Deepak Chopra doesn’t appear to like skeptics much, or understand them. He just put out a YouTube video challenging ”Randi and his cronies” to his own fake version of the million dollar challenge.
Here is his exact challenge:
Dear Randi: Before you go around debunking the so-called “paranormal,” please explain the so-called “normal.” How does the electricity going into the brain become the experience of a three dimensional world in space and time. If you can explain that, then you get a million dollars from me. Explain and solve the hard problem of consciousness in a peer-reviewed journal, offer a theory that is falsifiable, and you get the prize.
The challenge is absurd because it is completely undefined. “Explain” to what degree? Science often advances by developing theories that are progressively deeper. Obviously we can explain consciousness on some level, and just as obviously Chopra would not accept that level as sufficient, but he gives absolutely no indication of how much deeper an explanation he would require.
The vacuous nature of Chopra’s challenge reveals it for what it is – an insincere stunt that Chopra no doubt wishes to use for rhetorical purposes.
If you listen to the rest of the video challenge it is also clear that Chopra likes to operate in the gaps – he is making a massive argument from ignorance, or “god-of-the-gaps” type argument. In essence he is saying that because neuroscientists cannot now explain consciousness to an arbitrary level of detail (determined at will by Chopra, with an endless option to revise), therefore magic.
ITS A DOCUMENTARY
Univ. of Adelaide physicists have produced the world’s most sensitive thermometer — three times more precise than the best thermometers in existence. Published in the journal Physical Review Letters, the researchers from the university’s Institute for Photonics and Advanced Sensing (IPAS) report...
Good on ya Univ. of Adelaide!
The children of today are rumored to be far more consciously adept than our previous generations. If thats true this might be a piece of supporting evidence of that. In this video, 8 year old Adam introduces his latest crystal grid, which he calls a “web” grid. It pulls in dark energy and transmutes it…
Breaking news, young kid likes to play with rocks and makes up stories about them
OMFG GOD CRYSTAL HEALING ENERGY VIBRATIONS RAINBOWS UNICORNS ETC
Kid’s parent’s need a proper slap for encouraging him.
Go learn to code or something, kid. Do something useful.
It is 1987 and the Labor government, led by prime minister Bob Hawke, is introducing university fees which threaten the free universal education introduced by his Labor predecessor Gough Whitlam.
It is no surprise that students are outraged. It is a surprise to learn who rushes first to the barricades: Joe Hockey, then a 22-year-old Arts/Law student at the University of Sydney, who was protesting against the introduction of a $250 administration fee.
“We will continue to go out onto the streets and to protest, and actively encourage the public to support us in our campaign for free education,” says the young Hockey, who was the president of the Sydney University Student Representative Council.
Mr Hockey said, in response to the unearthed footage: “My involvement in student rallies is well-documented and well-known and there was no HECS scheme at the time. We had to pay upfront without any loan scheme.”
It was $250 mate, not $120 000.
You are a fucking joke.
Today I looked up how much that $250 would be equivalent to today
Its $557.35
I spend more than that on my SSA fees and textbooks every semester.
Fuck you, Joe Hockey.
So a while back in Adelaide we had a bunch of preachers who’d go and set up and preach really loudly to crowds at bus stops
Then we had this guy
I spent like 15 hours on this.
Design Fiction - Signs from the near future
Hey, hey, hey… Look at that. Designer Fernando Barbella used our HYPERMORGEN Icons (please spread the word) and produced some cool signs to illustrate a near dystopian future. Well done Mister. More of that please.
Check out his Tumblr here.

Totally just saw them tonight. This makes me happy.
This article is a pretty scathing attack on conspiracy theorists.
A conspiracy theory is an explanatory proposition that accuses two or more persons, a group, or an organization of having caused or covered up, through secret planning and deliberate action, an illegal or harmful event or situation. A Paranoid Conspiracy Theorist is a person who always sees patterns in random, rogue events, and propagates conspiracy theories to a fault.
It is not a moot point that PCTs tend to become the same monsters they make. In psychology, projection is the act of placing your own traits onto a specific target that you attack. This projection is manifested in the form of attribution of undesirable characteristics of the self to the conspirators. […] A PCT will end up being as just as fanatic as the big bad guv’ment they describe.A “free speech” advocate will certainly spend much time killing your free speech when you disagree with them.
Logically inclined people will soon recognize that the PCT doesn’t really want proof for anything; nothing counts as proof in his eyes. What they really want to do is keep the conspiracy alive. This is evident from the fact that the PCT never provides proof himself, but rather offers speculations, and the speculations given arenever given the same critical eye as evidence contrary. Ever. They don’t want literal proof of anything. They want to keep the conspiracy alive.
In addition, the PCT likes to feel “smarter” than those who are less “enlightened”. True PCTs are narcissists. In short, everyone who agrees and subscribes to his linear line of thinking are smart ones while those who question their reasoning are the sheep. Quite the contrary in most cases; arrogance is no joke in a PCT. It’s the number one thing that prevents them from absorbing any information contrary to their own beliefs.
