Does the heart truly heal?
Or
Does it just get used to the amount of pain it has to carry?
“You don’t know what you have until you lose it”
This line has lingered over me. I know I’ll survive, I know the days will continue, and life goes on. But the world will feel like it’ll crumble down. I will feel lost and empty until I’m healed again. There is always an “up” again. But until then, I will have to feel the hurt. I will have to endure the sadness. I deserve it. I have hurt you. You don’t even know it yet, but I have. Yet, your hate for me is not as big as the hate for myself. I hate that I’ve done this. That I ruined something precious and pure. You don’t even know it yet, but, you hate me.
And I hate myself for hurting you.
“Please don’t expect me to always be good and kind and loving. There are times when I will be cold and thoughtless and hard to understand.”
— Sylvia Plath
I used to think I could never hurt anyone the way I was hurt.
I cried. I forgave. I ached.
The pain I felt was deep.
I swore that I could and would never let someone feel that way because of me.
I am human.
I’ve fallen into the vicious cycle of which I swore I’d break from.
I am human.
I’ve made errors.
I’ve made life errors.
Regrettable. Shameful. Disgusting errors.
I won’t be able to take it back, but I swear I will live and breathe trying to make it okay again. The last thing I want is to make all the good disappear. I repent.
