In celebration of the mighty bara.
Rhododendron season is the best time to trek the mountains towards Everest base camp.
The hearth, the laughter, the family and refuge.
Trekking is a lot like life. As you walk through the mist, your heart pounds because you’ve been climbing up a hill with the knowledge that your goal is over these hills; but you’re heart is pounding, the sweat drips down your shirt and you gasp for oxygen just to stumble over a root and then trip on a rock only to sit gasping on a step willing your body on. These hills make us stronger to go over passes and climb further the next time. May this year make you stronger.
Few days in #Pokhara and have a desire for trekking. The #Pokharalakeside is a relaxing day and the trek up to the hills above it can set you off on a 6 day trek or just a two day trek. As you arrive in Dhampus the mountains call to you for an adventure.
What’s north of Kathmandu? If you look closely the trail winds up the mountain over the ridge and down to Kathmandu. Looking back on day 2 of the Helambu/Gosaikunda trek above the village of Chipling.
Religion is intertwined in daily life in South Asia in the same way the electric cables are ever present.
Tongba, from our research this hot beer was brought from East Tibet into Nepal probably in the 15th century. Tonba is the name of the wooden utensil that is used to hold the fermented millet when you pour the hot water over it. The fermented millet then turns into a lightly alcoholic drink with a refreshing nutty flavour.
Words can’t describe this city.
The Nepali new years follows the Lunar calendar and it takes place around the third week of April. Come to visit the many festivals that take place during this time.
Sesame sauce with hot buffalo meat momo’s. Add a dash of chili sauce to hit your taste buds just right.
At the heart of all logistics the tinkle of bells as you step to the side and let these beautiful beasts go by carrying your supplies. #Trekking #Nepal
@selbmaradventures takes you on a musical adventure.
Sometimes the best breaks are those little tea shops with hot ‘Sel Roti’ and cup of sweet tea by the side of the trail with your backpack set to the side.
‘Mane stones’ in Solukhumbu region. They look like graffiti but with a holy purpose.
A happy ‘Shivaratri’, from SelbmarAdventures, the day the great god saved the world from annihilation. This massive statue is located in ‘Haridwar’ on the banks of the divine ‘Ganga’.
