“hey, don’t sweat. i’m teasing you,” hayoon assured her, hastily pulling her into a little hug and rubbing her back. “we do. we don’t sound like reign or rejectz in the slightest. hyo is kind of a genius.”
“he really is. i wasn’t sure if they were going to make him our producer, but it’s so cool that they did.... he seems to get us and give us stuff that suits our personalities...” she said thoughtfully
rvxdokyoung:
“i didn’t think of it like that, but i’ll bet that’s what they’re doing. hit them with the familiar unity-esque cheesiness, and then step it the fuck up,” dokyoung agreed.
“right! my brother’s always said that the first comeback is more important than the debut, anyway. it’s how you establish a sound.”
rvjinhwa:
“says miss little squishy sparkle girl,” jinhwa shot back, blushing and pouting. it was a terrible insult, but seyeon was right and she didn’t like that. “she did! she deserves it, too, after what happened to her on the first idol project.”
“um, i’m a rapper from higher. we’re all badasses. i don’t know what you’re talking about,” seyeon answered back with a laugh, nose scrunching up in indignation. “i know.... she’s changed so much from when she was a kid-- how can people not see that?” she sighed. “i know ryujin and chae are groupmates with woori, but i can never trust her after she did that to hayoonie....”
rvjinhwa:
“hey! i keep up just fine in unity, don’t i? i don’t think i stick out in hobgoblin or black dress,” jinhwa whined. “i guess i’m kind of starting to agree with you, though. hayoon wouldn’t be featured nearly as well had i been in the group.”
“i mean.... you didn’t stand out i guess, but it suited you less,” seyeon giggled, covering her mouth with her hand. even in hobgoblin, jinhwa looked cute and squishy. “yeah-- hayoon really got to show off, huh.”
rvxdokyoung:
“you know, typically i’d be upset about not getting a ton of lines when there’s only three of us, but i get featured so much in the choreography, it doesn’t even matter,” dokyoung said with a little nod. “it was a little cheesy, but it was a good debut. now we just need to top it.”
“yeah! that’s what i mean-- they made sure we all got our moment,” seyeon said, grateful that dokyoung liked the song too. “i think they did that on purpose. it’s hard to top a masterpiece. it’s much easier to put out a great debut, and then the masterpiece.”
rvhayoon:
“is that your weird way of complimenting my singing?” hayoon asked, narrowing her eyes before bursting out into laughter. “i think it suits us. higher did a good job of making it feel like ours.”
“don’t take it the wrong way! i think you sounded really good! you’ve gotten so much stronger the past few years!” seyeon insisted quickly, pouting a little. she didn’t want to upset her friend, even accidentally. “i think so too. we have our own sound.”
“maybe it’s good you debuted on your own?” seyeon offered, trying to tease. “you’re super r&b, right? and you’re too cute for dmt. it all works out.” @rvjinhwa
“you know.....i think we did something,” seyeon said after taking a deep breath in. “i was scared, but i’m really happy with what we did. the vocals weren’t nearly as lacking as we thought they’d be. and i think we all got featured pretty well.” @rvxdokyoung @rvhayoon
rvjinhwa:
“that would be so unfair to you guys, though! you would have already figured out a dynamic and a line distribution, and i wouldn’t feel right just claiming it just because i couldn’t be a soloist.”
“hayoon and i have been saying that we’re lacking a big main vocalist! you’d be doing us a favor,” seyeon insisted. “it’s whatever. it’s never going to happen. you’re a great soloist.”
soladarv:
“seyeon, i love you, and respectfully? shut up,” sola said firmly. “you are and were a fantastic friend. this isn’t about you.”
“yeah, i guess,” she sighed, pursing her lips and looking at the ground. “i guess we should get to rehearsing, then. for dokyoung and stuff.”
rvhayoon:
“having a higher voice doesn’t mean you’re less good? byulah is right there. so is sookie,” hayoon pointed out. “dylan’s a legend for bad reasons. and she’s a good rapper, but you’re better.”
“no, i know high voices are good! but i also have a cute voice. and that’s not what good rappers have,” seyeon answered. “i think that’s a matter of opinion. what she did was dumb but....she had a point.”
rvhayoon:
“you’re better than tiwi. jieun doesn’t count because she’s basically not an idol beyond unity– she’s a soloist. dylan is good, but you’re better. and i’d say you’re even with jia. truth.”
“you’re crazy, unnie,” seyeon insisted, shaking her head. “i sound too cutesy and baby-y to be on their level. and dylan is kind of a legend.”

“she didn’t tell you because you’re her friend. she didn’t want you to worry, i’m sure,” sola said soothingly, honestly wishing she could convince herself of that too.
“well, too fricken late! i’m super worried,” seyeon whined, crossing her arms dramatically. “i was such a bad friend.”
rvjinhwa:
“if it doesn’t, i think i’m officially retiring. i can’t deal with being this upset all the time,” jinhwa sighed.
“maybe don’t retire-- maybe you can just join us as a fourth member? but a late addition!” seyeon offered, hope still playing on her voice.
“come on, now, i won’t bite,” himari said, biting back a smile as she saw the person hesitating to sit next to her. “i only play a violent psychopath on television. i promise you, i’m very nice out of the ring.”
“i-- well....” seyeon began, blushing profusely. “you’re really convincing, okay.”
rvjinhwa:
she squeezed seyeon tightly, closing her eyes and sighing. “thank you. getting my first win was super promising. i’m just… kind of heartbroken by how everything went down.”
“i bet it’s super disappointing. but you’re making the best of a bad situation. and i bet your first comeback is going to shine because of it all,” seyeon said, trying to be encouraging.”
soladarv:
sola smiled sympathetically, putting an arm around seyeon’s shoulders. “no. we couldn’t have known what she was going through without her telling us. i think we were the best groupmates we could be,” sola assured her. “somi is just doing what’s best for her.”
“yeah, you’re right. i just... hope she’s okay. and am worried that i was a bad friend. or that she didn’t tell me because she didn’t trust me or something,” seyeon mumbled.
