MILO.
“No, she’s worshiping the ground I walk on. Of course she’s mad at me. I can’t exactly throw down with her like you did. Right now, I’m just waiting for her to apologize. Which she will eventually. Maybe.” He shook his head and ran a hand through his hair. “Or not. Mierda, you’re probably just wondering what the fuck I’m yammering on about.”
“Hold up, no matter how mad she is at you for whatever reason,” all the while knowing the exact reason why, “She will always worship the ground you stand on. Even I’m jealous of how much she adores you. Anyway, Regina only apologises to the people she truly cares about. She’ll come around. I mean, if she could apologise to me after all the things I said to her and after we literally pulled the hair out of our heads during our bitch fight in the Hamptons, she’ll forgive you in no time.”
RILEY.
“Seriously? Solo? Who are you and what have you done with Selene Dubois?” Riley grinned a little more, refilling her drink then refilling his own as well. There was nothing better than getting drunk in his apartment, “You can blame dear old dad, y’know. Kyle dragged me into a meeting with him. Because, y’know, ten years of him kicking our asses just isn’t enough.”
“I guess my girl down there’s closing up for business, going solo. Things have been slow lately, put it that way,” and with that, another swig after thanking him for the refill. Lord knew she needed it. “Wow.. and said meeting? How’d it go? Or.. is the amount we’re currently consuming tonight all I need for an answer?”
LEVI.
@selenedubcis
“Mom keeps texting me. Can you tell her to stop? I’m so tired. I’ve never been this hungover in my life.” Levi was sitting at the bar of his own brunch restaurant, the entire place empty besides him and his sister. “So…how did the party go? Nice to know Cal didn’t tell me any of this shit.”
“Levi, like she’d ever listen to me. I called her last week and she was slurring like no fucking tomorrow. It was eight thirty in the morning, mind you. Apparently mimosas are a very nutritional breakfast. Might try it some time,” she rolled her eyes, ignoring the guilt that seeped in deep down knowing she was nothing but a hypocrite. “Big night, little brother? —You didn’t miss out on a thing, put it that way. Some random girl named Mia or Mimi or something got exposed as the Saboteur. I don’t even know her. Why couldn’t it have been someone we’ve at least met?!”
MAVERICK.
“Well…you know, there’s one good thing about being a guy – I can’t get accidentally knocked up like you can. So make sure you use protection.” Maverick grinned a little, putting his arm around Selene, “Of course. Milo would definitely get stuck with the babies. He’d probably enjoy it. Also, we haven’t even talked about marriage or anything. I don’t think we’ll have kids….for a long time, if not ever. But I fully expect to be your kid’s fairy gaymother. And are you hiding something from me?”
“—Listen, you know my rants about everything you get away with that I have to endure. Boys suck.” In a bid to escape the talk about protection, about being careful. About not falling pregnant and giving birth to a child she wasn’t ready for. Which is exactly what she did only a few years ago. “Who says you have to get married?” God, she’d done that too. “I say live your best life and screw any societal order. As long as you and Milo are happy.. which, you totally are. And if that ever happens, you know you’re my first choice.” Swiftly grabbing two glasses of champagne from a passerby waiter, she hands one to him and takes a sip, shaking her head. “No.”

If it wasn’t alcohol, then coffee was surely a remedy for hangovers and the like. Selene always managed to dabble in things that eventually backfired, going out and drinking herself senseless being one of them. As she sat on a table, outside one of New York’s best cafes, she glanced over at her friend after taking a sip, ready to hear all about her night. “So, did you manage to escape the gala unscathed as we so hoped for?”
OLIVIA.
“Maybe she’s just looking for attention.” Gathering everyone together like this, so publicly. As as the anonymous message she received - she assumed the two were connected, naturally. But she didn’t believe it would amount to much. “Yeah. And I guess we’re stuck waiting until it does.” Why was she somewhat nervous? When she’d arrived at the venue, she was calm. Collected as she usually was, put together in the shape of making polite conversation with a number of strangers and hopefully, leaving them with a good impression of her. And now her skin felt as though it was starting to crawl; as though when the curtain fell at the end of the night she would watch it until it hit the ground. It intrigued her, yes, and she had been paid a fairly handsome sum for a menial task but there was no reason for this nagging paranoia in her mind. “So - onto lighter topics.” Another smile, moving away from the looming act of the evening. “What do you do for a living?” Never about herself, true to form.
Some time later..
“Well, that was the biggest waste of time, the whole Saboteur thing. I mean, who even is Maya?! Such an anticlimactic ending, to be honest. But it does make me question how she managed to get so much information on me..” There Selene sat, at a bar on the Upper West Side amidst someone she’d met briefly at the Winter Gala several nights prior, whiskey in hand. “Me?” To not be recognised was simultaneously offensive and yet, nonetheless, the perfect escape. Olivia wouldn’t judge her for her reputation, for who the media saw her as, for another dumb Hollywood actress. “Oh, I.. dabble in acting here and there. How about you?”
ASHTON.
“She can definitely be a vengeful bitch,” Ashton agreed, attempting to keep her volume down. Making a deal with the devil added an extra measure of paranoia, one that the brunette had been trying to push out of her mind all night. “Everyone has secrets, Selene. Even the people who pretend that they don’t.” It was impossible, at least in Ashton’s opinion, to move through life without one or two secrets under their belt. Granted, most people’s secrets weren’t as life altering at the ones Ashton was currently sitting on, but that didn’t change facts. “Here’s hoping to making it out of this wonderland shit show unscathed.” It felt like a lie to even offer up a statement like that, especially when Ashton knew what was coming.
“You have to admit, she’s intelligent as hell. I’ll give her that much.” Everyone has secrets, even the ones who pretend they don’t.. couldn’t’ve said it better herself, in all honesty. As she raised her glass to clink with Ashton’s, an amused smile appeared on her features. If they were going to get through this thing, they’d definitely need a shit tonne of alcohol. That drink would surely mark the beginning of an eventful evening, that was for sure. “Here’s hoping, but always being prepared. To you, my love.”
MAVERICK.
“Uh-huh….and what did you tell me whenever I said I wanted to get back with my ex?” Maverick pressed, giving Selene another look. As the song ended, he moved to hold her hand, intertwining their fingers and pulling her off of the dancefloor. “New York’s hottest couple? Literally, no one knew my name until you posted me on your Instagram. I’m not some famous person – I get attention for dating Milo and being your friend.” He hated pictures, and he hated media attention. He preferred Milo’s attention – everything else gave him anxiety. “Have babies? Oh god. That’s not happening.” He put his arm around her shoulders, frowning, “Wait, why? Did you guys fight?”
“I’m sure it’s whatever you’re about to tell me? You don’t even have to say it, to be honest. I can see it in your eyes.” That look of disapproval, derived mostly from the fact that Maverick cared about her like she was family, and vice versa. “Well, you’re now known as New York’s hottest bartender thanks to my post, so,” the brunette grins, nudging his side with her own before leaning her head against his shoulder momentarily. “You’re starting to sound too much like me, Mav, it’s scary. Not happening for me either. —But if we ever end up with children one day, let’s hope the baby daddies can take care of the kids whilst you and I sneak off for drinks. Deal, my love?” Leaning into his chest, Selene wraps an arm around his middle, scanning the crowd simultaneously for a familiar blond. “Well, you’re gonna have to get a hell of a lot more drinks in me to get a proper answer, put it that way.”
MILO.

“On a scale of one to ten, how easy was it for you to recover from all the shit with S and fix your relationship with Regina? I mean, I did nothing wrong, but still. I figure I ask because I still love that bitch even if she’s annoying me right now.”
Post gala, Selene just found herself ever confused with the whole Saboteur ordeal. The only way to cope in her eyes was to consume copious amounts of alcohol. “Well, I don’t know a Maya so I’m pretty sure we’re at a 1, because bitch knows I’d probably still spill things. She’s mad at you, huh?”
ALEXANDER.
Alex chuckled and looked down at his glass, a flicker of shyness that only she was capable of instilling in him. She had a power over him rivaled by no other and he hated it. Here he was years after their supposed break up and he still hung on her every word. It was a little pathetic but right now he was too excited by the moment to give a crap. He finished his drink and then with a coy look in his eyes held out his arm and guided her to the nearest exit. The fresh air hit him in the face and he felt relieved as the way she was playing with him was torturous. The doors swung shut behind them drowning out the loud music and chatter of the crowd, leaving just them and the distant mumbles of the few smokers in the mix who had come outside to get their fix.
When they found a quiet spot away from the crowds with a bench to rest their legs Alex paused for a moment to take her in. The cloud-free sky shone with the brightness of the moon which seemed to bring to light her beauty, even more, causing Alex to stare but in doing so the older male noted something. A hint of something in those big eyes he adored, his brows knitting together with worry. “Here,” Alex muttered before he pulled his tux jacket off and draped it over his shoulders. “Superman would be nothing without a Lois Lane by his side – so can’t let you go and freeze to death, can I?” A smile spread over his lips as he pulled the coat tight around her middle before meeting her eyes once more with a wink. She was one of the best actresses in the world but try as she may she would never fool him.
“Now where were we?” He asked with a wiggle of his brows, leaning back against the bench with his arm casually draped around her and crossing his legs as if pondering. “I think we were in the midst of a serious debate about Brexit, right?” He turned to her deadpan serious before laughing. “Nah, you just wanted to know what freaky shit I had in mind for us,” he then added with a laugh. “Dragging an innocent guy like me outside to have your wicked way with…disgraceful.”
No matter how much she tried, Selene always found herself repeating her mistakes and succumbing to temptation. Perhaps she was weak, in that sense, or utterly determined to satisfy herself in the present, but.. it was a pattern. A habit, if you must. She very well knew she should stay away from her ex, at least in this way where both were toying with one another, tempting fate. She could feel every tingle upon her skin each time his eyes took her in, every trail of his gaze, every spark it lit up beneath her skin. And the guilt remained at bay, but still present, as she took him in also, daring and confident beneath the facades of a mask. The brunette was okay with him believing she didn’t know it was him; in fact, she preferred it. Him knowing brought about a lot of complications, when all she wanted to do right now was dip her toes without falling in completely. She’d been burned before, she wasn’t about to tempt fate that much again.
There were several people about, but none she felt she should worry over. Nobody knew her identity. At least, she figured as much. “If it weren’t for you I might’ve.. considering I left my coat inside.” As she finds herself in his arms, can feel something like adrenaline coursing through her veins, seeing him this up close not so foreign now. The way he used his coat to pull her close. The way he looked at her. Did he know? “Has anyone ever told you you’re quite the gentleman?” Selene dared not ask for his name, the air of anonymity all too important. And he didn’t seem to ask for hers, either. Perhaps they could get through this without a hitch. “I’d rather keep our affairs a little less political, if you ask me.” She scoffs, amusement lighting up the entirety of her features, her tone of voice tainted with sarcasm. “Me? Wicked? Please, how could you ever assume that of me. —But, pray tell, what did you have in mind?” Still, there was hesitation she felt, knowing she needed to keep some length between them, leaning back some as she toyed, instead, from a slight distance.
RILEY.
@selenedubcis
“I never thought I’d be this disappointed to have missed that party the other night.” Riley downed his shot, putting a finger up to show he wasn’t done just yet, “I wanna hear all about it. And I wanna know who took you home so I can beat them up. It’s not my fault I wasn’t there to pick you up – family sucks sometimes.”
“Trust me, you didn’t miss a thing. —No one to be jealous of, my dear,” she replies with arched brows, downing her drink without a second’s hesitation before peering over at Riley. “I ended up escaping the gala solo, only to party the rest of the night away on someone’s table at Marquee which, admittedly, was nowhere near as exciting as if you were there. —So, which family member do I need to beat up?”
ELLIOT.
“If things are moving along with the paper process faster, then…I’d like to know.” Elliot hovered a hand up for a moment before his expression shifted into one of irked disbelief. “Selene that’s not…you know that’s not what I meant. Have I ever cared or asked about any of that? Your ‘reputation’, your spotlight? All I did care about was that I liked getting to know you for you!” He shook his head, once again running a hand down his features. Although as she continued, Elliot specifically began glancing back upward. You and me. It had him stepping closer once more, reaching forward with a hand to place itself on her cheek, thumb drying the forming welling in her deep gaze. “Ok, you’re right. Those papers have made us apparently disagree right now. But you know what? When you think about it, they are still also the reason why we even had the chance to meet again in the first place.” Elliot attempted to warrant further. “And, I am glad they did….”
Selene couldn’t tell whether the tears prickling behind her eyes were due to the influx of emotions she was suddenly feeling, heightened by alcohol consumed, or because she was frustrated at their entire ordeal and how.. it had gone from simple, and easy, to complex and difficult. Her gaze flickers across his features, frozen in place for once as she finds herself unsure of how to express herself. Her fingertips tingled with the desire of holding the hand that clasped her cheek, her heart readily beating in the frames of her chest and her insides doing much of the same. How did he have this overwhelming effect on her? When did they become so complicated? Though she wished to respond to him, with a million and one different things she wanted to say, the sudden gasps that echoed from the room they were just outside of distracted her, turning to find the lights had briefly turned off. Fingertips clasped his jacket, a tremor of fear coursing through her. “Oh god, it’s happening.. it’s really happening.”
