somehow closeups of hair just always look gross!

anyway i’ve been volunteering at a local charity thrift store, and they let me take home a couple halloween wigs to rehabilitate when i told them i liked to fix doll hair and had some experience. they’re by no means professional or even good but they’re a damn sight better than they were!

this one specifically was gnarled up into a collection of mats at the ends and took some generous applications of elbow grease to fix - even straightened it a bit on low temperature because of all the split ends. it’ll never be gorgeous, but it’s at least wearable - and thus more likely to be bought! and that’s what counts at a charity store xD

apologies for my closet - i just love before and after pics, it’s so satisfying to see something and be able to say yeah - i fixed that!

this is kind of a long shot cos i don’t get any traffic but anyone know where this dress is from? I’m pretty sure the doll is a Jackie Evancho, she sings When You Wish Upon A Star and is something like 13” tall and uh. Is frightening. But I don’t think this is her dress. It fits her well but I can’t find any pics of her in it or it in general. It’s gorgeous and has a tag that says “Barbie Collectibles”. It’s ludicrously high quality for what I’m used to thrifting xD

found this behemoth at value village yesterday!! I have no place to keep it long term so it’s getting spiffed up and sold or traded or whatever, but it would have been a big-ticket present in the 90s when i was a kid, and i couldn’t resist picking it up to get hands-on :D all the drink cups and accessories are long gone, of course, but it’s got most of its extremities and it’s in decent shape minus the stickers! i love it, i’m super happy

@furbytech asked me for a wrinkly furby. how wrinkly, i ask. like one of those wrinkle dogs, she replies. heck yeah without further ado here’s chunko!! i drew this like a month ago at least when that very wrinkly furby pic was going around but i just colored it today

found some ladies today! looks like Deluxe Reading’s Suzy Cute, Ideal’s Pepper, and a Bikin Snow White. Half the fun of finding these is honestly looking them up and learning some toy history. Suzy has an arm mechanism where when you squeeze her chest, her arms are supposed to slow-release into a horizontal “reaching forward” position, and it still works but it’s a little frightening because the arms just POP up. She’s a little cursed i’m not gonna lie, she’s getting out of this house asap. I am looking forward to giving their hair a new lease on life and sprucing up their wrinkly clothes a bit though! Pepper is super cute, love the freckles

i keep ending up with transformers figures with missing parts because i am. VERY OPTIMISTIC about the amount of boy that’s likely to be in the thrift store bag and then...no his head...my boy... blue halo man was in the bag too, he has pretty fun articulation and nice weathering details

buncha glue heads i finally cleaned out to make room on my to-do shelf!! spectra’s the only one whose head i’m likely to use, but i have a big pile of hair to clean off for reroots someday

i’m so happy i got a spectra! she has big glue stains on her head but i’ve loves her design since i first saw her :3
