I'm late but as of this past friday, I am officially done with nursing school. I get to trade these gray scrubs in for navy ones. Finally!💉💊🎓 #itpaidoff #theresalightattheendofthetunnel #bsn

Finished my 180 hours today! I want to thank Tamara, my preceptor, and everyone on P7 for their patience, kindness and encouragement. I'm ready to see what the next chapter holds. (at UAB Hospital West Pavilion)
5 more months till I get that BSN.
Love doing nursing school with ya. 💉💊🏨
So happy I had this experience with you. 💙 (at Jordan–Hare Stadium)
Squinty eyes, goggle imprints, and sunburns. We had so much fun. 😊 (at Cudjoe Key, Florida)

10 Things To Remember When You Get Your First Job As A New Nurse
1. Say “hi” to your coworkers when you arrive at the beginning of your shift. It’s not really nice to ask for help when you didn’t even say “good morning.”
2. If you didn’t document it, you didn’t do it.
3. Make friends with as many people as possible (other RNs, transporters, phlebotomists, IV therapists, patient care techs, unit clerks, meal servers, pharmacy techs, PT/OT, etc.) and try to have some fun at work. Things can get intense.
4. Don’t forget to drink water, eat, and pee!
5. Physicians aren’t always right.
6. Help others! No one should be running around while others are sitting around! Soon enough, that person running around will be you.
7. Be nice to the experienced nurses, be nice to the new nurses. Just be nice to everyone. But not too nice. Don’t be a pushover.
8. You don’t (and will never) know everything. ASK QUESTIONS.
9. It will probably take a year before you feel comfortable.
10. Be nice to your patients. Even when they drive you crazy, your day is terrible, and you’ve forgotten to follow rule #4 for the day.

My 1st time in Auburn. WDE! 💙🐯 (at Auburn University)
Perhaps you’re tired, exhausted by all the late nights of researching, studying and trying to understand the complicated world of nursing and medicine. Perhaps you’re weary of facing yet another exam, designed to test your knowledge, and last damn nerve - thus far. Maybe you’re at your end point, frustrated with all the repetition and challenges to think critically, when all you want to do is graduate and begin your career. Hold on, for in the midst of the struggles, there is a glimmer of the nurse you will be. Don’t quit, for your road ahead will be forged of strength and resilience. Don’t ever lose sight of the hope, support, and ability to intellectually advocate that you will one day bring to your patients.
