6 Ways to Keep Your Customers Happy, And Coming Back For More
Keeping up with the times means adapting to ever-changing situations and circumstances. Becoming a key player in business involves knowing where the pitfalls exist and how to navigate around them. Ultimately you need to cater your services to fit the needs of your customer and here’s where being proactive rather than reactive can keep your customers satisfied and coming back to you time and time again. As an agency it is your responsibility to be on top of the market and completely versed in up and coming trends that reflect your particular niche area. A report from Agency Management Institute, cited that 50% of its respondents had indicated that they’d had the misfortune to fire an agency within the past two years. Taking this fact into account, it’s important to understand the reasons that prompt a business to go elsewhere. Knowing just what causes an agency to lose business can truly assist companies to design effective future game plans for success. Here are the top 6 reasons that cause agencies to lose customers: Reorganization or change in leadership; Budget issues; Poor management of expectations; Trust issues/chemistry problems; Lack of risk-taking; Push too hard for same-customer revenue. Now let’s zero on the solutions. When an organization changes ownership or leadership it must be viewed as an entirely new company and treated as such. You must seek to connect with the new executive management team as soon as possible. It’s prudent to schedule a meet and greet so that face to face relationships can be fostered. However, where this is not possible, a brief overview of your agency’s strategies to combat challenges will suffice. You want to make it extremely clear that your agency, above all else, has a grasp on the challenges facing the company. Provide a detailed manifesto outlining viable solutions for each and every obstacle. It’s important that the new management team see that you have already taken the time and effort to plan for the future. Make sure you heavily emphasize the role your agency played in each and every obstacle that had previously been overcome. The new management team must view your agency as an essential service going forward, so take every opportunity to play up your successes. Another word of advice. Strive to develop relationships with multiple team members within the executive class of management so that your breadth of connections runs deep and is not reliant on one individual. This will guarantee your company success in future reorganizations as you will continue to have more than one connection with which to depend.  Budget Issues Budget cuts can sometimes put your agency on the chopping block. A business relationship that ends this way is a tough case to crack. It leaves you feeling a bit stumped because at first glance it appears to be an element far beyond your control. However, if you factor this into your game plan then you can create protocols for the future that will have all respective clients understanding and appreciating your value from the get-go. Your inherent value must be established from the moment you walk through the door. It’s vital that you can show how your marketing activities are directly tied to the ROI of a company. Here’s where you consistently provide a detailed report on your metrics and employ regular meetings with upper management to foster a relationship of trust. Those in positions of power must make the correlation between your services and leads coming in, influenced sales and conversion rates.  To put it bluntly, they must see how you are helping them to make money.  Consistently employ these tactics effectively and you will find that companies will create a room within their budget to house your services regardless of cutbacks.  Poor Management of Expectations Set and manage expectations and ask the right questions. This is a fairly straightforward point. Your team must communicate and work effectively to meet the needs of the customer. Asking just the right questions helps you to get a handle on your client’s vision. While there may be creative differences, your client is your customer and to avoid disappointment, confusion, and frustration you must keep in mind that it’s their vision that truly counts. It is your job to keep the customer happy with the service they receive. Therefore, it’s essential that everyone be on the same page. Too often, missed deadlines and inefficient teamwork create a bad impression and your client is likely to go elsewhere. Word of mouth travels fast and disgruntled customers can often leave your company with a negative reputation. To sum it up, make sure you are consistently on top of your game with a solid team who communicates regularly, works diligently and listens to the needs of the customer. Agencies, who continue to respond in a timely fashion and consistently apply a high level of attention to the business they serve, remain employed and successful.  This is due to the fact that they truly understand the power of trust. Chemistry and trust go hand in hand towards building successful and strong client relationships. Building trust must be a top priority for agencies seeking to thrive in a highly competitive marketplace. Ultimately the sales process, which is built around case studies and testimonials, will lend itself to establishing meaningful and respectful connections. However, it’s not the only point of consideration. Trust must be the focal point of each and every business transaction. The process is fairly simple. You must communicate results in a transparent manner.  Be clear and precise as to further action steps as well as risks and roadblocks.  Establishing consistent and direct communication allows companies to develop respect for your integrity and honesty. They are looking to you to provide an accurate depiction of their situation.  Therefore, it’s essential that you don’t sugarcoat the problems but provide feasible long-term solutions. If you strive to respond in a quick and steady manner and use client feedback to motivate future changes, then you will keep your customer satisfied and your company in business. Failure to respond and give adequate attention was touted as the second most common reason for firing an agency according to Agency Management Institute’s Hiring and Firing Insights report. This fact only serves to underscore the importance of building and maintaining trust. It’s through your attention and responsiveness that you gain favor and amplify the success of your business.  Lack of Risk-Taking Risk-Taking is a Good Thing! Don’t be afraid to take a risk! Your agency is your business and in order to succeed you must push the envelope and try new things.  Forward thinkers, who step out of the box of what’s comfortable, are the ones making waves within the industry and attracting business. Mystery and intrigue give your agency perceived value as businesses will look to you for innovation and creativity. While there is a sense of familiarity in the ways of the past, there is a danger that your agency will be deemed predictable and your services will be rendered ineffective if the company sustains a loss. It’s important to stay on top of your game and keep your eye’s peeled for any signs of a client’s unhappiness. Even your best clients have a shelf life. To avoid stagnation watch carefully for signs of discomfort. Keeping things fresh and innovative will keep your clients engaged with your services. To avoid unnecessary hardship, ensure that your account managers are held responsible for the organic growth of a client’s account. It’s vital that they have a handle on all possible marketing growth opportunities and continually assess new prospects. The strength of your agency lies in the power you have to create opportunities for new business. Sometimes you must embark on a completely new and creative endeavor in order to meet the client’s needs. Don’t be scared to be uncomfortable!  Push Too Hard to Grow Same-Customer Revenue Building a strong following and maintaining a loyal customer base are completely different processes. Too often companies zero in on their current client roster with the hopes of creating more business opportunities. However, it’s important to have a handle on just what makes a successful strategy. Here it is crucial that you are familiar with the needs of each customer individually and make every effort to meet those needs as promptly as possible. It’s important to know when to push and when to pull back. Your customers appreciate when you are honest and straightforward but are not keen on being oversold. Only suggest products you KNOW your customer needs. Customers want their problems fixed. That’s what it comes down to. Good customer service focuses on providing solutions not referencing policies and procedures. Employees should use these policies as guidelines rather than rules. Giving your employees autonomy to make their own judgment calls in complaint-resolution gives them the freedom to tailor their responses and effectively handle customer complaints. Customer complaints are to be expected but it’s the means by which you address and respectfully manage these conflicts that truly matters. Strong companies have good customer relations and handle complaints with grace and ease. You want your customers to have a pleasant experience even during the complaint process. Your business depends on the relationships that have been established and fostered over the years. Often it is your employees who sell and maintain your business. Customers return time and time again because they have become accustomed to dealing with particular employees for certain facets of their business. These relationships are paramount because they continue to attract a huge amount of business on a consistent basis. It’s the personal touch that keeps your customers coming back. For this reason, you must value these connections and strive to maintain them to the best of your ability. Keep key players in positions of authority whether in sales positions or as customer service reps and don’t rotate staff too often. In this day and age, loyalty to a business is a rare commodity and it should be valued. Offering incentives and discounts to existing customers shows appreciation for their business and continued support. Often returning customers have frequented your business for years and validating their loyalty is a sign of respect. Using appropriate strategies will help you to maintain your customer base and instill loyalty in new customer to boot! Click to Post
How to Manage the CSF Firewall in WHM/cPanel
Should you discover (or suspect) that a client or customer’s IP address has been blocked in the firewall, or you just need to open (or close) a port on your cPanel server, you may be able to quickly resolve the issue yourself if you have access to WebHost Manager and the ConfigServer Firewall (CSF). If your server is using CSF, you will find its interface listed in WHM as ConfigServer Security&Firewallunder the Plugins section in the left menu. You also can begin typing “firewall” into the search box at the top left to narrow down the choices.
Unblocking an IP Address in CSF
To determine whether an IP address is blocked, you can use the Search for IP button on the ConfigServer Security&Firewall page. Simply enter the IP address into the search field and click the button.
If the IP address is blocked, the reason for the block will be listed and an unlocked padlock icon will appear to the right of the blocked IP address. Clicking the padlock icon will unblock the IP in the firewall.
Allowing (Whitelisting) an IP Address
It is important to note that there are two components to the csf firewall, the firewall itself and the Login Failure Daemon (lfd). To whitelist an IP address in the firewall (csf.allow), you can enter the IP address into the Quick Allowsection, along with an optional comment for the allow (such as “Office network”), and click the Quick Allow button.
When an IP address is whitelisted in CSF, it still can become blocked by lfd for abusive behavior such as multiple failed logins or repeated violation of certain modsecurity rules. This helps to mitigate the sort of brute-force attacks that could occur should a computer or device on the same network as a whitelisted IP address become compromised or infected with malware. It is recommended to whitelist IPs only as necessary and, for a long-term solution, focus on resolving the issue which led to the block (such as incorrect login credentials). However, as a temporary measure while troubleshooting or otherwise working to correct the underlying issue, you can prevent an IP address from being blocked by lfd by adding it to the ignore list (csf.ignore). That can be done using the Quick Ignore button on the ConfigServer Security&Firewall page.
Blocked IP? Don’t Forget to Check cPHulk
WebHost Manager also includes the cPHulk Brute Force Protection module which, like the Login Failure Daemon component of the ConfigServer firewall, can block IP addresses (independently of the firewall) when they have repeated failed login attempts. If you’re trying to unblock an IP address but no block is to be found in the firewall, you will want to check cPHulk as well. In WHM, you’ll find cPHulk Brute Force Protection listed under the Security Center section of the left menu. On cPHulk’s History Reports tab, you can search for failed logins, blocked users, blocked IP addresses, or one-day blocks. Removing a block is as easy as clicking the Remove Blocks and Clear Reports button.
You also can whitelist IP addresses, with an optional comment, under the Whitelist Management tab. Please be aware that whitelisting an IP address here means that the IP address always will be able to attempt to log into the server. That could potentially present a security risk in the event that a computer or device on the same local network as the whitelisted IP becomes compromised or infected and uses brute force to try to gain protected access. For this reason, IP address whitelisting in cPHulk should be used sparingly and with caution.
Opening and Closing Ports in the Firewall
On the ConfigServer Security & Firewall page in WebHost Manager, click on the Firewall Configuration button to enter advanced settings. On the Firewall Configuration screen, scroll down to the IPv4 Port Settings section, and locate the Allow incoming TCP ports and Allow outgoing TCP ports sections.
You will need to add the necessary port to the appropriate list (or remove a listed port to block it), then scroll all the way to the bottom of the page and click the Change button to save your settings and restart the firewall. Â Click to Post

Driving sales without leads: Here are Upselling and Cross selling tips.
Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all. – Dale Carnegie Same is the case with sales. Any successful salesperson will vouch for the fact that success comes in sales to only those who are excited to work hard and sell even when there’s no hope- or no leads, to be precise. It is usually the case that you don’t get enough pre-qualified leads to achieve your targets- the Marketing, Social Media, and the SEO can only get you to a certain point, but after that, it is up to the qualities of sales person that determine how many sales would be generated. Here are some of our tips and tricks on how to generate sales and enhance revenue without prequalified leads so that you don’t have to sit waiting for leads.  Analyze early to switch to Plan B timely It is wise to analyze things in the beginning of the month. When you timely see that leads are not coming your way, then you have enough time to switch to Plan B- which can include some quick selling, tempting offers like: Enhancing your product offerings by improving on the configurations and adding new services or bundling, so that more customer can get attracted to them. If possible, make your solutions cheaper with additional discounts, so that you are in a position to offer something that the customer cannot refuse. It also helps at the time of upsell. Go for your existing customers – the bird in your hand Your existing customer base is your best shot when leads are not coming your way. Turn to loyal customers and those organizations with whom you had dealings in the past. If you have built a good relationship with them, then you can approach them for upselling some of your services. I usually follow this order: a. Regular Buyers or Premium Customers Every organization has a certain section of high buyers or premium customers. As they have been with you all along, they easily get interested, are easier to pitch and get convinced for new products, thus it is wiser to approach them first. And lastly, since they are high paying customers, if you are able to convince them for new solutions, revenue is normally higher. b. Customers with Less No. of Services Identify those customers who have taken at least some services with you. They can be valuable leads as they are aware of your services and you do not have to create the first impression. Many customers would like to enhance their services with time and if you pitch them the right offer of their need at a good price, then it is easier to get them convinced. These are perfect customers to upgrade to higher solutions. c. Pitching Add-ons Ok! So if your regular products are not ringing that well with a customer, then pitch add-ons, licenses, and customizations, services and products through inbound marketing tips and tricks. Usually every customer requires information about additional security, customization, SQL licenses etc. d. New offerings to existing customers In a solution industry, the best part about sales is that the requirement of the customer always increases with time. If you work as a consultant and garner trust of the customer, then with time, you can turn small customers into premium customers. It is a basic trend in that a customer leverages solutions of various companies for multiple needs. If a sales guy generates enough trust in him, then he can consolidate the solutions used or required by the customers’ under one single provider and ensure good sales. e. Inactive Customers Finally, if nothing else produces results, then turn to your inactive customers, reinitiate discussions with them and point out what they are missing through emails. Provide them information about the new offers that are there, improvements in technology and new solutions you are offering. Learn how to get successful with right email marketing tips.  Less is more – use what you have When the number of incoming leads reduces, put extreme emphasis on what you’ve got. Initiate ruthless strategies to close whatever leads you have. Try to increase the lead vs closure %. Take extensive follow-ups on existing leads. Be aggressive on emails and offer reduced prices, including other add-on benefits. Focus on closing the deal at higher billing cycles. Work as a consultant and a problem solver and recommend a comprehensive solution for every requirement of the customer. Work in coordination with marketing team on acquiring sales leads and driving revenue. Word of mouth – ask for referrals Over the years, an experienced sales person builds solid relationships. Utilize them at this time and ask for referrals from them. Discuss with your customers whether they can use their sources to loop you in discussions with some other potential customers. If even 10% of your customers refer you, there’ll be enough leads to tide over the lean phase.  Keep track of everything- use lost leads Most sales guys don’t keep track of the leads that due to some reason in the past, they were unable to close. Lost leads are your valuable resource too as maybe with time the priorities of the customer has shifted and new requirements have emerged, maybe your product offering is now more suitable and in sync with their current requirements. Give them a call and see if you can turn in some of them.  The basics- Use raw customer database Every experienced sales person maintains information about customers, like business cards of companies – a salesman’s priceless possession. In the lean phase- lead wise, flip through that untouched raw data of contacts and identify potential prospects and start calling, fix meetings and hopefully, you’ll get leads.  Cold calling – the traditional way   Pick the phone and start calling on contact information collected from search engines and websites. This is normally anyone’s last resort, but is the traditionally trusted way of generating the leads. Fix meetings and try to get in touch with the right person and be prepared for making the best first impression. If you keep doing follow-ups rightly, you will generate good sales and acquire new customers in the process. Utilize your company’s brand image when contacting a new customer. Leverage the knowledge if you have sold services to a customer of the same industry type- take their references to generate credibility.  Go for quality rather than quantity The biggest fault a sales person can have is pessimism. Having lesser leads is surely an uncomfortable situation to be in but identifying the quality leads and then putting your best on them to close bigger amounts in a single shot can easily take you out of this situation. In the end, all that matters is the revenue you bring in and how many quality customers you have. If you have any feedback regarding this write-up, let me know through comments.   Click to Post

How to Be A Web Hosting Reseller?
Web hosting is arguably the only bubble that never popped, never experienced a downturn, and continues to thrive even in a challenging economy around the world. That’s because the internet has yet to reach every nook and corner of the world. And with time, as it spreads to yet significantly untouched portion of the world; demand for web hosting and domain name registration services is bound to increase. This presents a lucrative business opportunity for everyone- database programmers, web copywriters, graphic designers, internet marketing consultants, website designers and even those who’re not acquainted with the arena of internet. For these individuals, reseller hosting is a potential inextinguishable money maker. And since you’ve landed on this page, chances are, you too are interested in getting your hands wet soon.  What is Reseller Hosting? Reseller Hosting, in its essence is same as any retailing business – it is the middle man of website hosting industry. The reseller purchases the hosting facilities (bandwidth/CPU power/hard disk space/software/) themselves from a web hosting giant at cheaper rates and then sell them at higher retail rates. Also, it requires very low investment and almost no requirement of technical knowledge, resources and hardware installation. All one needs is a genuine/trustworthy provider, intelligent plans and a professional website to diversify his income stream and bring home set income on a regular basis. Here’s an example: let’s say that you purchase a reseller account for a flat fee of $50 per month from a web hosting giant. Let’s also say that you currently have twenty customers who’d pay you to host their website. Here’s a foreshadowing of your earnings each month if you charged: • $10per month: 20 customers x $10 = $200 per month – $50 for the reseller account = $150 profit each month. • $20 per month: 20 customers x $20 = $400 per month – $50 for the reseller account = $350 profit each month. • $40 per month: 20 customers x $40 = $800 per month – $50 for the reseller account = $750 profit each month. And this is just a tip of the iceberg if you’ve, say, 100 customers instead of just 20 (in which case you’ll have to spend more on the hosting plan, depending on your clients’ traffic) and combine your web hosting offer with other products and/or services, such as website design/developments, web solutions or business consulting. In fact, this is how most of the reseller hosts set themselves apart from standard big hosts- by offering alternate services that complement web hosting.  Reseller Hosting Sounds like something I want to try. How do I start? Web hosting companies that offer reseller hosting make it extremely easy. You can do this by following these easy steps: • Consider how many customers you think you can get added to your new company immediately. This will determine the package you will need. • Determine the types and size of packages you will offer your customer. • Determine the price you will sell your packages at or if you will use the hosting as a value added service to a related service. • Compare reseller hosting plans to determine which ones will best suit your needs and your budget. • Sign up for the reseller package that best suits your needs with your preferred server provider. • Follow the instructions provided to you by the parent host to set up each of your packages that you will offer your customers. • Build your website to announce your web hosting reseller business. Website owners will sign up for your services and pay you through your website. • Optimize your website so that it will stand out among the thousands of other hosting company websites. This includes submitting your website to directories, using keywords and search engine optimization (SEO), advertising, and social networking. If your website is popular and visible to Internet users, you may be able to build a greater customer base. After this, begin marketing your new business and sign up customers. • Support your new customers and watch your business grow.  How do I choose a good reseller hosting provider? Here are some important consideration factors when you are searching for the right reseller hosting provider. Reliability: The quality of your provider’s servers is directly proportional to your reputation in the market. Make sure that you pick up a reseller hosting provider that has a strong uptime record, has existed for more than a month and shows no signs of folding their tents in the near future. Customer Support: The rate at which your client base grows is directly proportional to the chances of your customer services being screwed up. A dedicated team of technical support to respond to your requests is a must. Web Hosting Features: No rocket science here, just simple facts. Basic hosting features like bandwidth and disk space directly affect a number of accounts you can create and sell. More allocated bandwidth = more profit. Scalability: When you start reselling hosting services, it is advisable that you pay only for a few domains and provide a modest range of applications. But years down the line ,as your client base expands, the number of sites you service will increase. Make sure that you choose a host that provides a hassle-free way to upgrade from a shared server arrangement to a dedicated server.  Wrapping Things Up With the aforementioned considerations fully kept in mind, it’s time to find a reseller hosting plan that makes fiscal sense and offers a great opportunity for both profits and professional development. The hosting industry has reached its adolescent stage and is growing quickly, and so are the opportunities for advancement. So get out there and make a splash among web hosts. Click to Post

Ensure security of your online transactions!
Cash or currency is the easiest and most practiced form of exchange from time immemorial. But the demonetization wave in India has triggered a surge in e-transactions or going cashless. Now-a-days, most of us are aware of e-transactions and many of us use them in various forms, like net banking; selling and buying from eCommerce sites; buying travel tickets – airline, train, bus and even booking cabs online or via apps; doing online transactions – to make payment for electricity, water, telephone bill, prepaid phone recharge; using credit or debit cards; and more. On an average, a normal Indian does e-transaction at least once a week. Out of those mentioned above, net banking, debit cards / ATM cards, travel cards, e-wallets, Unified Payment Interface etc. are the cashless and authorized e-payment systems available in the country. According to World Payments Report, immediate payments have the potential to replace cheques and cash. Now in the run for cashless economy, this dependence on the internet for monetary transactions is bound to increase each day as digital payments provide a number of benefits, including but not limited to: Making operations immediate, convenient, faster, available and secure (if best practices are adopted). Curbing the use of cash transactions as a means of tax evasion, leading to tax collection being used for the benefit of the country’s development. Increasing consumers’ ability to be more aware and gather information about products and prices. Now, we’ll discuss the best practices mentioned above, in detail. Myth: Internet-based transactions or online transactions are unsafe because of cyber and security attacks. Truth: There are a number of reasons why security vulnerabilities arise in online payment systems. Secure coding, updating software timely, and increasing awareness about the security of online transactions among customers can bring about the much-needed change. Here are some tips or best practices that will ensure your online payment security and will help you keep the risks to a minimum:  1. Protect your computer against threats. Get and install antivirus, anti- malware and antispyware programs from a trusted and reputable source and create a line of defense for your computer. Regularly install updates for your software as cybercriminals are endlessly inventive in their efforts to exploit vulnerabilities in it, but the software companies work tirelessly to combat these threats. Don’t forget to uninstall software that you don’t use! Put a protective barrier between your PC and the internet- the firewall and never turn it off as it increases the risk of malware infection to your PC. Avoid putting unknown flash drives to your computer, and use them cautiously. 2. Use strong passwords and if possible use OTP during transactions. Use strong and different passwords for different sites and always keep them secret. Also, create strong passwords for the router and the wireless key of your wireless connection at home. Make use of OTP for the security of online transactions as it lasts for only one session/ transaction and is considered the safest as it’s received by the user on his registered mobile number. Also, using a 3D secure PIN on a public WiFi can be risky, so pay through an OTP.  3. Ensure the use of Virtual Private Network. A Virtual Private Network (VPN) keeps your online information safe. Use of VPN increases your transactions’ privacy and security as VPN security model ensures confidentiality with sender authentication and message integrity by using encryption techniques and tunneling protocols. So, you can add a VPN on your smartphone or your WiFi network at home. For a smartphone, you will have to download and install a VPN app and secure your web browsing session.  4. Look for the signs that show that your information is safe. Before you enter sensitive data, like your credit card details on a webpage, ensure that: The site uses SSL certificate that makes sure that all the communication between your browser and the website is encrypted. Signs of encryption include a green web address with https (“s” stands for secure) and a closed padlock in the lower left corner of the window) as shown below. Make sure to notice that the link address starts with https instead of http or www.  5. Use hardware level security. Ensure security of payment processing on mobile phones also. As per Qualcomm – the chipset makers, the wallets and the mobile banking applications in India are not using hardware level security which can make online transactions more secure. They will soon come up with mobile chipsets that will verify user with PG via unique features such as phone’s Android version, device id, OS root kit etc, which cannot be duplicated easily. When the need arises, developments take place. Such more developments that will ensure the security of your online transactions are bound to come. At present, internet transactions are only as vulnerable as the cash transactions. Just like you take care to protect your cash from thieves, you also need to take care that you do secure online payments and follow the steps above. Six Low-Cost Ways to Increase Traffic to Your Website.
One of the easiest ways to attract new business is getting more visitors to your website. Increasing traffic to your website can be the most cost-effective way to increase your sales, which means you need a solid strategy for growing your online audience. In that spirit, I wanted to explain some of the best ways to drive traffic to your website. For those of you who’ve been in business for a while, you may know several of these options, but even experienced online entrepreneurs can learn how to optimize these promotional techniques. We’re going to break your options down into two categories — free and paid — and give you some of the pros and cons of each.  Evergreen Content. Creating and posting evergreen content helps you establish your authority in a particular subject, which is critical for attracting new customers. Blogging not only keeps your website fresh for visitors but every page you add to your site helps increase your visibility on Google. To further help your SEO, you should be embedding links and keywords specific to your industry in all of your content. A word of warning: Many businesses go too far with keywords, serving up content that’s nothing more than marketing jargon. That’s an easy way to turn off visitors.  Social Media. It’s pretty obvious that many small businesses now use social media to help drive traffic to their websites, with many businesses using Facebook as their channel of choice. While organic social growth doesn’t necessarily require money, it does take time and patience. When using social media to drive traffic, make sure you keep a consistent posting schedule and share content from other pages as well as your own. Too many small businesses refuse to share any info that doesn’t directly relate to their business.  Guest Posting. In addition to creating evergreen content for your own site, take the time to write for someone else’s. This can give you a large sudden boost in traffic (since you’re tapping into an entirely new audience) but can require lots of work to set up. You’ll need to network with and earn the trust of the outlet you’re trying to write for. If you’re just looking for another place to post content, many businesses choose Medium.com, which is easy to write for but can leave your content buried. Creating a relationship with someone in your field and guest writing for his or her audience is much more fruitful.
Three Paid Ways to Increase Traffic to Your Website.
Paid Ads. If you’re looking to generate traffic as quickly as possible, paid ads can be a great option. Generating organic traffic can take weeks or months, whereas paid ads, if done correctly, can create an immediate influx of visitors. That said, there are a few pieces of advice to keep in mind. For example, you should never pay for banner ads. Banner ads have a notoriously low rate of return, and most people only click on them by accident at this point. For small businesses, Facebook advertising is the best place to get an easy return on investment. Or try an email newsletter directed to an audience that closely matches your customer base. Both of these options will allow you to easily measure results and adjust your ads on the fly. If you want to dip your toe into social media ads, see if you can get some free ad coupons to start and avoid paying money for your early mistakes.  Press Releases. Distributing press releases can help you build brand awareness and generate traffic to your site, since they are still widely used by news outlets looking for stories to cover. If done correctly, your press release can be picked up by multiple outlets, which means more eyes on your business and your content. In addition to attracting visitors, your release may also lead to contact with a  reporter or two, which can certainly help with marketing down the line. Depending on the distribution service you use, your press release can be sent to vastly different outlets. While the distributed press release may not have much SEO value, it does generate great exposure for your story.  Affiliate Programs. An affiliate program is a deal between a marketer and a content publisher and is sometimes referred to as “performance marketing.” Why? Because you can set the terms of engagement, paying the publisher who is promoting your content based on the number of clicks or sales he or she sends your way. Usually, these are partnerships are set up through a network, such as CJ Affiliate or the Google Affiliate network. The network will help ensure your promotions get in front of an interested audience, but you should vet the options thoroughly to see if they’re a good match for your business. By using a combination of these marketing techniques, you can begin to drive more traffic to your website. So go ahead. See which options work best for your business and run with it. Click to Post
5 Fundamental Ways to Improve the Speed of Your Website.
The speed and performance of your website is more important today than ever before. Users’ expectations have grown and their patience has decreased. If a website loads too slowly, users will quickly move on to another site rather than waiting for another second or two. Even if users do not run away, a slow site will leave them disappointed, frustrated, and likely to abandon your site even in the midst of shopping. Furthermore, Google has clearly stated that the speed of a site will affect a site’s ranking in the search results. So in order to keep both your users and Google happy, it is important to pay attention to site speed. While the title of this blog post might imply that optimizing the speed of your website is simple, that is not really the case. Instead, what I want to do in this post is share with you five of the most effective things you can do to speed up your site.  1. Use a Good Web Hosting Plan. It really all starts with choosing the right hosting plan with the right hosting company. Even before talking about speed, you must have a reliable company with solid and reliable hardware to host your website. If your site is unreliable, it doesn’t matter how fast it performs. Visitors will run away and never come back. Do your homework and check out user reviews for hosting companies. Getting back to speed up your website, most hosting companies, such as Server9host, offer a range of hosting plans, starting with inexpensive shared hosting and moving up through virtual servers, dedicated servers, and cloud servers. The prices increase as you move up through the different types of hosting, but the number of resources dedicated to your website also increase. While it is OK, to begin with shared hosting when you are just starting your site, be sure to regularly track your traffic volume and resource usage so that you can upgrade to a better hosting plan before visitors start noticing your site being sluggish.  2. Enable Caching. Simply put, caching is the technical term for storing data in a temporary storage area. This improves a site’s performance since a lot of a page’s content is already prepared and available and does not need to be fetched and processed in order to be displayed for a user. It also reduces a load of various system resources on your server. We recommend you use the caching plugins provided by Server9host, that are built to work best in that environment. You can find these cache settings in the performance page WordPress section of the control panel. If your site is not a WordPress site, enabling caching is more complex and beyond the scope of this article. In either case, you should discuss caching options with your hosting provider, since they will often have recommendations based on the optimizations they have implemented on their end.  3. Use a Content Delivery Network. Probably the next most effective way to speed up your website is to use a content delivery network. A CDN is a worldwide network of servers that allows you to duplicate and store your site’s static elements/files (e.g. CSS, Javascript, images, documents, videos, etc.). These elements are then delivered to visitors from a server closer to their physical location. For example, if your website is hosted on a server in the U.S., visitors from other parts of the world will have to have to wait for a (relatively) long time for your content to reach their browsers. With a CDN, that time is reduced dramatically, since the static content will be provided from a local server much closer to them instead of one from across the world.  4. Optimize Your Images. As users come to expect higher quality images on websites, image size becomes more of an issue for page speed. Most images can be reduced in size using either graphic-editing tools or plugins without a web user noticing any reduction in quality. Here are the important things to remember: Use JPEG format whenever possible. PNG is also fine. Avoid BMP and TIFF formats. Crop your image to eliminate unnecessary elements and reduce size. Resize your images. There is no point in uploading a 2000 pixel-wide image if your web page is only 600 pixels wide. 5. Minify HTML, JavaScript, and CSS. Today’s websites and web applications are increasingly dependent on CSS and JavaScript, so it’s important to reduce the size of these text files. Minifying them is a great way to do that. This basically means getting rid of comments, extra spaces, extra line breaks, and block delimiters in the code to in order to make your code lighter in size and reduce the amount of data that needs to be transferred — thereby reducing the time it takes to load a page. As you might expect, there is a selection of plugins for WordPress websites, such as WP Super Minify and Better WordPress Minify, which will automatically minify your code for you. If you need to do it manually, tools like the Closure Compiler or the set of minify tools at Dan’s Tools can help. Also, note that many CDNs and caching tools offer built-in minify support.  There is really a lot more to site optimization than what we’ve discussed here. However, these are five steps that will give you the “most bang for the buck.” For those of you who want to learn more and/or further optimize your website, I’d like to leave you with a list of three popular performance analysis sites (all with very useful free versions). These tools will run a series of tests on your site to identify performance issues and direct you as to how to correct them. Each of these sites will run different tests and display the results and score in different ways. They are generally easy to understand and offer clear explanations and suggestions. Web Hosting : How to Get Started FAST!
So you’re ready to start your own website? Congratulations! Here are five easy steps to get started without wasting any time! Step 1: How does it work? In order for your website to be available to anyone at any time, you need to host it with a web host. In other words: you need a web server leased to you by a web hosting company. Also, in order for your visitors to easily access your site by name, you will need a domain name such as `yourdomain.com`. This will allow making your site available at `www.yourdomain.com` (for example) but this will also allow you to receive email on addresses like `[email protected]`… Most hosting companies offer all-inclusive packages by default, which include: a domain name, the web-hosting itself several email addresses/mailboxes. Thus, if you’re just starting out, it is generally a good idea to get both your domain and your hosting in one single sign up with a hosting company. (Depending on your needs, you may or may not want to also take advantage of the email addresses.)  Step 2: Which kind of website do you want? Think about your smartphone for a minute: you can enter notes into the basic existing apps, but you can also install new apps on your phone. It’s similar when you get a website: you can put up some basic information using basic tools but you can also install a new app, powerful apps! It basically boils down to 2 kinds of websites: Static website simple sites): you will build one or more web pages (called HTML pages) with software like DreamWeaver on your computer. You will then upload the pages to your host’s server using FTP software like FileZilla for example.Every time you will need to change something on your site, you will have to edit the pages on your computer and upload them again. The website never changes by itself. That’s why it’s called a “static” site. Note: If you don’t have any such software, don’t worry: many web hosts will actually provide you with free “site builder” software to get you started. Dynamic sites (blogs, forums, photo galleries…): instead of uploading HTML pages to, you will install a piece of software (called a web application) on your web server. This software will let you add and edit content (text, pictures, videos…) at any time directly online without the need for any special tools on your computer. The software may also allow your visitors to leave comments or start discussions of their own if you let them.Other popular web apps include WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, phpBB, Gallery and plenty more… Note: If installing a web application sounds complicated, don’t worry: many web hosts will automatically install the application of your choice for you. Their tech support should also be able to help you. Step 3: Which hosting technology do you need? While static HTML sites can be hosted on virtually ANY web server, when it comes to web applications, you need to be aware of the technology they are using. There are basically two different technological orientations to choose from here: Linux hosting: this is also referred to as “LAMP” as in “Linux Apache MySQL PHP” which are the 4 main components of this platform. Today, this is by far the most commonly used system. b2evolution and the other web apps cited above all run on Linux a.k.a. LAMP servers. Windows hosting: this is also referred to as ASP hosting. ASP is Microsoft’s proprietary technology for web applications. You only want to use this if you plan to run a web application written specifically in ASP. Note: even if you use Windows on your own computer, you will generally want to go with Linux hosting *unless* you specifically need ASP. Linux hosting is generally faster, cheaper and more flexible than Windows hosting and poses no compatibility problem at all, no matter which operating system you use at home or at work.  Step 4: What hosting service level do you need? There is a whole range of service levels in web hosting. These can roughly be broken down like this: Free hosting: this is like shared hosting (listed below) but overloaded with ads that you can’t remove and generally very slow. You should only use this for small private sites that do not need to work 24x7. Shared hosting: this is the most common kind of hosting. A very large server will host the websites of several different clients. Each client has its own account though and – on serious/security aware hosting companies – is isolated from other clients. VPS (Virtual Private Servers): Again a large server will host several websites but this time, the sites are strongly isolated from each other as if they were actually on different servers. This is recommended if you have high security constraints. Dedicated Servers: Here you get a whole physical server for yourself. That is very comfortable, fast and secure… but pricey! Cloud Hosting (Prices all over the place) : in this case your website shares an array of servers with other sites. This means that your site is not limited to the power of a single server and that the resources allocated to it can row and shrink on demand depend on how much traffic you get. This is interesting only for very large sites and if you’re just starting out you probably don’t want to get in to the complexity of such a solution. Most people start with shared hosting, knowing you can always upgrade later, as your site grows. Shared hosting gives you professional web hosting capabilities at the fraction of the price of a dedicated server.  Step 5: Choose a hosting company Once you have settled on Linux vs Windows and Shared vs VPS vs Dedicated, you will still have to make a choice between many offers from many different companies… A lot of companies will offer you incredible disk space and bandwidth to host your site. Don’t fall for it! All hosting plans in the $4 to $10/month range today offer more space and bandwidth than you could possibly need when starting a new site. If you ask us, there are 3 things you want to look at when choosing between similar hosting offers: Performance: how fast will your site be? The best way is to check out a website you know is already hosted by the company you have in mind. Uptime: will your site be available 24x7 or will it be down from time to time… which can be very annoying? Reviews and user comments will give you an idea pretty quickly. Customer service! This is the hardest part of evaluating. If service is important to you, read reviews and user comments very carefully. However, if you tend to figure out things by yourself anyway, you may as well go for a lower price… Also remember: you get what you pay for! Cheap prices (except maybe for limited time trial offers) always mean you will have to compromise on the speed of your site, the availability of your site (uptime) or the quality of the technical support. So, if you’re just getting your feet wet, you can go for a cheap package and you can always upgrade later. But if your business is going to depend on your website, make sure you don’t go for an entry level package. Click to Post
How to clean Website files from malicious code?
If your website has been hacked and malicious content has been inserted into your files, you should clean them as soon as possible to prevent further damage to your hosting account. Let's say that the following code has been inserted to some of your files: You have to search in all of your files for this string. You can search in your files using a local website building application such as Dreamweaver. First you should download all files to your local PC using an FTP client. Once you do this, you should use the search option in Dreamweaver and search for the malicious code. Delete it from the files and the issue will be resolved. When the malicious code has been removed, you should upgrade all applications on your hosting account to their latest stable versions. To ensure you are the only one who has access to your account, you should also: 1. Update your Antivirus software to the latest version. For Windows we recommend Norton Internet Security. 2. Run a complete antivirus scan on your local computer including all hard drives. 3. Ensure your Operating system (Windows, Linux or MacOS) is up-to-date and all security patches are applied. 4. Ensure your Internet connection is secure. If you are using wireless connection the only secure encryptions is wpa2. For more information contact your router vendor or ISP. 5. Change your cPanel password. 6. Change the passwords for your web applications backends. Click to Post
