So I really like watching Hazbin Hotel, but admittedly I've gotten the bug for redesigning some of the characters--most notably, in some small effort to please bring some variety to the body types in the main cast... so behold! My take on Overlord Busker, and post-deal Husker.

Back when Ethan Nestor (or CrankGamePlays, or EEF) posted his video talking about going to a furry convention, I felt inspired to draw some ideas of a fursona for him! This silly but helpful, agile but chaotic fella definitely strikes me as an opossum type, so here's what I ended up with! Ethan or "Teefan" Nestor!

I was feeling inspired and thought I'd take a crack at drawing Molly and Matt before they moved to Forget-Me-Not (or Forgotten) Valley! Back when Matthew was still a struggling upper-management type, dealing with chronic migraines and slowly mounting medical issues, and Molly was a frustrated office worker trying her best but still getting chewed out by her bosses.

Wouldn't it be wild if it turned out they had worked in the same company, but different departments?

oooo now see that's a fascinating one for Skarl! And funnily enough, Hanso isn't the only masc character in Neopets that I headcanon as trans! :3c

Five has a BIG thing for asparagus to a...somewhat concerning degree.. I mean there's a reason she wears asparagus gloves and an asparagus scarf. Lil weirdo.

One of my favorite things to do with new characters is explore their childhoods, so voila, Leila when she was about 10--More specifically, Leila and her first love, a little boy named Nicholaus.

Under the "read more" cut, there's a section from Leila's memoirs about him:

My first love was Nicholaus, a boy my senior by only a single year. After his parents died, he was sent to live with a relative in my city, and, perhaps in some effort to improve his chances in society with his “facial deformity”, he was tasked to join my father’s performance troupe. Perhaps they believed the masks and makeup would cover his blemish, a mere discoloration of skin on his face. He trained in earnest alongside me to one day take to the stage, but after a few years, we had grown so close that our passion for the stage rivaled our passion for each other’s company. On our first big performance as the younger counterparts to the innamori, Nicholaus broke from our scripted choreography and kissed me, on stage. Our crowd adored it, but my father was furious at him, and I was too stunned to speak up. After the performance, my father and Nicholaus’s relatives fought, badly. My father was furious at the disrespect to the rehearsed story, his relatives were furious at my father for “allowing their ward to be so uncontrolled in his amorous appetites under his watch”. They immediately escorted him home, and I didn’t see him again for another seven years.

So that's a bit of background on 'em! Lookit these cute lil kids, they're just the best of friends. <3

Random character question:

What does a "Cigarettes-and-Linen Vampire" look like? What type of music do they like?

So on Neopets, when you're loading up your neopass they show the silhouette of a walk cycle for a kacheek! Last year I took a look at it and thought "hm...I'll bet I could do something that looks a bit more on-model?" so I gave it a shot. There's a ton of things I'd do differently if I were to retry doing this, but for now I'm content with it. ^^

Some sketches exploring outfits for Leila, as well as a peek into her body type. It's fun to explore more of Elizabethan-period historical costuming through Leila, and fortunately since she has a few wealthy patrons, she can afford about...middle-class clothing? I can't believe in all my 32 years of life I've never made a vampire character before, but that's ended this month! This is mia princessa Leila Lottecossovo, a vampire created in Elizabethan (specifically post-1550's) Florence! More info under the cut if you're curious, but I'm about to be SO obnoxious about her so if you wanna skip her stuff feel free to blocklist the tag #LeilaLottecossovo

So I figure I can update this as I flesh out her character more, but for now here's what I've got on her: How old is she? She's physically 22 but mentally 26.

What does she do for a living? She's a professional actress in the commedia dell'arte theater troupe "La Sopravvissuti", where she holds the position "first Zanni". Essentially, she has been with the troupe long enough that she has first pick of any Zanni roles (harlequin, pulcinella, scapino, and others).

Does she have any family? Her mother died in childbirth and her father died when she was 5. A pair of her paternal piblings and their kids moved into her home after her father's death, but when she was 7 she was kicked out and adopted by the leader and director of La Sopravvissuti, Signore Reggi. She considers Paola, one of the senior actresses her aunt, and appropriately calls her Zietta.

"La Sopravvissuti"? Yes! The troupe's name translates to "The Survivors", because many are immigrants, outcasts, and veterans. The troupe was originally Signore Reggi's father's attempt to reunite some of his war buddies and give them a creative outlet, and Reggi continues his father's work in very much the same way.

How long has she been a vampire? Four years! She's still getting the hang of it and coming to terms with it.

How did she get turned? As a way of supporting the troupe and covering expenses, each actor is expected and encouraged to seek out patrons, who will watch their performances and enjoy the progression of their careers. In efforts to see their "pet actors" succeed, many will provide lodging, clothes, allowances, or networking connections. Leila was turned by one of these patrons, who had seduced her into sleeping with him, and while intoxicated, he turned her. She did consent, technically, but he didn't tell her all the side effects of vampirism.

Does she feed on human blood? She does, yes! When her patron turned her he kept her locked in his mansion for a full season, until she had some semblance of control over her instincts. During that time she fed on people her patron brought to the house, but once she was freed from under his thumb and returned to the troupe, she still fed on strangers. After a couple of months she realized an obvious solution: asking for the consent of performers in the troupe, to "feed" during their menstrual cycles. It's her current go-to, so she doesn't hunt.

Wait so if that's how she feeds, is she queer? Yes! She doesn't have the same language for it in her time as we do now, but we would classify her as "pansexual" and "demiromantic".

So is she in love with anyone then? Any of her feeding partners? I haven't written that portion yet, but if you have a vampire oc who would be alive in that time and would make sense as a thespian, let me know! ^^ She does still pine for her first love though, and I haven't written in whether or not she's told him what she is yet.
