to them too at some point.“

You always knew someone else would move in. This doesn’t make it’s death any more permanent. It’s been gone for a while. Now, quick, before they come in to see, you know what to do.

“Are you the new roommate? Oh, my name is Ana Sofia. Call me Ana, please. I’ll be glad to be working with you this year!”

Best to introduce yourself to your roommates, she thought. It took a bit of time to actually find which one was hers, but she gave a smile as she was greeted at the door. “It’s nice to meet you, Ana. My name’s Yuko Seiun.”

“I don’t suppose you’ve already made yourself at home? I wanted to be able to choose what room I got.“
