I think a while ago I posted a collection of Colter's most kicked puppy expressions, so I figured it was time to balance it out with him just being a happy lil (6ft+) guy.

Chapter three here
The next morning Colter woke up feeling the sun on his face. Stretching, he looked to his right and saw a cascade of red, Mak’s hair spread out on her pillow. A small smile appeared as he replayed the events of last night. Sliding over in the bed, he pulled himself behind her tucking himself in and draping an arm over her waist. He felt her stir slightly before a mumble, “good morning.” He felt the subtle way she pushed her body back into his.
“Morning.” He nuzzled his face into her neck, “you better be careful with those hips, feels like they are asking for round two.”
Mak looked over her shoulder, smirking with eyebrows raised. “Round two, huh?” She rolled over when a mildly confused look crossed his face. “Last night was so subpar that you don’t remember round two?” Her smirk grew, “or three.”
He smirked back, “definitely didn’t forget, I just classify one night as one round.”
She chuckled, “nice save. You know, I didn’t think you’d still be here this morning.”
“Why’s that?”
“Just don’t seem like a sleep over kinda guy.”
“If you wanted me to leave, you could have just asked.”
She chuckled again and wrapped her arms around his neck. “Trust me, if I wanted you to leave, you wouldn’t be here right now.”
He smirked lightly, leaning into her body. “I don’t doubt that one bit. So, you wanted to keep me around, huh?”
“Well, yeah. I was kinda hoping there would be a round four.”
He grabbed her waist, flipping her body so she was on her back underneath him. “Round four, sounds a little greedy to me.”
She pulled his head down to press her lips against his. “What can I say, morning sex is the best sex.”
An hour or so later, Mak stretched out in bed groaning as the stretch went through her worked body. Hearing a vibration she grabbed her phone seeing Reenie calling as Colter walked out of the bathroom in just a towel after his shower. She looked him up and down, considering letting it ring and pulling him back into bed, but saw the 8 unread texts from her also and opted to answer it.
“Hello?”
“Oh thank god you’re alive. I was about to send out a swat team.”
“Little dramatic much, don’t you think?”
“Not at all. Since when in our friendship have you not answered a message in over 12 hours.”
Mak sat up in bed, reaching down grabbing Colters tshirt from the floor and pulling it over her head.
“Okay, fair. But why jump straight to death?”
Colter finished doing up his jeans and looked around for his shirt when his eyes landed on Mak.
“I need that you know,” he whispered quietly.
She made a face and shook her head no as she blatantly looked his bare chest up and down, making him chuckle and shake his head.
“I’m a lawyer, I see a lot of bad shit. My mind just goes that way now.”
Colter walked out of the bedroom when a knock came from the front door, just as Reenie said “by the way. Open your door already.”
“I’ll get it.” She heard from down the hall.
“Colter, no-“
“Colter?” She heard through the phone as the door opened. Closing her eyes and sighing, she brought a hand to her eyes, not having wanted to deal with this this morning.
“Mak? What is Colter doing answering your door with no shirt on?” Both of them still on the phone.
Mak got out of bed and padded down the hall going to meet them both at the front door, before she could answer she entered Reenie’s line of vision, “ah, and there’s the shirt in question.”
Reenie pulled the phone away and hit end call. “So, I guess I don’t need to ask what you were doing last night since you couldn’t answer my messages.” She looked from Mak to Colter and back to Mak again.
“How about I go grab some pants for this conversation.”
“I wouldn’t mind a shirt, either.” Colter said stepping back to allow Reenie room to enter the house.
As second later, he felt fabric hit the back of his head and turned around to see his shirt on the floor at his feet and Mak walking down the hall naked.
He put his shirt on and followed Reenie over to the couch to wait for Mak.
“So, you in town long?” Reenies attempt at small talk came out awkwardly.
“I’m not sure yet…” his response equally as awkward in tone.
Mak came back out fully dressed and joined them on the couches, they all looked around awkwardly no one knowing where to start.
Reenie stood, smoothing down her skirt. “You know what? I’m just gonna go. I came over hoping for a juicy story on why you went awol last night and now… I don’t know, maybe later? Maybe not at all? I’m not sure anymore.” She shrugged and headed toward the front door. When she got there she turned to look at the two of them on opposite ends of the same couch and said the first thing that came to mind, “be safe kids.”
Her eyes widened and she shook her head muttering to herself “what?” as she left the house.
“Well, that was fun.” Colter said relaxing back into the couch.
“You and I have very different ideas of fun.”
“Didn’t seem that way last night. Or this morning.”
She picked up the pillow from behind her and lobbed it at his head.
“Be careful, or there won’t be a round five.”
Before he could respond his phone rang. He looked down and saw Velma’s name across the screen. “Sorry, gotta take this.”
He grabbed his phone and walked into the kitchen. Mak sighed and rested her head back on the couch, not believing her last 24 hours, though thoroughly enjoying them. Well, most of them. Colter came back in the room, “sorry, work calling. The missing don’t seem to ever stop.”
Mak smiled at him, standing up. “When duty calls.”
He came over to her, staring at her for a second before leaning down to kiss her. “Maybe next time I’m in town I’ll stop by again.”
“I wouldn’t hate that. But something tells me you don’t normally come to town often.”
He shrugged, “people go missing everywhere. You never know.”
She chuckled, “you better get outta here before I give you a compelling reason not to.”
“Yes ma’am.” He started toward the door, she followed, leaving some space between the two of them. He got to the door and opened it, turning to face her again. “I’m serious, I’ll text you next time I’m around.”
“Don’t get shot as an excuse though.”
He chuckled and went through the door, “no promises.”
She smiled and walked over to the door, leaning on the frame, watching him walk to his truck.
“Bye.”
“See ya around, Mak.”
Ah that's so a Colter thing to do 😅
If you’re the risk, I’m gonna take it.
Chapter Three
Chapter one here
Chapater two here
One week later Mak was dealing with more gunshots. This time though, they were properly in the ER where they should be, instead of her living room. 2 gang bangers came in with multiple gunshots each and the team went to work. During the chaos, she felt her watch buzz on her arm indicating a new text message coming through, but ignored it.
An hour later she pulled off her gloves and threw them in the trash. Sanitizing and then fixing her pony tail, she sighed. Today was draining her. She was still only halfway through her shift and didn’t know how she was going to make it to the end.
She left the trauma room and headed towards the desk, “I’m going to go grab a coffee, anyone else need one?” A couple coworkers took her up on her offer and off she went towards the cafeteria. As she pushed through the doors of the ER, she remembered the text message that came through and pulled out her phone. She opened it and saw the message came from a number she didn’t have saved and her heart jumped for a second, hoping it was who she thought it would be. She hadn’t heard from him since he left her house.
“Hey, it’s Colter. I’m swinging through town tomorrow and was wondering if you could take out the stitches you so expertly placed?”
She smiled down at her phone and pit stopped in the hallway leaning against the wall.
“Why do I have a feeling you know exactly how to take out your own stitches, you just didn’t have a better opening line?”
She stared down at the phone after hitting send, trying her best to push the smile that remained on her face away when she saw 3 dots pop up.
“Well damn. I’ve been made.”
(Second later) “So…. Is this a no?”
She stared at the phone biting her lip to try and stop herself from smiling even bigger.
“It’s a yes. Don’t expect crap like this to work on me all the time though, Shaw.”
“Noted, Jones. Home or work tomorrow?”
“Home. I’d give you the address, but you already know where to find me.”
“How could I forget?”
She allowed herself to smile bigger for one second before replying.
“Sweet talker.”
She went to put her phone back in her pocket and continue on her mission for caffeine when it buzzed again.
“😉. See you tomorrow.”
Mak attempted to sit on the couch, feet underneath her to keep her from fidgeting. She had rushed through her routine on a day off since Colter never gave her a time and she definitely didn’t want to be caught unprepared. She tried distracting herself by reading a book but gave up after she read the same page 4 times. Could she just text him to see what time he was planning on coming? Of course, but her brain told her that could be construed as needy and so she threw that idea out the window.
By the time 7pm rolled around, she had given up. She went into her bedroom and changed out of the cute outfit she put on into her pyjamas. If she was going to be disappointed, she was at least going to be comfy while doing it. She brushed her hair and headed back out to the living room to get situated under the blanket and lose herself in reality tv. On her way out she heard a knock on the door and stopped, head turning to the window where she saw the airstream sitting in the driveway. “Of course,” she muttered to herself as she looked down at her pyjamas and back to the door, “screw it.” She walked over to the door opening it to reveal Colter standing there.
“Sorry I got here so late,” his eyes travelled over her taking in the sight of the tank top and short outfit she had on, “it’s a long story that I won’t bother you with.” He stepped back from the stoop and pointed to the truck, “maybe I should just go, seems like you’ve called it a night already.”
“No, no, it’s fine, come in. I legit just changed.” She backed up, giving him room to come through the door, trying not to make it obvious she was watching the way his tshirt hugged his biceps as he walked by. She could feel the blush in her cheeks, thinking she probably should have tossed a sweater on before opening the door.
“Got dressed up just for me, huh?” He said with a smirk as he passed her. “I won’t stay long, I’ll be out of your hair quick.”
“Or, you could join me for a beer? I was just about to grab one,” she closed the door and followed him in, “unless you have somewhere to be?”
“Nope, all yours tonight.”
She tried her best to conceal the smirk spreading across her face as she started for the kitchen, “then have a seat.” Opening the fridge she grabbed two beers, coming back out and handing one to Colter. A bold feeling took over and she decided to take the spot on the other side of the couch from him, curling her feet up under her once again and taking a swig from the beer. Before either of them spoke, she caught his eyes roaming over her again and felt her pulse quicken.
“So, what’s this long story that you didn’t want to burden me with?”
He chuckled and leaned back into the couch, “some crazy lady I encountered on my last job. Took up half my day just trying to deal with her.”
“Hey, sounds like most of my work days too.”
“I don’t know how you do it, dealing with what you do.”
She laughed, “oh yeah, says the guy who goes out and finds missing people for a living. I’m sure none of those jobs end up as good stories.”
“Okay, okay, you might be onto something.”
A few beers and hours later, Mak looked up at the clock on the wall, “holy shit, it’s 11:30.”
“And I have taken up your entire night,” Colter said finishing his beer.
“I didn’t say anything about minding it.” She reached to the table to set her beer bottle down and noticed the supplies sitting there to take out Colters stitches. “We haven’t even taken out your stitches yet.” She got up and reached for the supplies, “shirt off.”
He looked at her with wide eyes, a smirk slowly spreading across his face. “I see the beers have taken away what little bedside manner you did have.”
“You want me to do this or not? Take your shirt off.” The beers also have apparently also taken away any nerves, she thought to herself.
Supplies in hand, she sat back down on the couch, this time right beside him so she could work. About half way through she caught him wincing, even though he was trying to hide it and murmured, “sorry. Almost done.”
He stared at her while she worked, the beer not making him even close to drunk, but definitely lowering his inhibitions. He watched her pull out the last stitch and go back over it once more with a saline dampened 4x4, noting it felt like she was taking her time.
“All done. You’re good as new, as long as you don’t get shot again.”
She looked up at him, catching him lick his bottom lip before speaking. “If this is the kind of service I’m going to get, I can’t promise anything.”
She could feel her heart beat increasing as she spoke, “you don’t have to get shot you know, you could just ask nicely.”
“Oh really?”
Before she lost the nerve, she got up on her knees and swung one leg over, straddling his lap. “Yeah, being nice will get you lots of places.”
His large hands gripped her thighs, then moved to run his hands up and down her legs, after a few seconds he responded, “what if I don’t want to be nice right now?”
She leaned down, her lips almost touching his, “good thing I already took your stitches out then.”
Smirking, he opted not to answer and closed the gap between them pressing his lips to hers. She brought her arms up and wrapped them around his neck, in response his hands found her lower back.
After a few seconds, Mak pulled away for a breath and smirked. “I’m really glad I wasn’t working when you needed stitches. It would be so frowned upon to be making out with a formal patient.”
Colter stood up, taking Mak with him. She gasped lightly and wrapped her legs around his waist, holding on. “That is lucky, cause what we’re about to do would be way more than frowned upon.”
She tightened the grip around his neck to pull him in for another kiss, “oh really? And what would that be?”
“Point me in the direction of your bedroom and I’ll show you.”
Her eyebrow quirked lightly as a smirk appeared on her face, “down the hall and to the right.”
He kissed her again, turning them around and heading in the direction that she gave. “Hold on tight.”
“Yes sir.” She leaned down, attaching her lips to his neck.
She swore he growled slightly before responding, “don’t start something you can’t finish, Mak.”
“Oh, don’t worry. We’ll both finish.”
The end 🫣🤭🫠 hehe... ok goodnight!
If you’re the risk, I’m gonna take it.
Chapter two
Chapter one here
A few hours later Mak was coming back into her house, arms full of bags. As she was setting them on the table, she stretched her neck to find the couch and saw Colter laying there scrolling on his phone.
“Oh wow. You listened for once.”
She made her way to the living room as he put his phone down, turning his head to look at her.
“Contrary to popular belief, I do know how to take care of myself.”
She looked at him with a smirk, “okay mister ‘I got shot and don’t need a hospital.‘“
“I mean, I ended up with my own private nurse, I don’t think that’s too shabby.”
She noted the eye contact he made and held it, staring into his brown orbs. “Yeah, well, don’t expect a sponge bath anytime soon.”
“Nah, we’ll save that for later. We barely know each other.”
She broke eye contact as she laughed. “I wish all of my patients had that philosophy.”
“I’m not any old patient.” He smirked slightly as he said it.
She shook her head and looked back over at him, “you, Mr. Shaw, are trouble. And I have groceries to put away.” She headed back towards the kitchen, sending one more glance back his way, noting him watching her walk away.
She got back into the kitchen and started emptying bags when she realized someone was missing. “Where’d Reenie go?”
“She had a work thing she needed to run out for, said she’d be back soon.”
“Sure, a work thing. AKA she was tired of being tracker-sitter?”
“I’m really not as much work as you make me out to be.”
As she put a box into the cupboard, she noted his voice sounding closer than it previously had. She turned and he was standing in the doorway, standing may have been a generous term, more like hunched in the doorway.
“Hurts, doesn’t it?”
“Mhm.” He murmured, his hand gravitating towards his side.
She took a moment to look at him, this being the first time she saw him both awake and vertical at the same time and then started making her way toward him. “Huh, maybe that’s why I told you to lay down.” She swatted his hand away from his side and pulled up his shirt, pulling back the dressing slightly to look at the wound, “ I can give you something else for pain if you want it.” She carefully replaced the dressing and slowly lowered his shirt back down, looking up she realized how close she was to his hunched down face and hovered a minute before stepping back.
“No, I think I’m good. Don’t want to get too loopy and say something I’ll regret.”
“Something you’d regret, huh?”
“Oh yeah, I get the feeling you’re never going to let me live down the ‘lay down’ thing, don’t want to add to that list.”
She chuckled as her front door opened. “Seriously Colter, I leave for 30 minutes and you’re up walking around?” Reenie appeared in the kitchen doorway behind him, “I swear I tried.”
“Don’t worry, I’m getting the feeling this one won’t do anything he doesn’t want to do.”
Reenie rolled her eyes, “oh you have no idea.”
Colter smirked at Mak before lowering himself to a kitchen chair, “I am right here, ladies.”
“Exactly, and if you had listened and were still on the couch, you wouldn’t be hearing any of this.” She sent a pointed look his way and Mak chuckled at the interaction between the two.
“Okay kids, be nice.” She finished putting the last of her items away and turned to face them, leaning on the counter she crossed her arms with a small smirk on her face.
“How long are you two planning on staying? No pressure, I have guest rooms.”
Reenie was about to speak when Colter cut in, “I was actually thinking about heading out. Getting back to the airstream and relaxing.”
“Sure, relaxing.” Reenie turns to Mak, “what he really means is he’s going back to head out for his next job.”
Mak holds her hands in the air, “I treat ‘em and street ‘em, not responsible for what he does after.”
Reenie sighed and got up, “guess this means I’m his ride back, thanks for your help Mak. Hopefully we didn’t ruin your day.”
“I’d say my day was anything but ruined.” As Mak spoke, she glanced over at Colter and noticed his eyes were already on her.
Reenie headed back out towards the door, “I’ll get the car. Meet me outside?”
Colter nodded and moved to get up, slowly this time to avoid more pain, but failed and winced as he got up. Mak headed in his direction, stopping just in front of him and reaching for his shirt to check his wound one last time. As she pulled his shirt up, he spoke. “Seriously though, thank you.”
She looked up at him as she pulled the dressing back, “you’re welcome,” lingering a moment longer on his eyes before looking back to the stitches. She caught herself lingering a moment longer on his stomach, shaking her head lightly and replacing the dressing.
“I’d give you instructions on how to take care of this, but something tells me it’s not your first time.”
He chuckled, “you would be right on that one.”
“What can I say, I have a sixth sense about these things. But,” she turned and headed for the notepad on the fridge, scribbling something on it and ripping it off heading back over to him, “if you need anything, here’s my number.”
Their fingers touched as he grabbed the paper from her and their eyes met again, “will do.” After a second he folded the paper up and tucked it into his pocket, “it was really nice meeting you, Mak.”
She smiled softly, feeling a blush come over her cheeks and mentally cursing herself for it. “You too Colter.”
A honk came from the driveway and Mak chuckled.
“Someone’s impatient, better go before she leaves you here.”
Colter turned heading towards the door, “I could think of less terrible things.”
“I donno, I already told you my bedside manner can be crap for ne’er-do-well patients.”
Colter chuckled this time, “that might be something I’m willing to test out for myself.” He got to the front door and turned to face her again, “see you around.” He closed the door behind him, leaving Mak alone in her living room. She closed her eyes and let out a breath, acknowledging the electric feeling in her body she had had since the kitchen. Her phone pinged in her pocket, a message from Reenie on the screen. She opened it seeing a picture of Colter in the drivers seat of her car, “can’t even drive my own car. Should have left him with you…”
She let out a single chuckle at the message, “yeah, maybe you should.” She muttered to herself.
She tossed the phone on the touch and plopped herself down, smelling Colter’s cologne on the cushions. Sighing, she dropped her head back and closed her eyes, “you’re screwed, Mak. You’re screwed.”
I like how Mak teases him and fires back 😂 she doesn't accept any bs here. And she still falls for him 🫠🫠
If you’re the risk, I’m gonna take it.
Hello all! This is a new multi part series based on tracker. Not sure now many parts it will be right now, but I will keep you all posted. Hope you enjoy!
Summary : Mak is an ER nurse who has been friends with Reenie for years. When Colter gets shot on a job, Reenie brings him to Mak for help. Mak has a rocky past, so does Colter, so what could this mean for their future?
Chapter one
Mikayla rolled over looking at her alarm clock and sighed. It was 1 in the afternoon, which means she really only got 4 hours of sleep from the time she got home from her night shift, but still time to get up and conquer the world. Or at least the grocery shopping.
Stepping out of the shower she heard her phone ping and looked down at it on the vanity seeing a message from Reenie on the screen. Drying her hair she grabbed the phone to open the message.
“Hey. In town, might need your special skills. Keep you posted.”
Mikayla, aka Mak, was an ER nurse and had been for 10 years. The only special skills Reenie could possibly be referring to would be those.
After getting dressed and her hair partially dried, Mak went into the kitchen to make herself some coffee, which she had a feeling was going to be much needed.
As she took her first sip, her phone rang, Reenies picture displaying across her screen. She leaned against the counter and answered.
“City morgue, you stab ‘em we slab ‘em.”
“And what about gun shots? Where do those go?”
“Please don’t tell me you did something stupid and got yourself shot and this is why you’re calling me.”
“Nope. A friend of mine did something stupid and got himself shot. That’s why I’m calling you.”
She chuckles, taking another sip of her coffee. “Checks out. Are you sure this friend wouldn’t be better off at a hospital?”
“If he would let me take him to one, hence why I’m on my way to you.”
“You know where to find me, I’ll make sure I have everything I might need.”
“You’re a godsend, thanks Mak.”
“Yeah yeah, see you soon.”
She hung up, took a big swig of coffee and headed for her linen closet to make sure she had everything she would need to take care of a gun shot wound.
“Starting to think maybe I should have brewed a whole pot…” she muttered under her breath.
Half an hour later Mak heard tires on her gravel driveway. Heading out the side door she saw Reenie coming around the car.
“Hey, I’d give you a hug but I think we should probably get him inside. If we can…”
Mak looked at her, brow furrowing.
“What do you mean ‘if we can’?”
Reenie opened the passenger door of her car and revealed a tall, well built blonde man passed out in the seat.
“The dead weight thing might be an issue.”
“Good thing I’m a trained professional.” Mak took the lead, advising Reenie how to help her get the man into the house and they started on their way.
“This is Colter by the way. Thank you for saying you’d help him.”
“Of course Reen. Looks a little worse for wear right now. Should I ask how he got the gun shot, or just leave it?”
“That’s a story I’ll let him tell later.”
“Hmmm, I’m intrigued. Let’s put him on the couch, I can work on him there.”
Both women maneuvered the limp body onto the couch and Mak took over, getting to work on assessing and repairing.
Half an hour later, Mak was done and cleaning up her living room. Hearing a rustling noise behind her, she turned towards the couch, watching the sleeping man’s eyes flicker open and shut as he slowly starts to wake up.
“Well good morning sunshine, nice of you to join us.”
Colter blinked several times looking at the girl the voice came from. Long red hair, bright blue eyes. He’s not sure who she is, or where he is, but he is sure this isn’t a terrible way to wake up.
“Am I dead?” He groaned, pain starting to take over.
“No, would you like to be?” Mak replies with a slight smirk.
“Not particularly.”
“Good, cause my business thrives on the living.”
Colter chuckles lightly and sits up, wincing as his muscles flex. He reaches down and feels the stitches in his side. Stitches, which he can only assume means the bullet has been removed. He swings his legs over the bed, hissing now as the movement pulls more. His hiss and the rustle of the couch pulls Mak from her cleaning.
“Hey hey hey there cowboy, where do you think you’re going ?” She made her way over to him.
“Getting up, I’ve got work to do. “
She raised her eyebrows, nodding slowly, slight smirk on her face. “How about you make laying back down your only job right now?”
Colter looks at her, giving no sign of listening to her. Mak sent a pointed look his way. After a 30 second staring contest, he gave in and started to lay back, wincing again as he did,
“See? Job done. Now you can relax.”
He scowled at her and reflexively drew a hand to his side as another jolt of pain goes through the site. She walks over and crouches beside him, moving to lift up his shirt to check the stitches. Removing his hand from the site, he winced as the shirt brushed over the stitches.
“I’m Mikayla, but everyone calls me Mak.”
“Colter.”
“I know.”
“Reenie?”
“Reenie.”
“I should have known, she never listens. I told her not to call you.”
Chuckling she turned back to the pile she was working on cleaning the first time colter tried to get out of bed. He watched her carefully and tried his best to be as quiet as possible trying again to get up from the couch.
“Has anyone ever told you you suck at listening?” turns and looks at him questioningly, “I said lay down.”
Colter grumbles but notes the stubborn look on her face and doesnt have the fight in him to argue. He’s sore and tired and a soft couch doesn’t sound like the worst idea.
Something moving outside the front window caught her eye, “well well, speak of the devil”
The door opens, revealing Reenie with a bunch of shopping bags in her hands. She looks at the couch, feeling Colter looking at her.
“Ah, you’re awake.”
“I am. And now I’m going back to work.” He tries slowly this time to sit up, but the area still pulls and he winces, but doesn’t stop moving. Mak looks over at Reenie shaking her head.
“This guy is a terrible patient. Where on earth did you find him?”
“Oh I’m fully aware he doesn’t listen, I like to tell myself he thinks it’s part of his charm.”
Mak chuckles sardonically, “Oh yes, so charming when everything you say goes in one ear and out the other”
“I could-“ Colter cuts Reenie off, tired of them talking like he isn’t there.
“The bullet didn’t hit my ear, I can still hear you guys.”
Mak and Reenie turn to him, faces even, “we know.”
Colter pointedly looks at Reenie, “And talk about not listening, I told you I didn’t need help.”
“You passed out in my passenger seat. I figured you would enjoy this more than the hospital.”
He looks around the room, “Where even are we right now?”
“Maks place.”
Mak smiles and holds her arms out, “welcome to Chez Jones. We hope the accommodations have been to your liking.”
Reenie chuckles, grabbing the bags again and heading toward the kitchen, “I’m going to go put these away.”
Mak nods, and then heads over to colter, crouching in front of him.
“I know you’re stubborn and don’t feel like listening to someone you don’t even know, but seriously, you need to lie down and rest.”
He looks at her, noting how bright blue her eyes are. After staring for a second too long, he sighs.
“Fine, but only because you asked so nicely.”
She smirks at him and moves to help him lower his upper body down onto the couch. “I don’t usually, side effect of working the ER.”
He looks up at her, “getting special treatment, am I?”
Her eyes dart to his face quickly, then back to the pillow she’s adjusting under his side, “what can I say? I’m a sucker for tall and handsome.”
A small smirk appeared on his face, Reenie walked back in the room with a sandwich on a plate.
“Thought you might need some food to kick start the healing process, and maybe if you’re eating you won’t be annoying Mak.”
They glanced at each other quickly, this time the smirk showing on her face, and then she turned back to Reenie.
“I’d also say we should let him rest, but I have a feeling if left alone he’s going to get some wild idea he wants to run a marathon or something…”
Reenie laughed, “yep, sounds like Colter,” she looked over at Mak, “go, get on with your day, I’ll stay and keep an eye on him. That is if it’s okay if we invade your space for a little longer.”
Mak shrugged, “of course, stay as long as you need. Kinda nice to have some excitement around here again.”
Colter chuckled from the couch, “glad I could help.”
Reenie held a hand up, “just don’t go around getting shot all the time, that’s too much excitement for anyone.”
Mak chuckled at her friends annoyance, “I’m going to run out and do a few errands, I’ll be back. If you’re not here when I get back, I’ll know you’re out on a marathon.”
The door closed behind Mak and Reenie plunked herself down in a chair, looking at Colter.
“I know you said you didn’t need help, but I like to think I was right in this case.”
He swallowed the bite of sandwich, “very few times I will admit it, but you were right.” He looked around the house taking everything in, very minimal stuff around the living area, a few pictures on the wall, not much to give anything away. “So, will we be disturbing anyone else if we stay here a little longer?”
Reenie looked up from her phone, her eyebrow raised slightly, “no, just Mak.”
He nodded and settled back into the couch, taking another bite of sandwich, “good.”
She set her phone down in her lap and leaned forward, giving him a look, “be careful. She’s been through a lot. I’m not telling you no, I’m just telling you,” she sits back into the chair, “be nice.”
He gave her a look, “I’m always nice.”
She chuckled sardonically, “I mean long term nice. That one you have issues with.”
“Hazard of the job, unfortunately.”
“Exactly.” She picked up her phone again, “now get some rest, will you?”
Don't mind me. Just re-reblogging this story because it's so sad that the Tracker fandom is so small. Your writing skills are amazing 🩷

Not sure why everyone is hyping you up.. You are the most average looking white woman. Miles, Glen and Lewis wouldn’t look at you twice.
You’re not wrong 😂 hell, I’d be happy if they looked at me once 🤷🏻♀️
Nonnie probably needs a hug 🤗 that's what we should do - hype each other up, support each other, show some love, appreciation, and respect ❤️
I guess some people will never feel the full joy and happiness of actually being able to do that 😌

Jake was standing across from you, arms crossed and his stupid, cocky smirk in place.
But he wasn’t alone. A woman stood beside him.
Tall, brunette, devastatingly beautiful. She laughed, running a perfectly manicured hand along his arm, leaning into him like she belonged there.
You didn’t know her, but you knew one thing damn sure. You didn’t like her.
Poor Jake's going to be on edge around every new woman on base now! He'll just quit the Navy altogether if even a cook is named Gia!😂
Any woman in general 😂 imagine a Gia turns up at the Hard Deck 😂 but I would pay to see the reaction of Rooster and Phoenix. and thx for reblogging 🩷
I just wanted to say:
