MHA Second Season Thoughts
So I finished season 2 for the first time last night. Here are some thoughts that I have about the show. As mentioned in my first post I have been positively spoiled about the events in the show by my own volition, but here are my thoughts actually watching it for the first time.
First I want to note how funny this show is. The visual humor is wonderful. After reading the first volume of the manga, the anime just hits different.
To be a little negative for a second, the female representation is still a little disheartening. Like the female characters seem fully fleshed out, but it feels like they are never allowed to be powerful. I would love to see a character student, Pro, or Villain hold their own in a fight or beat a character like Bakugo or Todoroki.
On the topic of Todoroki, I feel like I am starting to actually like the character. I really didn’t care for him during the Festival Arc, even after learning about his tragic backstory. I mean every character in an action based anime has a tragic back story, I still found him arrogant, elitist, and overpowered. With the Stain arc, I am starting to like him as we see more of the person and less of the power.
Speaking of Stain, I was surprised by the brevity of the arc, but I love that there are actual ramifications.
I want to punt Mineta every time I see him.
Nezu scares me
I do not know why you guys still simp over Shigaraki, he is a thirteen year old in the body of a twenty year old with death powers. I did not expect him to be as active in the show as he is.
One of the reasons I got into the show was that I found Dabi interesting aesthetically and character wise I hope I do not hate him.
Deku is best boy this season, I like his creativity and how everything he does feels earned. Iida is still number two, though I hear he doesn’t do as much in the later seasons.
