idk how else to put this, but the act of booyahing back in battle is like, an unspoken signal in the splatoon community that you’re willing to cooperate with your team and work together. like if you’re on a team where EVERYONE booyahs back when one person does it you’re probably gonna be able to get stuff done. if no one booyahs back then it’s probably not gonna go as well and it’s just gonna be awkward. you gotta booyah back that’s just how it works

thinking about how fucked up hyrule’s medieval stasis is

because there are so many ‘advanced ancient civilisations’ in this setting, but at the same time the whole thing is an extended saga of a dozen different time periods and a bunch of them have their own advanced ancient civilisations, and so it’s just these layers and layers of progress and collapse and advancement and regression, like the geological records of extinction events, over and over and over

it’s not even really medieval stasis so much as medieval sisyphus. they roll the technological ball up the hill, and divine magic bullshit just kicks them straight down the slopes again. they build cities and labyrinths and temples, and build with magic and steam and electricity…

and thousands of years later, they’re still in the same castles, with the same swords and the same uncomprehending wonder at the works of their ancestors, because every time society seems to be making even a decent amount of progress, someone shows up and blasts the continent back into the fucking iron age over shiny magic triangles
