Why does everyone want tom dead?

Everyone in the book’s want’s tom dead because of what he is (look at last post) Just because of the fact that he is his mothers son and has taken on the trouble of his mother.

Tom....What is he!?!?!

What the hell is tom. His mother wants him to be a spook because he is his “mothers son” but i’m still confused on what he is in truth.

The Spook.

The spook is a mysterious person, he lives alone rarely takes on an apprentice, battles the forces of darkness every day. but what i don’t understand is why he distrusts his apprentices. i think some of the reason for this is the story of Morigan (Book 3) after 3 years he left his apprenticeship to practice necromancy and he became one of the dark.

Why!?!?

Why does Joseph Delaney always keep the story of Tom’s mother shrouded in mystery? I mean i know her past is supposed to be clouded but we could do with more explanation on her past before the time of the books.

Overall story of the books

The overall story of the books is very difficult to explain, the story of the first book is Tom (our main character) gets apprenticed to the spook. The spook is a person who is trained to combat the dark and all creatures of the dark such as gast’s, Bogart's, witches etc... and now Tom is being trained to be a spook by a older spook named Jon Gregory. Now tom will have to lean the ability's of a spook and will have to learn about different types of the dark.
