“Don’t be ridiculous.” You tried to ensure that your words were as even as possible with your back turned to him, but you couldn’t hide the smile growing on your face.

“You’re the one being ridiculous. I have reason to suspect that you’ve been keeping secrets from me.”

You shivered when you felt his breath tickling the back of your neck. You spun around, the smile vanishing from your face.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about. I have been nothing but loyal to you.”

“That’s not true. I saw you sneaking around.” Junhui moved closer to you, so you took a step back. He moved even closer. Another step back.

“Sneaking around? I have been by your side day and night and this is how—” he now had you pinned up against your kitchen counter, and you could feel your heartbeat quickening. 

“I saw you talking with that guy, and I saw what you had hidden in your purse.”

“You have to believe me when I say,” your voice was a low whisper as you held eye contact with Junhui, the air tense in between the two of you as you pulled something out of your back pocket, “that what I had with you was never real.”

With that you pulled the trigger on the water gun you’d been carrying in your back pocket and sprinted out of the kitchen before there was a repeat of your last escape (he had tickled you until you’d run out of breath and were forced to divulge all the information you’d learned as a double agent—rewarded afterwards with a kiss, of course).

He bit back a smile as he rubbed the water off his cheek.

“This won’t be the last you’ve seen of me, Agent [y/n]!”

can you do prompt based on this post for soonyoung? "my favorite college experience is when i had a 7am class and the kid next to me literally poured a monster energy drink into his coffee said “i’m going to die” and drank the whole thing"

“Holy shit.” You had turned your head right as your seatmate poured a monster energy drink into his coffee. It was a 7 AM class, but even that was a bit extreme. He glanced over at you, but he didn’t seem to be perturbed by your staring. 

“I’m going to die.” He said, looking back at the concoction in front of him before hastily picking it up and downing the whole thing.

“Holy shit.” You repeated, louder this time.

He wiped his mouth with his sweatshirt sleeve, giving you a thumbs up afterward.

You gave what you hoped was a reassuring look before turning back to your notes, ready to suffer through the early morning class without such an intense caffeine hit. The class passed slowly, but you managed to get through it. The whole time, though, your desk had been shifting a bit because the guy next to you couldn’t stop fidgeting.

“Hey,” you said once the class had ended, “I think you should get some water or something.”

“What? Me?” He jumped at your voice.

“Yeah, you.” You couldn’t help but smile. His fluffy hair was flying all over the place since he couldn’t keep still, and his eyes were widen open. It was kind of…cute.

“No, I’m fine! I feel totally fine.” He tried to slide his messenger bag over his shoulder but ended up missing several times since his hands were shaking so much.

“It’s Soonyoung, right?” You asked, sliding your backpack straps on with ease.

“Yeah. And you’re [y/n]?”

You nodded. You felt bad leaving this poor kid to fend for himself in such a hypersensitive state, so you were going to leave your comfort zone momentarily.

“Listen, I don’t want to see you like pass out on the sidewalk or anything, so would you want to get an early lunch or something?”

“Uh, sure! I have a huge test in my next class in a few hours, so it’d be great to take my mind off of it,”

Ah, so he’d probably pulled an all nighter studying for his test. The coffee paired with energy drink made more sense now.

“Okay, well, maybe we should focus on getting you hydrated, so you don’t pass out during your test?”

“You,” he pointed at you with a shaky hand, his lips turning up into a smile that you wouldn’t mind seeing on other (less caffeinated) occasions, “are a genius.”

Before Mingyu could finish his friend’s introduction, the power snapped off.

“Shit.” Mingyu mumbled under his breath, fumbling to turn on his phone’s flashlight. “I should help get this sorted out, but I’ll be right back.”

He smiled before turning to leave, but the underlying look on his face screamed don’t kill each other while I’m away! He bustled off, and you and contemporary lit boy were left taking turns glaring at each other.

“Soonyoung.” The guy said after about two solid minutes of silence.

“What?”

“My name’s Soonyoung. Since Mingyu didn’t get to finish.”

“Okay.” You weren’t honestly that interested in his name, but the fact that he managed to say something to you that wasn’t laced with sarcasm was a truly new experience.

Your brief answer seemed to set him off though because you managed to see him rolling his eyes in the now dimly lit room.

“Sorry! What did you want me to reply with?”

“I didn’t say anything!”

“You didn’t have to! I saw you roll your eyes.”

“Oh my god.” He sighed. “Can’t we just have a peaceful conversation for once.”

“Apparently not since you take so much offense to the word ‘okay’.” You didn’t wait for a response before you turned on your heel and left the room. Staying in your dorm instead of venturing outside of it to talk to a bunch of people you knew nothing about really didn’t seem like all that appealing of an idea at this point. You huffed angrily the whole way to your room, nearly tripping in your haste to open the door.

Yeah, movie nights were definitely not going to become a regular hobby of yours.

The rest of the weekend passed rather uneventfully. Resorting back to your original plan, you suffered through your homework on Friday night. You got lunch with your roommate on Saturday, but otherwise, you didn’t leave your dorm much.

It was Sunday night, and you were dreading your classes the next morning.

You were about to shut your computer off and get ready for bed when you got the message. You smiled and rolled your eyes.

You sent a quick goodnight back before shutting down your laptop and getting ready for bed, significantly less stressed about classes tomorrow than you had been.

You tapped your fingers against your desk, waiting for your contemporary lit class to start. Your professor shuffled some papers before beginning the class. He discussed what would be on your midterm the following week before beginning the lecture. The class was coming to a close when he cleared his throat.

“As I mentioned last week, I’ll be grouping you in pairs today to begin work on a partner project.”

You were starting to regret taking a two part course. You could have opted for the course that only ran one semester, but, alas, you had chosen this one. Your midterm was the last thing you were worried about right now. You nervously looked around the room. You’d spoken with a few of your other classmates during your three months in the class, but you weren’t particularly close to any of them. 

Honestly though, considering your terrible luck, it was no surprise to you what the outcome was.

The professor rattled off a few names before ending up on yours. “[Y/n] and Soonyoung.”

“Are you kidding me?” You heard Soonyoung mutter under his breath in the seat adjacent to yours.

You sighed, waiting for the professor to give the final details on the project. He passed out copies of the books you’d all be responsible for before ending the class.

“So, I’m thinking we should make this as painless as possible for the both of us.” Soonyoung said, and it was probably the most amicable thing he’d ever said to you.

“Yeah.” You nodded.

“Here’s what I’m thinking.” He turned to face you as he shoved his book into his backpack. “Since midterms are next week, we don’t have to talk about this project until afterwards and then-”

“Holiday break is the week after finals and midterms though?” You interrupted him, earning you an annoyed glare.

“I was getting there.” He sighed. “Anyways, after this midterm, we can talk about divvying up the workload. If we do as much on our own over break, it’ll minimize how much time we’ll actually have to spend together working on it otherwise.”

You mulled over the idea.

“Okay, that sounds good.” 

“Great.” He looked satisfied (and a bit smug, too). “Then I guess I’ll see you later, partner.”

on the (very, very, very, very late) twelfth day of christmas (and coincidentally new year’s eve), my true love gave to me...

New Year’s Eve wasn’t really something you’d ever been particularly enthusiastic about. So, the fact that you had showed up to your friend’s party was a mystery to you.

You had promised, but even so, parties were something foreign to you.

However, once you had wandered around a bit, you realized why she’d been so insistent on having you come.

“[Y/n]! Long time, no see!” A familiar voice spoke behind you.

You turned around and were met with the sparkling eyes of someone you had not seen since last New Year’s Eve.

“Jisoo.” You smiled softly at the sweet boy in front of you. “Hey.”

“How have you been?” He tilted his head to the side, a smile to match yours forming on his lips.

There had been times in the past year when you had wished that you’d kept in touch with Jisoo. You’d even talked about him here and there to your mutual friend (and apparently she’d taken notice). You thought any conversation with him would be awkward, but as soon as he asked you how you were, it felt as comfortable as it had a year ago.

See, there was something incredibly different about Jisoo. You’d never been able to pinpoint it, but he had a way of making you feel like yourself. It was like he brought out all the things you wanted to say, made you laugh in the most genuine way, brought out all the love you’d been so eager but afraid to give to people.

You didn’t want to spend another year waiting for someone like him to come around because, well, there simply wasn’t anyone else like him.

So, as he gently cupped your face as the countdown began, and softly whispered “Can I kiss you?”, you nodded. You didn’t want to let someone so beautiful and irreplaceable slip out of your life again.

The clock struck twelve o’clock.

You broke apart and he bumped your noses together playfully. And as you stood there, thinking that he’d be a very nice addition to your new year, he murmured the words you’d been dying to hear.

“I’m not going to leave this time.”

It was 10:00 PM, and here you were wandering around a grocery store because you suddenly realized that the only copy of your favorite Christmas movie was miles away at your home, not the apartment you were stuck in during your winter break.

Once you had searched through a pile of cheesy films, you found it and made your way over to the checkout lines. There were only two lanes open, and you opted for the one that wasn’t occupied by a scowling man.

In fact, the only other cashier beamed when he saw you.

“Good evening. Did you find everything you were looking for tonight?”

“I did, yes.”

“Great!” He readied a few plastic bags for your purchases as you eyed him suspiciously.

“You’re awful cheery for someone who’s working on Christmas eve.”

“Well, you’re awful grumpy for someone who’s not working on Christmas eve.”

“Christmas is a lot less exciting when you’re a broke college student who can’t afford to fly home to your family.”

“Yikes, that does blow. Sorry.”

“Not your fault.” You sighed and waited for him to start ringing up your order. However, he seemed to be more interested in your purchases than actually scanning them.

“Home Alone?” He inspected your DVD before scanning it. “I’m more of A Christmas Story guy myself.”

Your nose scrunched up in disgust. He glanced at you before laughing as he bagged the movie. “What?”

“Nothing.”

“Say it.” He urged, a smirk still playing on his lips.

“Well, it’s just that A Christmas Story totally lacks plot and has the most undeveloped characters of all time.” You were met with the cashier’s raised eyebrows. “Okay, maybe not of all time, but it’s a pretty lame film.”

“Oh, so Home Alone is so much better?” He looked away from you and began scanning the snacks you’d gotten as well.

“Um, definitely. It has a compelling plot and, although not strongly developed either, much more amusing characters than that of A Christmas Story.”

“If you say so.” He smiled, ringing up the last few items. “Your total will be $16.42.”

You handed over the money, definitely not thinking about how soft and holdable his hands looked as you did.

“Receipt with you or in the bag?”

“In the bag is fine.” How could someone be so pleasant working on a holiday?

“Here you are. Have a nice holiday.” He flashed you another smile as he handed over the bag.

“You too.” You nodded politely before walking out and briefly wondering if you’d ever see him working in there again.

You were about to walk through the parking lot when you heard yelling behind you. Turning, you saw the cashier waving at you madly.

“Hey,” he stopped when he finally caught up to you, “my, uh, shift ends in thirty minutes. If you’d maybe wanna grab a bite or something afterwards and continue our Christmas movie debate.”

“What place is open this late on Christmas eve?”

“I know this really good 24 hour diner, actually.” He looked at you expectantly, and you were having trouble finding it in yourself to say no.

“Alright, can’t hurt I guess.”

He smiled at this, a wide smile that made your stomach feel weird, and suddenly you felt like maybe this Christmas far from home thing wouldn’t be so bad after all.

on the tenth day of christmas, my true love gave to me...

Filling bowls with snacks, hanging tinsel and garlands, and making a stellar playlist—that was your agenda right now. You were currently prepping for your family’s annual holiday party. Having bought your own apartment recently, you’d foolishly offered to host the party. Also foolish was the fact that you’d promised that your boyfriend would be at the party. That would be all well and good, except you didn’t have a boyfriend.

You didn’t really know why you had blurted that out, but once you said it, it was too late to take it back. So, that morning, when you remembered the blunder you’d made, you texted two of your good guy friends to ask for their assistance in fake boyfriend-ing.

You weren’t surprised when you heard a knocking at the door. You set down the candy you were emptying into a bowl and hurried over to unlatch the lock.

“Hello.” Mingyu smiled brightly at you when you opened the door.

“Oh, thank god you’re here.” You grabbed him by the wrist and dragged him in, setting him to work sticking bows on everything.

The rest of the decorating time flew by, and before you knew it some of your relatives began showing up. You greeted them all with hugs and smiles and let them get comfortable in your home. Mingyu was loitering in the kitchen, but he’d introduce himself when any of your relatives came over to talk to him. You barely had time to check on how he was doing, but no problems had arisen to your knowledge.

Before you knew it, the party had been going on for four hours already. Your nerves about hosting the perfect party were finally starting to die down when it happened. You’d been getting a drink when your great aunt came over to talk to you.

“Hello, [y/n].” She smiled warmly. It was a perfectly normal way to start a conversation, but when she leaned in with her follow up comment, you nearly spat out your drink. “Both of your boyfriends are really handsome, but could you explain to me how that relationship works? I don’t understand the dynamics of it.”

“Boyfriends?” She nodded. “Did you, I mean, uh...have you seen them around, lately?”

“I think they might be talking in your guest bedroom.” Her faced turned to that of worry. “I hope nothing’s wrong.”

“Oh, I’m sure everything’s fine.” You smiled nervously. “I’ll go check on them just to make sure though.”

You excused yourself and hurried to where your aunt said your boyfriends (plural) were. You opened the door without knocking and found Mingyu and Wonwoo arguing fiercely.

“Hey!” They turned to face you, a look of panic clouding their eyes.

“Are you both telling people you’re my boyfriend? You can’t do that!”

“He—” Mingyu pointed at Wonwoo, “just showed up out of nowhere and started spouting these lies.”

“Lies? As if your [y/n]’s boyfriend either?”

“Well, I’d make a better boyfriend than you, since I actually showed up on time.”

“Oh my god, stop arguing.”

They stopped talking, and you felt like you’d just kicked two puppies.

“Listen,” you softened your voice, “it was nice of both of you to try and help. Wonwoo, it would have been nice if you’d, oh, I don’t know, texted me back and said you were planning on coming and acting?”

“Sorry, my phone died before I could get a hold of you. I only got here about thirty minutes ago, and I couldn’t find you tonight.” He scratched the back of his neck sheepishly as Mingyu rolled his eyes.

“And you,” you took note of Mingyu’s eye-rolling and jabbed his chest with your index finger, “you shouldn’t yell at Wonwoo. However, I appreciate that you came so early and helped me out before the party started.”

The pout on Mingyu’s lips disappeared and was replaced by a satisfied smile.

“You’re both stupid, but thank you for being the best fake boyfriends.” You stood on your tiptoes and gave each of them a quick kiss on the cheek.

“Now how am I supposed to explain this to my aunt?” You muttered as you exited the room, leaving the two boys to try and process what had happened.

on the ninth day of christmas, my true love gave to me...

There was nothing you loathed more than Secret Santa. It was such a ridiculous game in your opinion. Not to mention, you barely knew the majority of the kids in your homeroom; however, you’d have been glad to get any of the students you barely knew, as opposed to who you did get.

Someone random you could just get a candy bar or something for, but your situation, as usual, fell nothing short of totally unlucky.

You had inwardly frowned when you’d pulled out the name: Hansol Chwe.

The stress of finding a suitable gift for this impossible charade became two hundred more times stressful upon your choosing. Not only would you have to pick some gift out for someone, but, of course, it had to be the boy you’d been completely head over heels for since forever. It’s not like you and Hansol weren’t friends; that was actually more of the problem. Since you guys were fairly close, you already felt obligated to get him something nice.

You’d ransacked quite a few stores searching for the perfect gift, but you came up with nothing. After your aimless quest, you decided to go the boring route and just bake him some sugar cookies.

And that’s how you ended up standing in front of Hansol, awkwardly staring at the treats you’d wrapped sloppily.

“I know it’s supposed to be a secret and all,” you held out the package, adorned with a sticky, flashy red bow, “but I just wanted to give it to you in person, so I could apologize for getting you such a lame gift.”

“What? It’s not lame.” He took the package and smiled. “Thank you.”

“Oh, no, don’t thank me! I wish I could have gotten you something nicer.”

“Well,” he began, and here it was, the moment where he would break and tell you how terrible you were at Secret Santa, “I actually do know something you could give me as an addition.”

“What?”

“A date.”

Wait, what? 

“A date? Like the fruit?”

He laughed nervously. “I mean, those would be nice too, but I was thinking more along the lines of dinner. I mean, if you want. We don’t have to, I was just thinking...” He continued to ramble on, but you were stuck on the fact that Hansol Chwe wanted to have dinner with you.

“So, is that a yes?” His question snapped you out of your thoughts.

“Definitely.” You squeaked.

“Great. You really do make a pretty good Secret Santa.”

on the eighth day of christmas, my true love gave to me...

You walked into your living room, sorting your some Christmas cards when you noticed some suspicious behavior on the other side of the room.

“Hey, what are you doing?” You ran over to the mantelpiece, where your boyfriend had been been dangerously close to almost opening his stocking.

“Sorry! I’m just excited.” He smiled shyly, and how were you supposed to be mad at a cute face like that?

“Well...” You didn’t want to give in, but as was mentioned, his face was like super, super cute. “I guess you could open one gift.”

Jeonghan’s face lit up in glee and you just rolled your eyes, smiling as you carefully chose a gift from under the tree to give to him. You motioned for him to come over and he eagerly took a seat next to you.

“Okay, here.” You handed over the gift gently. “It’s kind of cheesy, but—”

He’d already started tearing into the paper, and he smiled softly when he saw what lay beneath the paper.

“Do you like it?” You asked after a few moments. In his hands he was now holding a framed photo of the first party you two had gone to as a couple. The two of you had still been a bit awkward; after being friends for so long, it was a bit unusual to be doing couple-y things out of nowhere. The party had ended on a high note, though, since the two of you began to realize your friendship didn’t have to change much even though you now shared romantic feelings with one another too.

“It’s great. A little bit cheesy, but perfect.” He leaned over and planted a soft kiss on your lips. He let his nose bump against yours when he pulled back, relishing in your sweet features.

“I’m glad you like it.”

He gave your cheek a gentle poke before standing up, offering a hand to help you up too.

“Now that I don’t have to daydream about opening at least one gift, would you like to watch a few Christmas movies?” Jeonghan tangled your fingers together and dragged you over to the couch, plopping the two of you down. He rested his head on your shoulder, and you couldn’t feel more at home.

“Sounds good...but I get to pick the first one!”

on the seventh day of christmas, my true love gave to me...

Thin, wispy billows of steam snaked out of the cup of hot cider you were holding, your teeth chattering slightly as you walked briskly towards the building your boyfriend practically lived in. After being admitted at the door, you took the elevator up to the floor he was practicing on.

This area was familiar to you, and you only had to follow the blaring pop music and squeak of sneakers to find who you were looking for. Once you reached the practice room, you hovered in the doorway, admiring the way your boyfriend moved so smoothly along with the music.

The song ended and the four members of the performance unit took a minute to catch their breathe. Chan was the first to look in your direction.

“[Y/n]!” He dashed over, the face that had been serious and focused only moments ago was now lit up with childlike glee. He eyed the cider you were holding. “Is that for me?”

“You wish, Lee Chan.” You grinned and ruffled the youngest member’s hair.

“Is it for me?” Minghao had weaved his way over, and you felt your smile widen.

“Why, yes, it is.” You handed him the cup, which was still warm despite the cool air that was ventilating through the room.

Chan rolled his eyes before darting back to the two other dancers, leaving you and Minghao to have a minute alone.

“Did you see the whole dance?” He asked, gingerly sipping at the drink so as not to burn his tongue.

“Most of it.”

“How was it?”

“Great! You guys seem more and more in sync each time you dance.”

He grinned at this, his eyes crinkling as he did. Sometimes (okay, always) you wished that the two of you had more time to spend together, so you could see more of the breathtaking smiles he had to offer. But, of course, his members needed him, and you knew that being a part of such a fluid team made everything he did worthwhile.

“I’m glad to hear that. I’m also glad you brought this.” He took another quick sip of the cider. “I hope you bought yourself one too, though. It’s cold out today.”

“I did, don’t worry.”

“Good.” His free hand found yours and he laced your fingers together. “I don’t want to date an ice queen, no matter how pretty she might be.”

You snorted and rolled your eyes. 

“I don’t think you’ll have to worry about that.” You swung your hands together gently. “Besides, I’ll stay warm with my burning hot love for my boyfriend.”

It was Minghao’s turn to laugh, and, boy, did you love that laugh.

“Well you’ll be staying extra warm then because I’m positive your boyfriend feels the same way.”

Caroling had never been one of your favorite parts of the holiday season. The thought of carolers passing by your house, singing entirely too loud, made you cringe and want to stuff tinsel in your ears.

So, when you opened your door to find some guy holding a black binder lined with sheet music, you tried your best to shut it as politely and quickly as possible. You were stopped by the guy’s foot, which he managed to jam between the door and doorway before it completely closed.

“Please, only four people have actually listened. I’ll only be like two minutes.”

You skeptically eyed the boy, who was giving you Intense Puppy Eyes. You were swayed.

“Fine.”

The boy’s face glowed and he took a deep breathe. As soon as he got out the first few notes, your jaw dropped. Never before had you heard a more angelic voice. As the song progressed you just fell further and further under his spell.

“So, how was it?” He asked once he finished. It took you a few seconds to comprehend his question and work your mouth enough to answer him.

“Good.” Smart thinking. “Great, I mean. You’re an amazing singer.”

You couldn’t tell if the guy’s cheeks were rosy from the cold or your kind words.

“Do you want some hot tea or something to take with you to the rest of your stops?” You found yourself asking (the tea you’d been brewing only minutes earlier was for you, but how could you send this angel away empty handed?).

“Um, sure.”

You nodded before closing the door and running back to your kitchen. You transferred the still toasty tea into a thermos and hustling back to the door. You swung it open and were relieved to see the guy still standing there.

“Here.” You handed him the drink and he took it eagerly.

“Thank you. For the tea and for listening to me...” He let the sentence hang, waiting for you to finish it.

“[Y/n]. And it’s no problem.” You felt your own cheeks growing warm.

“Nice to meet you, I’m Seungkwan. I guess I’ll have to stop by again to sing for you once more.” He winked and you chuckled. You could already see what a nerdy person he was. “And also to return your thermos, of course.”

“Of course.”

Okay, so maybe carolers weren’t all that bad.
