hi there everyone! i’m mars and i go by he/they and i’m here to bring you seo yejun and also na sejun. (let’s not talk about how similar their names are, i’ve never had them both in one rp.) everything to know about him you can find in his stats, pinterest, or under the cut. and if you want to plot with us, please like this and i’ll come to you!

quick facts!

yejun has had two phases in life, mentally ill and a mentally ill drag queen. he grew up with a really abusive father who didn’t like him very much and lived in his sister’s shadow, which didn’t give him much time to grow. though he was very smart, he didn’t really do well in school nor did he really have a reason to. 

he was mostly interested in dancing and singing from a very young age and spent a lot of his time dreaming of being an entertainer. but because his dad wouldn’t let him go to an arts school or even take lessons, he was kind of forced to self learn and practice on his own until he tried his luck auditioning for a (insert k-pop entertainment company name here) and began training to become an idol.

tw / training was hard for him. through barely being able to afford food and not having time to breathe, his mood swings became so much worse and forced him into bad coping mechanisms. he began drinking at a very young age and it eventually became a problem. he eventually left the company and checked into rehab which is where he learned that he not only had a substance issue but ptsd and bipolar disorder. getting sober was hard enough, yejun also struggled to figure out how to balance his medication so he didn’t flatline but also kept a sense of self. 

at this time he took a lot of comfort in the lgbt and drag community and began doing drag as a hobby. soon enough it became an identity for him, not just on the internet with his small following but also expressing himself and his gender/sexuality and his passion for entertaining. now he works as a dance instructor and choreographer but also a full time drag queen, performing in the gay clubs throughout seoul. he has a pretty established fanbase that know him as gemini.

yes, i know what you’re thinking. why is he in school? well to continue the brand, that’s why. he’s a visual communications major and wants to use his degree to refine his skills in making his drag persona his total source of income without having to go on drag race. (michelle visage would eat him alive.)

personality wise, yejun is very friendly and social. he spends most of his life socializing so it’s definitely not knew to him, even non professionally. he makes friends easy and is quite funny and silly. a con to this, is some people might find him fake or annoying because he really does have a big, loud personality, is always talking and is not at all shy. (this is why he got in trouble in school.) he can also sometimes come off as very blunt because he is very honest and also very sarcastic.

people who can recognize him with his boy brows and out of drag. he is absolutely not going to advertise that he is a drag queen in the daylight and out of his gay club comfort zone.

i’m bad at coming up with plots but good at plotting, so let’s brainstorm!

yejun’s heart liked to swallow things. it swallowed early memories of his mother at the beach in a summer’s sun, the way she sang in the car with the window’s down and wind blowing her hair past her shoulders, and the way her laugh would always make him laugh, no matter what. it swallowed memories of his sister, sharing secrets under the blanket in a language only they could understand, the way she had no problem with yejun trying on her clothes, the way she told him he was beautiful when he did. and it swallowed his best friend, the first person he ever loved; the way he would never know the right things to say but always the right ways to hold him, the way he eventually told him he loved him, the way they dreamed of growing old together. 

yejun didn’t get close to many people anymore because getting close meant getting swallowed. all the love there would overwhelm, become the wrong kind of desperate. the sick, twisted kind, that made him remember all the memories he lost in a sudden rush of loneliness. but sometimes, you don’t get to choose who you love, sometimes those who become important just find their way to you like a stray cat. 

this is much like how it happened with sihyeon. he didn’t have much of a choice when it came to how much he cared for him, nor did he really seem to mind when he figured it out one day as they were laying on his couch, limbs hanging over each other in a comfortable tangle. and since that day, he was sure that this time things could be different. or so, hwang sihyeon gave him that hope.

“i think this one,” yejun says putting a sparkly purple dress up against sihyeon’s slim figure. he’s more toned than yejun, taller too, though his legs weren’t quite as long as yejun’s. his wide frame might not suit a strapless dress but would look nice in something that hung off his shoulders and cinched the waist. “but if you’re going to wear one of my dresses, you’ll have to wear it. which means, you need to sit still and let me do your makeup.” yejun pats the seat at his vanity and waits for sihyeon to comply.

the bar yejun is in is dingy and yejun would heave been used to the fact if right now was a couple of years ago. back then, before gemini was popular in itaewon and on the internet through a circle of niche and selective straight women and thirsty gay men, yejun came to places like this all the time. they never paid well and people never really tipped but back then he was happy to be doing anything be could while in a dress and fake female persona. 

he wasn’t even that great at makeup back then and only a couple of his wigs were real human hair. his proclivity for chest plates and excessive padding hadn’t even gone out the window yet to embrace a more androgynous figure. 

yejun takes a drink of lemonade, something cheap and almost tasteless as if watered down, save for the extremely sour aftertaste. chihye is not to far away from him, causing him to suddenly remember why he’s here. the bar is her father’s and a popular spot for lgbt youth to come hangout. it’s cheap, it’s dark enough that people can have privacy in certain spots, and it doesn’t judge for fear of being judged itself. 

yejun would be suffering nostalgia if he wasn’t already suffering from sobriety. 

“i don’t think i can do bingo again,” he tells her, rubbing his eyebrow where the makeup clings to make it stay in place. “i’m not cut out for comedy. did it even bring in money to this place? or was my attempt at giving you a favor all in vain?”

yejun’s never said no to a midnight snack. he supposed this was actually something more a long the lines of a two am snack by the look of his phone, but whatever, same difference. sure, he’ll probably get screamed at by his cats for being out so late but it was worth it for some good food and good company, something that yejun’s been starving for. 

yeon is a new friend but a friend nevertheless and yejun can see him becoming something long term, if yeon will have him. making friends outside those in the studio and his fellow queens has been something of a task, but yeon’s made it easy. even if yenjun’s extroverted enough to talk to people in class, most of them never venture outside of hansung’s campus. which is partly his fault, his busy schedule doesn’t stop for anyone. 

“what’s tomorrow?” yejun says rubbing his eye with the back of his hand and looking at the date on the top of his iphone. “fridays i teach dance classes in the morning and have two classes on campus after, so i guess so,” he says with a shrug. having a lot to do during the day and most of his free time at night leaves him tired but he’s learned to survive like this, otherwise he’d never get time to himself or to spend with friends. 

“do you?” he wonders, mind wandering to yeon in his swimming attire. a smirk forms on his lips. “maybe i can make time to come watch your swimming practice.”

yejun closes his eyes, his heart drumming in his chest as ilya turns his head to kiss his cheek. his accent is heavy in yejun’s ear and it sends shivers down his spine. if it were a couple years ago, he’d surely say he’d be regretting this later but even with the loud club music, his mind is clear. he knows what he wants, and what he wants is standing in front of him, hands on the small of his back and with arms around him. 

when he leans back again, his eyes immediately go to ilya’s lips, which are slightly colored with yejun’s lipstick. they also seem to be waiting. he laughs a little and looks up into ilya’s eyes, pushing his hair back with the gentle touch of his hand. ilya’s words manifest in yejun like a challenge and yejun’s always had a hard time saying no to a dare. 

so he kisses him again, this time slower and less tentative, more sure. yejun opens his mouth a little and indulges before breaking the kiss to lean back, dipping backward because he knows ilya will hold him up. they’re in a club after all, so yejun keeps his body moving to the strong pull of the beat, hips against hips, until he resumes position and they’re pressed against each other again. 

yejun kisses him again, equally as confident but bordering on desperate now. he indulges until he runs out of breath and the song fades into another. “like that?” he asks, lips pulled up into a smirk.

“feel free to teach me,” yejun says with a small smile. “but i’ll probably forget. i barely have the brain capacity to teach myself new makeup techniques. this is why i could never go on ru paul’s drag race. the fashion queens would own me because everything that looks nice on me is something i buy in a store.” he smiles and runs his finger along the top of the hangers until he finds something that looks interesting, pulling it out to only push it back in. 

yejun stalls at the question. there’s not much that yejun is willing to talk about when it comes to his past, even his therapist has a hard time opening him up. but with mei, it doesn’t feel as harsh. even with her strong personality and quick judgement, he knows that she’s a lot softer than that, even if she doesn’t like to admit it. he relents, just a little. “more like... i lived with them,” he says, hinting to the multiple men who let him couch surf in return for vulnerable pieces of him. “i was also way too young to be doing what i was doing but even so, men will take advantage of anything they can to... indulge themselves.” 

he pauses and looks at her with a smirk, almost not letting himself take it as serious as he probably should. “you’re too pretty for that.” 

“the ones in english are even funnier,” he says with a nod and a laugh. “i think they’re kinda great? like almost so stupid that they make a statement, even ironically.” he turns his gaze back to mei and her pretty dress, arms going to cross over his abdomen, back slouching in usual yejun fashion. “that sounds like a good idea,” he says with another nod. “this place seems like the bottom of the barrel. isn’t consignment supposed to be... good? they surely overprice everything.” yejun shrugs. “yeah, let’s find another place.”

as the iso’s laziest and never on-time member, he finds it almost impossible to say no to the freshman orientation event. his schedule is usually way to busy for him to devout free time to extra curricular, yet he tries for the desperate sake of his social life. it’s just hard when he works four days a week and weekend nights in itaewon. besides even if he wanted to say no, the mandatory requirement pushes him out of bed if he wants to keep a spot in the iso. 

yejun waits, ruffling his hair as he occasionally looks away from his phone to search for his buddy, who should be making their way to him now. he locks his phone finally and puts it in his pocket, crossing his arms over his chest until he spots someone making their way over to him. he looks around briefly, noting no one else around so it can’t be a mistake when he sees her look his way. so he stands up straight, hands at his sides and gives a sweet smile. 

“hello,” he says politely bowing a little. “are you my buddy? i’m yejun.”

yejun can feel ilya’s nervousness roll off him like water. yejun hasn’t done this in awhile, besides his night out with haksu. when yejun’s dancing, it’s usually on stage or in a more professional setting, like his weekly classes in the studio. his childhood was wasted in places like this so even when his friends invite him out, he has to turn them down. it’s too risky to be here and so dancing like this, with a boy, surrounded by the threat of intoxication is rare. still, yejun misses it and so once and awhile, he indulges. 

for some reason, with ilya there’s no underlying anxiety or nagging need to get wasted. there’s a rush already, an inebriation that’s similar but also so much different, than the one he ultimately still craves, the one he will never not crave. it’s also familiar, way too fucking familiar. 

he leans back a little, body still moving against ilya’s, hands curled around his shoulders. ilya looks handsome even in this light, where his skin is the colors of the lights that move all around them and there’s sweat building on his brow. but it’s the way he looks back at yejun, that causes a skip to his heart so prominent, yejun has to turn around for a moment and take a breath. he manages to keep ilya’s hands on him, holding them to his body as he leans back with his eyes closed. 

he feels languid, he feels raw.

when yejun turns around, he feels a little more prepared and a hand goes up to hold ilya’s cheek softly. there’s a moment where he almost loses all of his natural confidence and wit, but then gains it in a sudden bout of bravery. yejun does what he thinks is right, which is leaning in to kiss ilya on the mouth. it’s somewhat shy and tentative, insecure about the possibility that he’s read this all wrong. 

when yejun’s face buries into ilya’s neck, he has to whisper close to his ear an “i’m sorry,” followed up by a nervous laugh. “i’ve just wanted to do that for awhile,” he says.

yejun’s competitive as fuck so he’s probably way too serious about capture the flag so give him someone who’s just as competitive or maybe someone who’s not at all competitive that yejun’s somehow forced to play along

yejuns very determined to get free food by solving the escape room, again too way to serious about it?? maybe your muse is super annoyed with how bossy he is or they’re also determined and they’re fighting yejun for leadership dominance 

wander around with yejun and play all the carnival style games, he will probably complain about the prizes a lot but he will also offer to pay for your lunch or something

sejun doesn’t even want to go to this event but your muse thinks he could use a day out of his apartment, which means cranky hungover sejun playing carnival style games with sunglasses perpetually on

sejun can’t stop staring at his art piece for auction. it sucks, right? give him your honest opinion. you don’t have to lie, it’s trash. how did this garbage painting win anything? (or sejun can’t stop waiting to see if his painting will sell and you need to probably literally drag him away)

yejun feels that twitch of nervousness as they get close to the bar, a feeling he always gets no matter how many clubs he performs in. it takes every ounce of will power to try not to think too much about how easy it would be to walk up and order something for himself, not to romanticize the dullness of nerves and courage in the form of a stinging clear and odorless liquid. so even though he’s promised to stay by haksu’s side the entire night, he relents to stand a few feet away his back turned as he stares at the lights emitting from the dj booth instead. 

yejun smiles at him. “good because i’d leave you here,” he jokes, reaching out to pinch haksu’s blushing red cheek. 

he watches people rush past them, hands attached to bodies, the closeness. yejun’s thinking that he should go out like this more often. no one here seems to notice him and it’s always been that simplicity of anonymity that he’s always loved so much about clubs. even without the rush of any additional substances, it’s still thrilling. the freedom of being lost in a crowd is still there to appeal to him, the idea that he can dance without having to perform. 

“you ready to go out there?” yejun asks haksu, leaning forward a bit. “and i swear if you say you can’t dance, i’ll have to remind you that you’re only dancing with me. i don’t bite, i promise.”

yejun’s anxiety starts to rise when he realizes that maybe she has no idea what he’s talking about. it’s stupid really, most people don’t give a shit about the drag scene in seoul. his regulars consist of a few straight women, creepy guys who think that he’s still desperate enough to sleep with them, his friends, and on occasion his mother. he spends a few extra moments silently hating himself for jumping to conclusions and not digging a little deeper into the situation before speaking. 

“debuted?” yejun repeats, his eyebrows furrowed slightly. he shakes his head and then his mind resets as he looks at her. the more he does, the more he recognizes her. “wait, now i know who you are.” 

yejun lets out a laugh and it rings underneath the concrete creating echos around them. he notices a few people stare at the two of them, annoyed or perplexed by their interaction, but by then, he’s too amused to care. 

“i didn’t debut, sorry. i thought you knew me from something else. we were trainees together, weren’t we? no, i left long before they were even thinking about putting me in a group and thank god. but you’re... are you still? it’s been so long since i’ve seen you.”

yejun laughs a little, his eyes focused on pulling apart hangers of clothes. “i don’t know but i’m glad i only know one way to sew. what more do you need besides basically like... a tube with sleeves, hm?” yejun shakes his head, pulling out a faded t-shirt with bad grammar on it before placing it back on the rack. “don’t get a sugar daddy. don’t ask me how i know but it never works out, no matter how safe you play it. you can live with me and be my in house seamstress.” 

he takes a minute to think before answering he next question. “communications is you know. i guess it’s fine, better than being an arts major or stem major for sure. i don’t know how you guys survive. i can’t complain... or well i can, but i won’t.” yejun rolls his neck, starting to give up on finding anything really good or at least usable with a change to the silhouette. 

“you’re right,” yejun admits, proud of the idea of gemini being a brand. “i do wear a lot of pink, short, thin, spaghetti strap dresses though. maybe just a different color?” yejun pauses to take a look, standing back to get her entire figure in view. “the color is gorgeous,” he says, looking up at her. “i think honestly you look amazing in anything, i don’t even know why you’re asking my opinion. how do you find the best stuff?”

“that’s okay,” yejun says with a smile, pulling ilya along out of the club. there’s another spot, less for shows and more for dancing across the street. “you don’t have to be a great dancer to dance. when you’re in a club, it really doesn’t matter. i’m sure no one in here is going to be a great dancer but they just do it, you know? that’s what’s great, no one is really watching.” yejun throws his ariana grande pony tail behind him and laughs a little. 

the few moments they’re outside, it’s freezing and yejun’s legs are being bitten by the cold even through the many layers of tights. but he’s hurried along by the many employees, bouncers, that know him in gemini’s clothing around itaewon. he wants to laugh because years ago, he had to do more than just four hours of heavy makeup to get into clubs. it’s amazing what a dress and a few people knowing his name will do. 

once they’re inside, he feels a relief of warmth. there are hundreds of bodies in a conglomerate all moving in some way to the heavy beat of the music. yejun’s always loved being in clubs, the anonymity of it and the way everything seems to pulsate. “you ready?” yejun says speaking close to ilya so he can hear, all too close to his neck. he smiles, taking ilya’s hand and pulling him to the dance floor, pushing groups of people till they’re almost swallowed. 

“just keep your eyes and hands on me,” yejun says wrapping his arms around ilya’s neck, only abandoning them to make sure ilya’s holding tightly onto his waist. he leans back to look at ilya closely. “see not so bad, hm?”

“they’re pretty,” yejun says pushing his fake lashes up. “but they’re so uncomfortable. too bad they really sell the illusion of man in a dress to the straight people who are here purely for entertainment.” yejun smiles, letting out a little laugh. he pauses, looking at ilya closely. his words are somewhat jumbled and it’s a very simple conclusion. the blush on ilya’s face is contagious and he can’t help but reciprocate. good thing the heavy layer of foundation helps to mask it.  

“watch,” yejun says with a laugh. “well, now that’s interesting. should i just sit here and look pretty for you?” yejun’s words come out with an accented raised eyebrow. “you know, so you can... watch.” yejun giggles a little, turning around to face the mirror again so he can put another layer of lip gloss on his lips where it’s faded to matte. that’s what he gets for needing to stay hydrated during his performances but his legitimate dancer self wouldn’t let it be anything else. he even stretches where the other twenty something year olds will have to get a hip replacement in time for their next death drop or split. 

a smile lingers on his face when he hears the small muttering in russian, something under his breath that yejun wouldn’t have caught even if he did speak ilya’s native language. he pretends to ignore the obvious fluster of his friend. “anyways, i think we could hit the other clubs. i’m not quite ready to go home yet. i’m sorry i don’t drink but i do like to dance. not wearing pants is quite freeing, even if i’m heavily duct taped. would you dance with me?” 

he stands, pulling down his dress once more and casually forgetting to remember it usually stays only inches down his thighs. he’d give a shit if he wasn’t in the gayest neighborhood in seoul. even in winter, minimal clothing is preferred, especially compounded in tips. “shall we go?” he wonders, offering ilya a hand so he can eventually weave his arm around his own.

usually yejun doesn’t have time for shopping between working all week and the full schedule of classes on top of it. but sometimes, he feels the utmost necessity to skip his afternoon classes to spend time with a friend. mei however is more than a friend, something like a soul mate, so it’s an easy yes to skip his daily existential crisis over memorizing psychology terms and spending his hard earned money instead. 

yejun meets mei at their usual place to shop, which is routinely followed up with a stop to their favorite lunch spot. luckily enough, it’s even somewhat nice outside; the cold weather has warmed up from the bitter cold with the introduction of the sun. it makes it a perfect day for them to lazily walk around stores together, talking about whatever comes to mind. 

“how are your classes?” yejun says peeking through racks the clothes. when he shops, he shops for two because sometimes he can’t not buy something he know would look nice on instagram or on stage. truthfully, yejun always comes second in the clothing department for gemini. it’s nice to have mei to give him a second opinion on what he does and doesn’t need. “do you think i wear too many of the same looks on gemini’s instagram? maybe i need to change it up and make her less bratz doll and more goth or something.”

yejun laughs a little. “what will i do when the 90′s are no longer in?”

“the hardest thing about being in drag isn’t even tucking,” yejun says looking into the mirror. “it’s the lashes. i fucking hate these things.” he’s brought ilya to the dressing room before he has to go back out to meet people after the show. usually not that many people hang around, especially because the night is still just getting started so he’s not worried about walking out of this room anytime soon. 

he turns around, crossing his legs and pulling down the obscenely short dress only for it to spring back up his thighs. “anyways, did you enjoy the show?” yejun can’t hide his excitement. every time a friend says they’re coming to see him perform, he feels annoyingly giddy. most of the time it’s their first time seeing a drag show, or a drag queen in person. it’s just a matter of minutes before he gets emotional enough to cry. 

“the shows will go on all night too,” yejun says. “otherwise i guess i could make an appearance elsewhere, if you wanna see other clubs too.” his anxiety rises with the suggestion but he swallows it. “what do you think?”
