who has two thumbs and finally finished putting this bio together
DJ was the happiest she'd been in her life. Things had been going well between her and Cris for quite some time now. Through the turbulence of work ups and downs, and the occasional pestering from her decrepit, ass-backwards father, she'd had a lot to be grateful for when it came to her healthy and steadfast relationship with her girlfriend. She loved the friends she'd had, and she enjoyed her work for the most part, but time spent with Cris was priceless.
Her and Cris moving in together was more exciting than DJ expected. She was practically bouncing as she went from room to room, starting on a box and then getting distracted and opening another box to delve into. But she'd taken a break to call the electric company to have the bill from her old apartment transferred to hers and Cris's new place. While wrapping up the call, she padded out of hers and Cris's bedroom and thanked the representative on the other line before hanging up. "Uh-oh. Okay, which one was it?" she asked, approaching the crumpled paper and the discarded glass. "Do you want some help in here?"
Cris pointed to the bag to make sure DJ saw it. “It was just a juice glass. I probably got it from IKEA a million years ago, but still be careful.” She grinned at the offer of help and nodded. “I won’t say no. And if something is in a place you don’t like it, we can rearrange. That’s the perk of a new place, right? You can break the old habits and start fresh. Like with cabinets and linen closets,” she said. While she was packing for the move, Cris got rid of a lot of old stuff she just didn’t use anymore. There was no use in keeping it. Moving had the tendency of making one get rid of shit, especially when it meant combining stuff with another person. “How is the other unpacking coming along? It sounded like you were busy all over the house,” she chuckled.

Deciding to move in together was a no-brainer. Cris and DJ spent most nights together when she was home - whether it was at her place or DJ's. When she finally suggested they didn't need two places, her girlfriend agreed. They found a perfect place that offered a rent-to-buy agreement. Cris was genuinely excited to be a homeowner one day. It also solidified the idea that she and DJ were in this for the long haul. Not that she doubted it. Once they decided to be official, things fell into place more. And she did everything she could to help their relationship grow.
Now, here she was with her hair in a messy bun, wearing old workout clothes she didn't care about as she carefully unpacked delicate glasses and ceramic plates to put into cabinets in the kitchen. "Oh, dammit... I thought I was so careful when I was putting these in," she said, as she took the newspaper completely off a small juice glass. One perfect chunk had broken off at some point in the move. "Um..." she said and looked around for a paper bag from the grocery store. "Deej, babe, I'm putting any broken glass in this paper bag. So be careful around it."
Cris: I desperately want a little trip with you. I think we've both earned it.
[post-family meeting]
Cris: If you panicked at all during the party, I didn't see it on your face. Everyone really liked you. My brother said I finally picked a "good" one. And my mom and dad both really like you. They say anytime I'm invited to something, you're my unspoken plus one.
DJ: 100%. Mountains or beach? Or jetting off to both?
DJ: I've gotten better about my poker face haha. I was nervous at first but your family is wonderful. Thank you, babe it was nice to meet them all and the next time you have the chance to spend some time with them, I'd be happy to come with you.
Cris: You know I don’t care as long as I’m with you ❤️ I just want us to have a good time.
Cris: Haha you clearly have! I’m glad you like them. I was worried about it both ways, you know? It’s a big deal for me to introduce you to each other. I don’t want them to scare you off. I also want you to like them, because in my ideal world you’re going to be around for a long, long time.
Oh, I have the hardest time letting go of clothes. I finally got rid of all my vests from the aughts. Then Gen Z decided they were cute and in again. Happens every time!
That's a real bummer that your days off don't match. I know the struggle, so I'm sure you take advantage of any free time you have together.
Oh dio the younger generation is so bizarre with fashion, trying to claim some trends as newly their own when they aren't new at all. I still don't understand Gen Z's opinion on side parts vs. middle part hairstyles.
Yes, unfortunately. I thought you might understand that well enough though. But I am working on balancing it better. My schedule is a little more flexible than Riley's in that there's times I can trust my team to run an event without me being there for most or all of it.
They really are. I mostly ignore it. The stuff they say is cringe on millennials will come back around soon. So there’s no point in getting rid of my skinny jeans. 🤷🏻♀️
I know the struggle so well. But it’s good you have that kind of flexibility. I’m trying to get more flexible with mine and take more calls and meetings virtually.
It's wonderful, isn't it? Do you have a hard time letting go of garments or are you fairly routine with changing out clothes from your wardrobe? Most of the time, my days off don't match his, for exactly the reason that you said. Most of the time, people choose weekend dates for fundraisers, weddings, awards ceremonies and other celebrations. Those are commonly my busiest days, which are commonly his days off.

DJ: You're speaking my language, babe. Just us 2 on a trip and being fancy sometimes? All of that sounds like heaven on earth.
DJ: That's really polite but there's really no preference? Thank you for that and for helping put my mind at ease about meeting your family. I mean I'm still gonna be nervous going to meet them but I don't feel like I'm going to act like a total idiot in front of them. Maybe a fraction of an idiot but not a total one. 😂

Grazie! I do love the fun of fashion and looking good as often as possible. That saying of "When you look good, you feel good" is something I really love. Haha I bet she'll love that. I do that when my days off don't align with Riley's.
That's very true. It's why I have so many clothes shoved into my closet. I try to mix up my power suits when I am at the capitol, but that's very different from my normal fashion. Do your days off match his most of the time? Or do they differ a lot because of events?
Why thank you, I feel honoured! Oh I know I don't but I would if you wanted the time with il tuo tesoro. But I'm sure you're right about that, especially with him officially being their papà.
It seems like you earned the title with ease! You make fashion seem so effortless! I’ll spend plenty of time with her, even if she’s working a bit. I’ll just hang around and try to only distract her a little bit 😂
Outfit for Frauggie's Wedding
DJ: You're speaking my language. I love the sound of both of those. Maybe we can go to Malibu or San Diego or something?
DJ: I'll stop by Total Wine on my way home. Red, white, rose or sparkling? And you really are a gem, babe. You don't have to do that though. Your brother would probably think it'd be weird coming from me when I haven't met him yet, right?
Cris: That sounds so nice! We'll make a romantic trip out of it. Go out for fancy dinners and everything.
Cris: They will drink whatever you bring, I promise. I know I don't have to, but I want to. He knows you're coming. Everyone's excited to meet you, babe.
DJ: I should bug them about coming to visit. Or maybe seeing if we can go to them sometime. Delilah's still in New Orleans but Tucker lives in Vegas. Please do that if you ever end up anywhere near my dad though. ❤️❤️❤️
DJ: Lol 😘 back at you, babe. But I trust you. Should I get some flowers to bring? Wine? A birthday present for your brother? Would that be too weird considering we've never met before?
Cris: I’ve got all summer for trips if you want to get out of town. We should also think about a proper vacation to just unwind!
Cris: If you want to bring flowers or wine you can! And we can put your name on my brother’s gift so it’s from us.
Cris: Believe me, I will be nervous to meet your family, too. My family will really like you, though. My dad probably most of all because he knows how driven you are.
Cris: Awww, thank you 😘 I am sweet because I love you.
DJ: My brother's the best and trust me, neither he nor his bf or their daughter will give you any reason to be nervous. My sister's nice to a fault and her husband's a good guy helping her not get taken advantage of 24/7. They're on track to have an entire soccer team in their house, I swear. And if I can help it, you'll never meet my dad.
DJ: I'm glad I'll be meeting them with you and not some random, unexpected solo thing. I think it's just that typical 'first time meeting my girlfriend's family' nervousness. I haven't done this since the horse and buggy days.
DJ: No way, you were sweet before that. But I love you too, babe! All day, every day.
Cris: They (almost) all sound wonderful. In that case, I can’t wait to meet your siblings and nieces and nephews. And if I ever have the misfortune of meeting your father, I’ll just make sure I give him the finger 🖕😊
Cris: Oh my god… horse and buggy 🤣 I fucking adore you. And I promise it will be great.
Cris: Aw, thank you. ❤️😘
this is true!
Oh I bet. Any ideas where you want to go?
Somewhere pretty! That's my most basic criteria.
He does! he used to be my teenage crush and seeing him in darker roles now is funny especially when in interviews he's so chill and nice.
Anyway, what are you up to over the summer? Any plans to go on holiday?
I guess it's called acting for a reason, right?
Just trying to relax and unwind from the busy legislative session. I definitely want to take a vacation.
You're right about that and I have not actually! That's a brilliant idea, Cris. I'll try to see if I can get him on. I'm sure the fans would love it and the trolls too. ;)
That would be so funny! He seems like a delightful person from the interviews I've seen of him. I'm sure he'd be a good sport.
We were close to that much fun, I would say! And you and DJ both looked equal parts carefree and stunning, which I love to see. If I have to, I'll bug Xavier on your behalf to opt for an easygoing Summer so she'll have a mild Summer in turn, and then you both can go where the wind takes you. Or the car or plane, train...
Thank you! Quite the compliment coming from you - one of the most fashionable people I know. Oh goodness, you don't have to do that. I'm sure he'll just naturally have a more relaxed summer because he'll want to spent time with his kids.
