All I want is to see Tom as Morpheus without the coat on and just jeans and a fitted t-shirt and clunky black boots…
Exposing racists and homophobes in the reviews:
The Sandman 🤝 Interview with the Vampire (2022)
Morpheus doesn’t really think things through does he…he just kinda…does it. No thought behind those eyes.
Morpheus’s Priorities:
Wear all black.
Feed the pigeons.
Be wet cat.
Brood.
Morpheus ordering Matthew to return to the Dreaming when he felt he was losing at Lucifer’s game because, he feared Lucienne would be left in the dark, again, as to his whereabouts. Also, can’t imagine how he was feeling at the prospect of being trapped again so soon.
The fact that Jessamy waited 10 years for Morpheus, plotting a way to make it inside and try in any way to aid his escape whilst not returning even once to the dreaming to inform them of his capture, in fear she’d miss an opening. No wonder Morpheus didn’t want another raven, she had tried to the bitter end to save her master.
Gaiman keeping Tom on a shortlist for 8 months, auditioning close to another 1600 actors to play Morpheus, all the while knowing that Tom was perfect as Morpheus from his first audition which also happened to be in the first 10 they saw. It certainly was meant to be.
Love the theme of Morpheus showing mercy towards characters in the show. First, with John Dee, he recognised that it wasn’t entirely his fault that he did what he did. Then, to Fiddler’s Green to whom he could not punish his leaving. And Lastly, to Gault who he realised had just wanted to bring happiness rather than despair to humanity. It’s a stark contrast to his unrelenting punishment of Alex Burgess, Richard Madoc and The Corinthian for inflicting harm upon both himself and humanity.
I forgot to add that Morpheus also spared the punishment of Alex’s partner because, he’d seen but, clearly ignored the breaking of the summoning circle. I feel like if Alex hadn’t murdered Jessamy, he may have spared him also.
Had some fun making these!

I like how the artist who drew this interpretation actually made the characters look related with similar features and bone structure. Especially Death, Desire and Delirium.
Tom Sturridge, as Morpheus, proving that he can pull of; medium length, long, slicked back, cropped, fwoofy plus victorian era hair and rock every outfit during each era.
Knife wielding men with blonde hair, dark glasses, always in a suit and both uncomfortably good at killing;
Kento Nanami 🤝 The Corinthian
Fiddler’s Green is so innocent that despite walking into multiple, very questionable, panels at the Cereal Convention, it took him a while (and after seeing the corinthian) to realise that something was amiss. And the fact that he also went into the women’s panel is so cute.
It seems that Morpheus may be opposed to taking a life. He spared the lives of John Dee, Alex Burgess and Richard Madoc despite being wronged by them. He then, explored alternative options rather than simply eliminate Rose Walker and he truly struggled when re-absorbing both The Corinthian and Gregory.
This shot right here was what solidified, for me, the feeling that Dream was this unearthly, primordial being. The way his body is contorted and the particular angle of the camera, just make him look inhuman. The visible sinew of his shoulder and collarbone further add to this. I also absolutely adore the reference to “Fallen Angel” by Alexandre Cabanel.
Morpheus’s hell outfit was purely for aesthetic purposes. How’s leather and a full skirt going to protect him from the hordes of hell? He just wanted to look sexy and serve cunt in front of Lucifer, the fashion icon.
