“So, you’re saying that if we got approval to go public in six months, you’d start thinking about a wedding?” Love wasn’t something she was too sure about; the way it was portrayed in movies was nothing like the way her parents expressed it, but, then again, she wouldn’t be surprised if they didn’t love each other that much. Maybe this was what love actually was. She had no idea. “I can’t be,” she murmured back. After a lifetime of being told how unique and special she was, it was starting to lose its meaning for her. But, she did faintly feel butterflies when she heard it from him. “Probably, but it still looks good now. It wasn’t that bad. You’d probably still look just as good as you do now. What if I went blonde? I’ve never really dyed my hair before.” Kacey nodded a little. “I just don’t want to overstep. It’s your dorm, and I don’t want to be the reason that your members don’t want to come back home. It wouldn’t be fair to them.”

“I’d hope that in six months that we would be serious enough to at least talk about it for the future.” He hums happily, reveling in the feeling of her being so close to him. It wasn’t something he got the luxury of very often, not with her debut. He knew he was crazy about Kacey, knew that he was quickly spiraling into being in love with the shorter girl in front of him. “You are, baby. I can promise you that.” He brushes his knuckles against her cheek gently, a smile on his face. He laughs softly, shaking his head. “I like the black hair, though I agree that I need a haircut. I can’t help that my hair just grows really fast.” He pouts slightly. “I think you would look gorgeous no matter what color your hair was. Black, brown, red, blonde, some crazy color. Anything would look beautiful on you.” He shakes his head at her words, intertwining their fingers again. “You wouldn’t be intruding at all, Kace. You’re welcome there, babe.”

“It hasn’t even been two months and I’m already bored.” taekbin complained, head lolling against the wall he was propped up against. “Who knows when Gemini will get another comeback, and I don’t have anything to proposition DS to give me a solo, and there’s no way in hell that they’re gonna give us a subunit.” He sighs deeply, pushing a hand through his jet black hair.

“But the day after our companies announce it, you’re gonna go buy me a ring?” She grinned back. It was just so easy for her to poke fun at him sometimes. “I mean, haven’t you liked other girls before? I can’t possibly be that special. But, I guess it’s a good thing to that I’m not going anywhere, right?” Reaching up, she mimicked his touch, pushing his hair out of his eyes. “You need a hair cut, baby. Or maybe you should start slicking it back. I think that’d look nice,” she murmured. Kacey gasped in feigned shock. “Are you saying that I’m lying to you? I never pretended I wasn’t starving.” She let out a sigh, shaking her head. “I know my body well, I know what I can handle. I would be fine if I ate and then spent a few hours practicing. I could use it. If there’s no one else there,” she answered, nodding. She didn’t want to intrude on their dorm just because she wanted to spend time with Taekbin. They could find somewhere else to go if they had to; she always felt bad going over there and taking up their space.

“Maybe not the day after, but it’d be a conversation we’d probably have.” He smiles, nudging his nose against her cheek affectionately. He just loves being close to her, and he knows that Kacey means something more to him. “I have liked other girls before, but nothing ever felt like this does.” He admits, a faint blush coating his bronzed cheeks. “You are that special, baby.” He murmurs back, only to scrunch his nose up when she runs her fingers through his hair. It’s something he’s fond of, especially with her touch. “I could probably do with a haircut. I hope our next comeback, whenever that is, doesn’t make me go blonde like Last Romeo. I HATED that look.” He scoffs slightly, tugging on her hand. “We can go back to the Gemini dorms and just laze around, eating our food and watching dumb dramas and cuddling. There’s no one there. Everyone is seriously out for the day. We’re getting older so we have more friends and stuff.” He laughs softly.

“If you’re ramping up to a marriage proposal, you should probably wait until we’ve been together longer than a promotions cycle,” she teased, squeezing his hand back. It wasn’t easy for her to get this comfortable around people, but Taekbin was one of the few that brought this side of her out. “You really do fall fast, don’t you?” He’d mentioned it before; she’d believed him, but she had no idea just how quickly it was. Not that she felt any differently about it. She didn’t have the luxury of planning very far into her future yet, though. A side effect of being a rookie with no guarantee that you’ll stay in the limelight. Scrunching up her nose, she shook her head. “That’s a lie, I hate it. Definitely, 100% hate it. Can’t stand your adorable pout.” Kacey laughed at his expression, thinking a moment before making one back at him. “You’re so cheesy, Taek. Can we get something to eat? The food in the dressing rooms isn’t the greatest, and my parents sent me money to treat myself to something nice. I already bought the girls dinner twice and there’s still some left,” she sighed. Her mother was always over the top about everything, including how much she thought a ‘nice dinner’ would cost. “I’m fine, oppa. I competed in at least two pageants a week for almost six years of my life. I appreciate that they care about my health, but I could use the extra time in the studio. Don’t think I’ll be able to convince you to let me use DS’ practice rooms, right?”

“I won’t get that far until we are comfortable enough to go public with this.” He smiles down at her, free hand falling to rest on her waist gently. “We talked about this, Kace. It’s fast, but it lasts. I don’t do things halfheartedly. I just have a feeling about you, and I want it to be right.” He brushes a piece of hair out of her face, his own bangs obscuring his vision slightly. It’d been nearly a month since The Eye promotions had ended, and his hair was already growing out. He laughs at her cute expression. “That’s a lie, you saying it’s a lie.” He contradicts, nudging her slightly. “Of course we can, baby. It’s good for you to eat after a stage too. Since you just wore yourself out, and you can’t even pretend to not be starving.” He raises an eyebrow. “I know, Kace, but it doesn’t mean that you SHOULD. And no, I won’t let you use one of the rooms. I think our dorm should be empty if you want to go back there with our food? Everyone is out doing their separate thing.” He says, scrolling through the messages in the Gemini group chat to see what his members are doing.

She sighed a little, a mix of anxiety and happiness coming out. “That’s what everyone thinks until pictures of them end up on Dispatch’s front page, isn’t it?” When she’d debuted the first time, she certainly wasn’t big enough to be news even if she’d done something scandalous, but as the leader of Alpha’s brand new group, there was a much higher chance that people would be looking for the chance to watch her fall. Maybe some of it was paranoia from being freshly debuted, but some of it had to be justified. Looking around for a moment to make sure they really were alone, Kacey pushed herself up onto her tip toes to kiss him. “You know I hate when you pout at me,” she mumbled. “Why do you keep saying that? If you’re crazy, it’s not because I’m around. You were probably exactly the same before you even knew I existed.” She smiled happily. “Does that mean we’ll be able to spend the rest of the day together? We don’t have anything else going on, and the trainers said I wasn’t allowed to be in the studio today…. They think I’m overworking myself,” she admitted. “They’re wrong, but they’re the ones in charge so I don’t have much of a choice but to listen.”

“I want this to work between us, and keep us out of spotlight as long as I possibly can.” He squeezes her hand gently, dark hair falling into his eyes slightly. “I want you to be it for me.” He says softly. Taekbin’s not usually one for the soft romantics gestures, but there’s just something about Kacey that has him like this. He ducks his head down to meet her halfway, kissing her back with soft pressure. He’s been careful to keep their kisses chaste, not wanting to push her into anything, especially not with their relationship so new. He wants to do this the right way, slow and loving. Like one of those cheesy dramas always playing in the Gemini dorms. “But you also love my pout.” He chuckles, tapping the side of her nose with his free hand, one still entangled in hers. “I was crazy, but now I’m crazy for you, baby.” He makes a silly face at her, laughing softly. “Yeah, you get me the rest of the day. We can do anything you’d like, love.” He kisses her cheeks softly. “You need to get some rest, baby. You can’t overwork yourself, and you need to give yourself some time to rest up and get ready for the next schedules. I wish DS did the same thing with Gemini on our promotion schedules, but the only time they pay any attention to us is during comebacks.” he sighs softly. They’re lucky to get one comeback a year with DS, and it leaves the members restless most of the year. Sure, they have side projects, but it’s not the same as being all together.

“not all of juniors are getting tossed aside; hydra’s doing just fine,” jaehyung says with a shrug. “good for the boy group dynasty of ds, i guess. i just can’t see how ds expects to go from mercury to juno without giving juno half the attention hydra gets. it doesn’t mean much to me unless you’re constantly buying multiples of their albums but i’m sure to some of them it’ll mean something. i’ll make sure to tell them and i’ll let you know their reaction.

“i can’t say i’m the fondest of the cutesy boy group thing. i mean, we tried it but then gemini got too old to do that cutesy crap and that’s when we started getting beat up in all our music videos. literally all of them.” he can’t think of a video since back or destiny that they weren’t getting beat up. even in before the dawn, there was violence. “i don’t know about the rest of the members, but i buy every album of my juniors. it’s the least i can do to give back to ds who gave me a lot. plus, the packaging is great, and i like collecting things.” he smiles brightly. “i’m always rooting for them, and i vote all the time. maybe one of these days, the ceo will snap into himself and realize that he’s missing out on something great by not promoting juno the way he promotes us or hydra or even mercury.”

Hugging him back tightly, she remembered how glad she was that she didn’t really need this makeup to last. Sure, they were out on stage for the finale, but they were in the back and the stylists were already expecting to have to fix it. New debuts were always teary, they’d told her a few days prior when she’d apologized for smudging everything. “Not if they see this.” But he was right, no one would question him visiting Hydra. “What if I say that every moment is important? You’re gonna have to miss some.” She was just being stubborn at this point, but she was excited that he’d managed to make it to see them perform. “No, it’s not,” she agreed. “But it’s a little crazy in such a public spot. Don’t you have any schedules today?”

Taekbin can’t help but smile as she curls into his chest, pressing a kiss to the top of her head softly. He can’t believe this beautiful girl is all his. He remembers his debut like it was yesterday, with matching suits and different colored accessories for each of the members. It was cheesy, and he cringed every time that he thought about it, but it had really helped shape Gemini as a group. “I made sure to pull you away from where anyone would look.” He murmurs back, looking down at her. “I’m not gonna miss the most important ones, like debuts and first stages for comebacks. What if I miss your first win? How terrible would that be?” He pouts slightly, lower lip jutting out. “Well, you make me a little crazy.” Taekbin says with a cheeky grin, brown eyes glimmering. “Not today, no. We get to rest for a little bit, watch the trainees fumble over themselves for Idol Project.”

She didn’t have the chance to properly tell her group that she was walking off for a minute, but they’d been given a little bit of time to do what they had to do- use the bathroom, call their parents, wander to watch the show on a bigger monitor than the one they had in their tiny dressing room. They knew she’d be back in a while. “Stop talking, you’re seriously gonna make me cry,” she mumbled to him, a few tears slipping out. “You could’ve watched at home and called me. Or come to see me at the dorm. Why are you risking showing up?” Her question was a little harsh, but she was thrilled he was there to see her. Overwhelmed, but thrilled. Hopefully, he knew her well enough now to know that she didn’t want him to leave. “You’ve seen me perform before. You’ve come to the studio, and you saw our stage at the holiday show. I can’t believe you’re here.”

Taekbin just laughs, wiping her tears away before pulling her into a hug, burying his face in her shoulder. He just breathes her in for a moment, but his gaze is careful to watch for any unexpected visitors. This is his time with kacey, and he wants to enjoy every minute that he can pull her away from the rest of the world. “Don’t worry, baby. I visited Hydra and invaded their group photo, so anyone who saw me thinks I’m here for them. I wouldn’t have risked it unless there was a DS group performing.” His hands are soft on her waist. “I missed your original debut, and you missed mine, and I’m not missing any more important moments.” he smiles, messy black bangs unkempt under the hat he’s currently sporting. “I wanted to see you. It’s not too crazy to want that.” He wants to lean down and press his lips against her soft ones, but she’s wearing makeup and they’re in much too public of a place.

A few idols had stopped in to wish Echoes well on their debut stages (mostly seniors from Alpha, though others who were promoting did say congratulations in passing), and that was enough for Kacey. The fans were responding well to their song, she couldn’t ask for much more. Her mother had even sent flowers to the dorm for all the girls; something extravagant and expensive, exactly what she’d assume her mother would pick out.

They’d finished their stage well and were on their way back to their dressing room. Backstage was crowded all the time, as she was learning very quickly, and she’d managed to run into someone. “Oh, my god, I’m so- Taekbin?” She hadn’t been expecting to see him there. “What are you doing here?” she whispered loudly, doing her best not to cry. Tears were shed after their first stage; she’d sworn to herself and the girls that she wouldn’t cry again. This was definitely threatening to break that promise.

Taekbin couldn’t help but laugh at her reaction, pulling her into a secluded section of the backstage area so he could properly congratulate her. “Hi baby.” He said softly, tucking a piece of hair behind her ear. He always liked pet names, and using them towards Kacey was no exception. “You looked beautiful out there. i’m so proud of you.” He leans down to press a soft kiss to her forehead, warm hands on her upper arm. “I came to see you of course.” His warm thumb runs under her eye, careful not to smear any makeup. “Don’t cry, Kace. It’s just me.” He smiles down at her brilliantly, defintely not dressed for a music show, in his old jeans and sweatshirt. “I just wanted to see my amazing girlfriend perform on stage. You’ve seen me do it tons of times, but this is your debut.”

He was careful on his way to the music show, cap pulled over his dark hair and a mask and sunglasses covering his face, though he knew it made him look all the more suspicious. But Hydra was also performing, and he was sure that he could use them as an excuse for being at the station while not promoting. He was really here to see Echoes.

He didn’t brave going out into the audience, knowing that it would be too risky for him. He wouldn’t be able to control himself from getting too excited, seeing his girlfriend up on that stage. They’d only been dating since the end of 2016, but he had always been incredibly fond of Kacey, and was so proud of her debut.

He watched from the side, the mask and sunglasses tucked into his pocket. It was dark enough backstage no one would ask any questions. His dark eyes shone happily as he watched Kacey do what she loved, dancing across the stage. He was in deep with her, and she entranced him, so much to the point he didn’t see the stage end.

“I have been saying the same thing for years, and yet no one listens to me. What good am I as a sunbae if all my juniors get tossed aside?” Taekbin laughs softly. “I love everything they put out, and it’s on a constant loop in the Gemini dorm if that’s any consolation?” He knows it’s probably not, but it never hurts to support other groups.

“That’s exactly why I’m hiding,” she mumbled, looking up at him a little when she felt his hand in her hair. His comment made her blush even darker. “You’re the only one whose opinion of me as a person matters.” She was really a person of few words, and she didn’t have a decent explanation for this, anyway. Even if she did, she probably wouldn’t have risked babbling in front of him. There had already been enough of that already; if he wanted to be with her, she wouldn’t ruin it by rambling through the thoughts she barely understood herself. “And you’re….what’s best? Do you think we could pull it off?”

“Don’t hide from me.” He has a slight whine to his voice, and when she looks up, it’s to a pouting taekbin, bottom lip jutting out and eyes shining. “R-really?” That surprises him, but it causes a warm feeling to spread across his chest, making him smile brightly. “You’re the only opinion I care about too.” He mumbles against her cheek, smiling. He nods, fingers running across her skin slightly as he thinks through what he’s going to say. “I think, if there is a couple that could make it through anything, that could defy all the odds and make it through, it’d be us. Neither one of us are new to this game, and we have the fight for this. I want to be with you Kace, and I mean that.”
