I laid out my Lucy Boston/ Patchwork of the crosses components to see how it is coming. This is not the final block layout, but I wanted to see how big it is and decide what needs to happen next.
The quilt top os getting bigger! I laid it out to pick color arrangements for the next three blocks. I am going on a trip, and I want some hand sewing to take with me!
I am now in possession of a totally normal amount of black out curtain lining.
Sewing together the fabric for the exterior of the curtains. I have created an 8ā x 27ā panel, that I am going to cut into three 9ā panels. Just working on french seaming the center seam.
I feel like I am making a sail. Perhaps I will consider a life of piracy if I get sick of making these curtains.

I made this skirt to throw on over dance clothes on the way to and from class. I like the fabric and it was on clearance.
I had planned on making the top tier shorter, and part of me wishes I had, but probably not enough to tear it apart.
It is all finished with french seams and has pockets that would need to be removed and repositioned.
Not pictured is the back of the waist band which is gathered with elastic, so it is very comfortable.
I have a beetle broach I look forward to wearing with this skirt this summer, probably with a white button down tied at the waist.

Todayās project: tea dying 27 yards of cotton canvas to be made into curtains for my back room.
I did some test swatches last week.
And today I emptied out my fabric storage totes to dye the fabric in and made some super concentrated tea.
I let the tea steep for 30 minutes, and then added it to some water I had already put in one of the totes so as to not melt it.
I wet the fabric in some vinegar water, and then let it sit in the tea for an hour.
Then I put it in my washing machine on a rinse and spin cycle and dried it on hot.
Now I am repeating the process twice more because the 27 yards came on three bolts, and I donāt want to crowed the fabric in the dye bath. I am starting with fresh tea for each batch, hoping that keeping all factors as similar as possible will result in minimal color variation across the three lengths of fabric.
The color match is good!!! There may be some very subtle variation, but not more than I would expect from different bolts of industrial dyed fabric.
I am pleased!!!

I made a little jacket to go with the pants, which are currently in the wash, so I canāt photograph them together.

I made a lilly top from Hubba Ding out of red linen I had leftover from making these red pants (ignore the wrinkles please. It is 9pm and I am not ironing pants for photos). Paired together they look a bit like 1930s beach pajamas.
I kind of want to make another one in white. It was an easy pattern and I am pleased with the results.
I up-cycled the stuffing from four dead pillow forms into two new ones. Then I made washable covers for them.

I finished the Ginkgo Pinafore by Madswick! I made it as a work-from-home garment to replace putting my robe on over my clothes for warmth.
I found this very soft organic corduroy on clearance. The final product is a bit twee, and I probably should have made it one size smaller. But, it does keep me warm and is very comfortable!
I would love to do a quilted cotton velveteen version in the future, maybe with a half skirt rather than a gathered one to address the potential bulk at the waist.
I am supposed to be doing many other things. Instead I am crawling around on the floor cutting out a new project.
In my defense, I *need* this corduroy pinafore dress for reasons. Layering reasons. It is actually vital for my survival of midwest winters. I might die without it.
I finished the quilt! I finished it Christmas eve morning with just enough time to wash it and photograph it in the brief daylight.
I gave it to dad this afternoon, along with some new light blue sheets to go with it.
I donāt have real sewing clips, so I pull binder clips out of my desk when I am sewing down the binding on quilts.
This little smiley face one os making me happy.
