âI mean, dogs are a big responsibility, but⊠youâll never find a better friend. Iâd be sad too, Iâve always wanted a dog.â
âTheyâre just so adorable. Itâs unfair. I really want one but I just donât have the time. I mean, I could hire someone to walk him? But still, I would want to do it myself yâknow?â
Your sibling, after all, is the only other person in the world who understands how fucked up your parents made you.

âNo no, I-- Iâm fine. Just... this puppy looked really sad and I wanted to take him home but I... I couldnât. I donât have the time.â
âAll the colors. Do people decorate it one color? Oh, you do. Thatâs cute. Very girly. Save me a muffin, okay?â
âWe had different colors every year. Mother always wanted things to look perfect. A muffin? Oh -- Iâm afraid we donât serve those actually. We do have a chocolate souffle though.â

âNo, thatâs not bad at all. I love christmas time. Iâve already bought ornaments for the tree Iâm planning to buy next month. But hey, good luck on the opening. I hope it goes well.â
âReally? What color are you gonna decorate it? Iâm currently thinking of going for pink and white. Not too sure yet! Got to focus on the restaurant first. Thank you though, I really do hope so too.â

Mina: ...do you want me to come over?
âiâm always excited for christmas. i just feel like my body always physically rejects winter and iâm always sick the whole time, so i just adore snow from a distance. are you planning on spending it with family?â
âYet you live in Brighton? Must be an awful lot of days spent sick,â Minaâs brows creased lightly, her head tilted for a brief moment. âBut the snow is nice indeed, very pretty,â a light nod rocked her head. âYeah, with family. Weâre throwing this huge Christmas fund raiser with a huge buffet just a few days after but unfortunately I have to be at the restaurant during actual Christmas. What about you?â
âIâm sorry. I donât think I can give your restaurant a good review. I canât trust people who donât like Halloween. I bet you also like pumpkin spice lattes. Donât you?â
âWh-- what?âshe blinked briefly, watching him with an incredulous look. âWait -- are you really suggesting Iâm some basic white chick? Is this really happening? I have never even had one of those drinks?â
never better. / / ivy & mina.
The second Ivy was sober was the second Hell melted after freezing over. Of course, there was a problem that laid within that fact: drugs were expensive. Alone, heroin didnât cost much, but when it became a habit, it was more than Ivy normally had on hand. Ranging from $150-200 for habitual use, it was safe to say she had to use other methods. After a while, the high was no longer a high, rather a part of her personality. Those five days that she was clean in February were the bleakest possible â hell, sheâd take sleeping on a bench everyday over that. That brought her back to the present situation, brought her back to paying attention to the woman in front of her whoâd asked if sheâd move off the bench. Nice.
She could place a finger on who the other woman looked like; she looked like a soda-pop version of Sana. While she couldâve brought it up, at least said that the other looked like someone she knew, she figured it wasnât the time or place â not yet, at least. Perhaps sometime later that day, perhaps sometime in the future if she ran into the woman again, perhaps never; it all depended on the situation at hand. The twenty-second⊠what day was it? How long ago had she lost time? âSo thatâs â yeah, thatâs pretty⊠soon.â In truth, the only reason sheâd so much as responded to that remark instead of some gesture was in an attempt to get how many days and/or weeks away it was. Of course, when the other offered to show her the restaurant, Ivy was in no place to turn down the offer, figuring itâd occupy her time. âYeah, yeah, thatâd be â thatâd be awesome.â Such exuberance over a restaurant! Amazing.
Moments like these were exactly when Mina realised how her life had become completely screwed up. The lies were all a tangled mess and she found herself wishing she hadnât been such a coward, that she wasnât lying to basically everyone she ever cared about. This wasnât the life she was supposed to live, right? Ivy was her friend yet she did nothing to help her, even when Mina knew she could. She had the money, she knew she could help her friend n some ways but this was Sanaâs friend and those lines couldnât possibly blurred. Not when there was too much a stake.Â
âYeah, about a week from now,â Mina nodded in confirmation, trying to keep her focus on the other but the reminder of the otherâs current state was something that made her heart clench. She didnât wish it upon the other, but this was the truth, this was Ivyâs life and this was hers. Two different worlds. âAlright,â she nodded lightly, showing the other a smile. It was the first one of the encounter and Mina wished it hadnât come across so hesitantly. âI donât really have food in here yet, but if you want I could get you some coffee or tea?â
âi wouldnât say that itâs bad, but we do still have halloween and thanksgiving. and iâm honestly not looking forward to the snow. i think living in hawaii has ruined my tolerance of cold weather. â wow, has anyone ever told you that you sound like a disney character?â
âA Disney character? Ha! I guess I do have some similarities to some of them. Depends on which one... so many choices really. Just curious though, if youâre not looking forward to snow, why live in Brighton? Doesnât really make sense to me.â
âItâs not even Halloween yet. Donât you dare start stringing up lights and singing Merry Christmas. Hang the cobwebs and sing This is Halloween!â
âI honestly never really have been a Halloween person? Probably because Iâm easily frightened so I never been big on it. But I wonât be singing Christmas corals just yet, donât you worry! Iâm not that much of a Christmas enthusiast.â
âIs it bad that Iâm already hyped for Christmas? Maybe itâs because I hope the restaurant will be filled with tourists, but I also canât help but be excited about the snow and being able to going skiing in my spare time. Itâs always so awfully nice!â
