Behold: The People You Trust To Keep Quackity Accountable To Not Do Any More Workplace Exploitation. 👏👏👏 (x)
The tweet has 3k+ likes, btw. QSMP2 fandom's leftism leaving its body when the topic of labour rights comes up etc
Quackity recently went to the World Cup finals with a group of friends who all like Adin Ross and even posted photos about him at the game. Quackity started following Adin’s private chef but shortly unfollowed after seeing people call it out. He then went live but banned the phrase “Adin Ross” from his chat (https://x.com/limeade118/status/2079426753312006221) and didn’t even address it.
Also, yesterday someone went into the QSMP app and read their age verification terms, finding that they use Persona‘s service (https://x.com/bobonilson/status/2079401522211836052). For those who don’t know, Persona is currently being sued for selling private information to Palantir.
Another link in the replies about him hanging out with Adin Ross.
Research: Understanding MCYT Boundaries
SURVEY LINK
During my time in mcyt fandom, I've watched as the fandom's perception of creator boundaries has grown and shifted into a cornerstone of our fandom, and yet we don't actually have any good data on how the fandom as a whole perceives them outside of discourse posts.
The goal of this unofficial study NOT to make a value judgement on whether creator boundaries should be respected - it is to understand how the fandom currently perceives and interacts with them.* Is respecting creator boundaries important to you? Has your favorite creator made a boundary list or spoken about it on stream? Do you find some boundaries acceptable and others not? Have you ever been the target of hate for engaging with boundary-breaking content? Whether you think boundaries should always be respected or you think they're being used as tools of censorship, I want to hear from you. What are boundaries, and why do they matter so much to us?
—
This survey is a mix of multiple choice and optional long-response questions. It should take about 15 minutes if you’re only doing the required questions, and much longer if you choose to answer the optional questions.**
If you are able, please reblog and share this survey link around. Feel free to post it on any platform, as I am currently only on Tumblr, which is not representative of the fandom as a whole. In fact, I’d love it if it reached Twitter. The more responses, the more accurate the results will be for the whole of mcyt.*** Anyone in mcyt spaces, including creators, are welcome to take the survey to share their thoughts. However, I ask that for the comfort of content creators and the spirit of good fandom etiquete, please do not directly share the survey with any creator or post the link in any creators’ official communities. Thoughtful discussion is always valued over reactionary comments.
The survey is set to close at 11:59pm EST on August 1, 2026 - I may extend this date if there is still a high volume of responses coming in, or if there aren’t enough responses yet for meaningful data. I will aim to publish the results within a month of the survey’s close, and keep you updated on the timeline if that’s not feasible for any reason.
A huge thank you to everyone who helped beta this survey- you all gave such wonderful suggestions! I wish I could’ve kept every question, but in the end a lot needed to be cut to make this manageable. Please know that I appreciate every one of you, as this survey would not exist today without you.

* Why I think this data is important to collect: The idea for this survey came to me almost a year ago, and I started developing it around February of this year. I’ve spoken with dozens of people about this topic with diverse opinions, read and catalogued hundreds of tumblr posts, rewatched streams and videos by creators and fans, and watched as opinions have shifted across fandoms in real time. I feel extremely confident in saying that every person on every side cares deeply about respecting others and creating safe, welcoming communities in all mcyt spaces. Where they differ is on how to show that respect, which kinds of expectations they think are reasonable in different spaces, and beliefs on how those in power should be using their influence. I don’t expect this survey’s results to fundamentally change anything - this debate has been going on longer than mcyt has existed. But I think it’s still important to analyze the actual arguments people are making and how they affect our communities, instead of focusing on expected behavior from others based on our own values, so we can see the varying expressions of humanity in each other and work towards a better future for our fandom. I don’t think we’re as different as the discourse may have us believe.
** This survey is designed to encourage all participants to think critically about their position and the effects it has. I am aware that I have my own personal biases, so I have taken steps to ensure that the survey is as bipartisan as possible and also gives participants the opportunity to explain their answers for every question if they feel the need. Because of this, there may be questions that make some participants uncomfortable. While I would appreciate knowing why a question has made someone uncomfortable, participants are always free to skip such long-response questions.
*** I’m well aware that any recent discourse on this topic may skew results if arguments on one side are more successful than another in convincing fans of a particular position. I still think the data will be valuable even with a potential skew.
i will say that while the subject of creator's endorsing harassment and witch hunts is important, it sucks that the issues of racism in the qsmp never got a fraction of this sort of attention. i wonder why.
can anyone point me towards to source of pyro stating that he still intends to engage in flirting and fake rp relationships?
i've seen this said a couple times and i want to make sure i have the exact wording correct here because if that's true, it's messed up considering everything that he's said and done in the past couple days.
checking the pyroscythe tag and seeing people receiving threats is exactly the sort of thing i expected.
even if you don't mean it, even if you're against harassment, the sort of language pyro used will absolutely encourage harassment. people want an acceptable target and they've been given one and they can hide behind 'protecting boundaries' to do so.
Harassment that *has* already happened by the way. This is not a new thing to MCYT, and many of us are veterans who know how these things typically go, which is why it has been so baffling to me that pyro hasn't taken any of our warnings seriously, or as anything more than baseless hate and critique against his boundaries.
Unfortunately, that's not how the internet works, and people WILL be acting in any way they can to convince themselves that they're justified. And even if we weren't reading into his statements, "I have little birds in all forests" and "I will send my people after them" come across as threatening to *most* people.
Not to mention, every statement that has been sent clarifying "I really *don't* condone harassment, I promise guys" has been in his discord and not anywhere public, easily accessible, or seen. Not every fan is in that discord, nor do the people who are looking for an excuse to harass and send threats particularly care to scour every page and space of his to make sure they're not going against his wishes.
At the end of the day, even if he didn't mean to come across as threatening, which I'm sure he didn't cuz why would he, he still needs to publicly address the harm and harassment that has been going around. An announcement on a private discord isn't going to cut it.
I have no idea why he seems so defensive over his words and acts like everyone who interpreted them at face value (as *threats*) is insane and trying to purposely paint him in a bad light. This could have easily been resolved had he just come out and admitted "hey, that was a poor choice of words, here is what I actually meant" instead of sticking his head in the sand and making his mods and friends speak for him. I am frankly disappointed that he seems allergic to taking accountability for that poor word choice when fans have been getting very real threats and harassment. It's not even an issue of boundaries, but that he hasn't taken accountability for his words and instead continues to insist he really truly doesn't condone harassment without taking back his initial threatening message.
In fact, even Maddy has taken accountability for her poor word choice in her statement, even if it was a bit accusatory (sorry it was 'perceived' that way)
Is it so hard to acknowledge you said something you didn't mean in the heat of the moment? I really don't understand.
ccs in general are just people. i get the desire to create and all that but it’s incredibly reasonable to not want to shipped with coworkers.
i do agree that his wording wasn’t great but i generally don’t expect anyone, especially those with any kind of spotlight on them to be the most clear in their words. having any kind of popularity tends to cloud minds just in general.
pyroscythe is just some guy. he does laundry and goes grocery shopping like the rest of us. yes he has internet clout but he’s still just some guy
here's my question to you, anon.
do you hold this same viewpoint for all content creators? do you understand that all creators are people and sometimes misspeak? have you in the past, held the fire to or hated on a creator that's screwed up because you dislike them?
pyro is just a guy and one that i held decently positive feelings towards but his language was egregious and he doubled down on it. i think that's worth pointing out especially when i've already seen people get harassed over it.
that's why i've been focusing solely on that aspect and not my feelings on trying to police fandom in the first place.
ok, i went and found pyro's statement from discord and i have concerns.
first, we're starting right off the bat we have proof that what people were worried about is correct: people are already finding fans to out to pyro. so you are going to have this fandom become a panopticon where keeping track of your fellow fans to turn them in is normal. and i would hope i don't have to explain why this is a bad thing.
second, he didn't back down on the wording at all. even if he doesn't mean to cause harassment, that's exactly what's going to happen (see above). fans are basically being rewarded for turning other fans in and the threats that he made which sparked harassment already still stand.
the whole issue is that instead of taking a reasonable stance on the issue that people like cleo have done, he's creating an environment that sews distrust among fans. because of not understanding what a boundary is. it is absolutely more than fair to block people you come across who are making you uncomfortable. it's fine to ask people not to do something with the understanding that if they do, you'll block them.
it's just not ok to spur this kind of attitude in fandom spaces while also not doing anything to keep yourself away from things you dislike, like blacklisting and blocking certain tags.
checking the pyroscythe tag and seeing people receiving threats is exactly the sort of thing i expected.
even if you don't mean it, even if you're against harassment, the sort of language pyro used will absolutely encourage harassment. people want an acceptable target and they've been given one and they can hide behind 'protecting boundaries' to do so.
it's not related to QSMP but the situation with pyroscythe is a bit disturbing. you have a content creator saying, "I have my little birds in all forests. And if I hear about repeated offenses then I will send my people after them. And I will deal with that in ways I deem appropriate."
which is genuinely a disturbing thing to say. it's not even a boundary. a boundary is something for you, it's about what YOU will do when faced with something you don't like/are uncomfortable with. it would be 'if you tag me in shipping stuff or if i see it, i'll block you'. what pyro has is a rule. which i think is over-stepping but i'd be willing to overlook it until pyro literally endorsed harassment and implied some sort of punishment for people pyro deems offenders.
i'm sorry, if that was coming from anyone but a content creator, people would rightly say it's creepy and abusive. because it is. and the most disturbing part of it is you have fairly young fans saying that it should just be respected instead of being horrified about pyroscythe literally creating a panopticon out of fandom.

tommyinnit calling his girlfriend a "fling" and her and her family pigs for the way that they eat in their own home they invited him to (link in replies)
when I try to look up locs hair ideas for myself or ocs and see a white person I die inside
you CAN'T be doing that white baby, especially cuz we still aren't really allowed to wear our natural hair without open discrimination
white content creator on qsmp has locs so i guess we can add that to the list of things that should be addressed but probably won't be.
eta: i have no intention of explaining why this is an issue. you can seek out many articles written by black people explaining why white people wearing dreads or locs is a problem and how the "viking" angle isn't accurate either.
Reading through the QSMP Workplace Abuse Document compiled by @hopefghniki, as most of my knowledge came from the older documents and deep dives made in 2024 and the months after the admins going public, and I have to say; good *lord* its worse than I thought. I know a lot of people don't care enough to read through the whole thing when they already know the gist of it (in which case boooooo you (unless you don't support QSMP anyways cos you know it's bad in which case MWAH, i get it people are busy)) but I'm still seeing a lot of misconceptions, a lot of which come from the wording done by Quackity Studios in their clean up PR statements, + how Quackity and other CCs word it themselves. And thus, here's me breaking down some of the misconceptions I have seen, some of which I believed myself at the start:
(Please note, I'm not a professional or a journalist. This post is half regular person wording things for other regular people who were also regularly confused by corpo-speak and half me writing things down as it helps me remember it lmao)
Weren't staff just volunteers?
Yes! But also no. Basically they had this trial system before you got paid (yeah, red flags immediately, you get it now?) where for one week they did the work unpaid until they were either accepted and paid or weren't excepted and were fired. Volunteers, officially and on the "we're hiring!!!" things posted on twitter, only existed for that trial and were a temporary stage before employment. OR!!! That's what was *supposed* to happen, basically QSMP Studios staff kept making up excuses to extend that one week deadline, claiming stuff like "your behavior is strange, we're just gonna keep an extra eye on you for a while before we make a decision" and then it dragged on and on with people being stuck in the volunteer phase for months in some cases. which is unpaid labor. which is scummy af. think unpaid internships, but with even less safety nets in place.
Weren't the Staff paid and Volunteers unpaid, because well, they're just volunteers?
Ok so basically people had official jobs and what they were being paid for (at abysmally low rates, mind you) and then were also asked to do other not-their-job things, so "artist" staff and "person who did art for qsmp" are not the same thing, translators drew art unpaid, roleplayers did translating unpaid, etc etc. List of QSMP Staff/Volunteer wages: Paid Staff: 150€ (171 USD) per month - Keep in mind that the server was open and had people working on it pretty much 24/7 over a year, someone who was a paid staff member throughout almost the entirety of the servers runtime, a year, would have been paid 1800 euro ($2056 USD) for months of being on call pretty much 24/7 which surmounts to an hourly (on-call or working) rate of about 24 cents. These were the paid ones. Roleplayers/Actors: Unpaid Builders: $5 USD per hour Commission pay for art done by non-artist staff: Unpaid Developers (Unknown what is meant by "developers", could be backend, webdev, modding etc): Some were reported to have been paid as little as 1 Euro ($1 USD) per hour Twitter Account Admins: Unpaid Web Developer: Between $5-22 USD per hour Video Translation: $1 per minute of edited video, (The minumum wage per minute in my country is 5 times that btw, I was gonna give the USA one as an example but its abysmal, but they were paid less than that anyways so ugh) Video Translation done by non-translator staff: Unpaid 3D Modeling (Commission pricing examples from one Model Artist): Small model - ~5-10$ Player-size - ~15-20$ Large - ~30-60$ Unusual sizing - 60$+ Rush Fee - 15$+ This is lower than commercial pricing. Writing: $200-400 USD per month - writers were just as on-call 24/7 as other staff types, last minute changes happened frequently, needing changes a days or even hours before going live. Hourly rate calculates to about 40 cents per hour.
Staff were paid from Quackity's personal Paypal account, rather than an official business transaction. Paypal transaction fees were not covered by QSMP Studios / Quackity. (Side note, one (maybe more) of the QSMP actors were underage, and unpaid due to being an actor so yeah unpaid child labor.)
(Side side note, the "NDA" they had to sign was the first result of typing "NDA" into google lmao)
It's just minecraft, they're getting paid to pay minecraft, they're lucky!
Staff were uber overworked, on call 24/7, and made to do sooo many things outside of their official designated/paid jobs. The idea of an admin with a specific job is nebulous at best. That was what you were on paper, in reality admins did a bit of everything. Actors did art, writers did translation, builders did writing, it was all over the place. Remember the jokes about admins being online for 13+ hours a day? It was funny at the time, "they're being paid to play minecraft, wouldn't be online all the time?" In reality they had no choice.
The staff have been paid now!
I have seen zero evidence of this being the case, the closest Ive seen is a he-said-she-said of posts saying that Quackity told Philza and Tubbo who mentioned it on stream. I have seen zero clips of them saying this, but even if they have, it needs to come from Quackity.
All of this is proven with all the necessary quotes and citations and evidence in the document linked above. I am truly sorry to all of the victims of Quackity and Quackity Studios' abuse, you guys deserve the world, every happy memory I have from QSMP is all thanks to you and you deserve more than compensation for the work you did to make it great. ok yap over :P
Tags reading: "agree with most (of) the post, but i think if a claim of the staff being paid needs to be said by anyone its the staff who have said for months theyve been unpaid. I do not trust Quackity to be honest about paying all of the workers at this point. if he ever says that" Trueee ngl, i forgot about that. For a brief moment i existed in a world where Quackity was honest about this project of his, thanks for the correction nodding my head at you
It’s worse since some of them have said, currently (03/03/26) that they are still unpaid and unrecognized
We have, currently, people complaining that they never got paid
And strangely people still care more about what ccs have been told by the Guy who litterally said he « wasn’t in charge » than what they have been saying
serious workplace mismanagement, abuse & workers rights' violations are not "neg" or "discourse" they are unfixed issues that quackity and his gaggle of streamers have failed to adequately address or fix, in fact Quackity is going out of his way to AVOID doing so by handing *his* company off to *faceless individuals* to avoid being the one to take the fall or any responsibility at all for the project WITH HIS NAME ATTACHED TO IT, and i do think you are a disgusting person for being more concerned with your precious fandom content than the real world harm you are financially supporting by continuing to support QSMP2.
fuck all of you.
