House Pride

For me, the pride that the students of Hogwarts have towards their houses is the best part of the house system. That pride creates such strong identities and communities for them during their time at the school. There is just a beautiful amount of pride associated with being in a house.

I would happily be in any of the four houses - literally all I want is to be able to proudly say with 100% certainty: “I’m a ____”…

• I want to be able to experience that major sense of pride/loyalty that a student feels towards their house. • I want to be able to walk around and proudly wear my house colours, feeling like I truly belong. • I want to be able to go and support my house during quidditch matches and proudly cheer for my team. • I want to be able to sit in my house common room surrounded by my friends, who are so similar to me and unconditionally accept me. • I want to spend my time eating at my houses’ table in the great hall, enjoying being surrounded by those dear to me. • I want to share a dorm with my fellow housemates and best friends; my school experience feeling like a giant 7 year long sleepover. • I want to be able to experience the competition between the houses throughout the year as we compete for the house cup- feeling pride whether we win, or even if we come last and can say we tried our best. • I want to be part of a “house family”; a family who I can spend the entirety of my days with and never tire of.

Therefore, the fact that I will never truly know what house I belong in kills me.
